Long overdue review. We were in Durango to take the Durango-Silverton narrow gauge steam train that…read moredeparts Durango shortly after 8am and because this place is not in town we had no choice but to board the furry friend for two nights so we dropped the pooch the night before the trip When I called from Silverton I was told that because he is very submissive and non aggressive they were going to isolate him for the night so others wont make him feel as scared with all the barking. At the time they were only open until 6pm so knowing the train arrived at 6 there was no way we could be there to pick him up the day of the trip so that is why we paid for the second night, and I see now that their hours have been extended until 7:30pm , when we got there the morning of the third day and they went to get him, it took a while for the handler to come back but when the handler finally came with the dog we were surprised to see that the dog would not stop complaining very loudly and when I took him outside he had me use three poop bags and gave me the impression he had been holding for a whole day or so. He peed like he had drank a litter of water all at once Apparently nobody checked on him on the other side of the building where it was more quiet. He complained all the way back to where we were staying like we have never seen before, he made a point and I promised myself not to ever board him anymore anyplace, you never know how well they communicate with each other. Poor dog

Stephanie was absolutely AMAZING with my two elderly little dogs!…read moreAt their first grooming visit, before taking them back to be groomed, Stephanie very kindly took the time to ask all about them and let my tiny guys (and me!) get comfortable. When I picked up the boys, they were happy and looked adorable. Wonderful!

However, from an outside perspective, it doesn't seem like much has changed at all. In fact, I feel like it's gotten more expensive, and more picky with what items they put out on the floor. In general, it just feels like a boutique now. It's clean, well thought out, there are fancy, cool items, and a few more affordable things. If that's what you're after, you'll probably enjoy this thrift store. I guess I'm still stuck in the past, when it was truly affordable and had a wider range of items. When it really felt like a thrift store. Now, whenever I go there, I leave with nothing. I don't think it'll ever be like it was before, and while I truly hope that the new business model works well for them, since their mission is important, I can't see myself stopping by anymore.

Prior to surrendering him, I had reached out to them for help as my dog was biting people and I could not find a animal behaviorist in the area that did have a several month to one year waiting list. They gave me the number of the person that they use and I called her several times. She never called me back after multiple attempts to get help for my pet. Sadly I had to surrender him because I could not find a place to live that would accept a dog nor could I find help for his behavior. After I surrendered him, I started working on finding a home for him or a training facility. I was working with the director durning this time but she would never call me back after many many many attempts to reach out to her to try and find a solution for my dog. She told me "come get him today or he is up for adoption" " We are not a boarding facility or a rehab facility." Very Rude considering they are in the animal life saving business. So much for help from your local humane society when you need it. The director acted like I just didn't want my dog and wanted to just get rid of him which is not the case at all. I just needed help. Once I finally did find a home for him the communication at the facility was horrible with constant voicemails left and no return calls nor answering of emails. I had arrange a pet transport for him to another state and they just wouldn't call me back. Finally I got in touch with someone who could help me and finally have been able to get my dog out of there. The overall experience is horrible there is no communication and messages are not relayed in a timely manner. They treat you like you are scum of the earth when you have to surrender your animal even when you are really struggling with the decision.

I was with this vet for about four years. Over Christmas, I…read moresuspected my dog of needing his anal glands suppressed. Getting over the holidays, planning a trip, and sick from food poisoning - I head down to them and give them as many details about the situation that I can. To which the "vet" whom we don't normally see - interrupted answers to her own questions, didn't bother looking at his charts, made us both extremely uncomfortable. When she suggested taking him to the back to clip the area, my dog reacted - as well as I. I could tell by her energy I didn't want her alone with my dog. Sure enough he gets on the table to he looked at, in his butthole so he is nervous and she's shouting "sedation sedation". After getting it trimmed, she tells me he has a tumor. As my eyes water up because my 8 year old Aussie has been just diagnosed with a tumor she asked me, why I'm crying? I go on to answer this stupid question and then say, what's next. "Well surgery, do you have any questions?" I think I lost it then, I had many questions to which she wouldn't have cared or answered in my opinion. With no answers or previous information on tumors, to belittle and be condescending on someone trying to get an idea of what to do when this was a completely unexpected turnout. We immediately left, switched vets, and I have told everyone I can about this. I will beconsistently be warning people of this place.
