My girl has a few chronic health issues that Dr. Gina has cared for expertly!! I've had cats all my life. Had it been possible, every one of those felines would have been a patient of The Cat Doctor's. Dr. Gina one of a kind! Our community is lucky to have her.

Luca waiting (not so patiently) for Dr. Gina.

Dr. Gina and Elizabeth were so sweet to my little Luca! He has a lot of anxiety from past vet experiences in Italy (where we adopted him) that were chaotic, stressful, and overwhelming, so he was very stressed coming into the office today. Despite his anxiety, Dr. Gina & Elizabeth were so kind to him and calmed him down better than I expected. They also gave me a lot of great information about nutrition, his health, allergies, etc. You can feel the love the staff has for kitties and how well they understand their behavior, preferences, fears, and feelings. This was our first visit as we just moved to the area and we will definitely be bringing Luca back in the future! Thanks so much for everything!

Thank you Dr. Gina at the Cat Doctor for taking such good care of me!!

She is an excellent, knowledgeable vet who is very compassionate and gentle with my dog. I really appreciate her giving me different options, not all that I necessarily follow, but allows me to makeup my own mind with all the facts. The tech and office staff are always helpful and cheerful as well.

I've been taking my dogs to La Cumbre Animal Hospital for 10-12 years and have spent tens of…read morethousands of dollars there. After my recent experiences with Dr. Keusis, I have completely lost confidence in this practice. My dog isn't your average pet. She's a highly conditioned sport dog, extremely fit, active, and high energy. Her cardiologist even called her the "Michael Jordan" of dogs. Last year, after a training injury, Dr. Keusis diagnosed my dog with hip dysplasia from X-rays and told me to permanently stop all impactful activity. Because something didn't sit right, I sent the X-Rays to a friend who literally just zoomed in and said I need to go get her an MRI right away of her spine. An MRI revealed the real issue was degenerative disc disease, and both the neurologist and my dog's rehabilitation specialist agreed her hips were not the cause of her symptoms, and they weren't "that bad." Had I accepted that initial diagnosis, my dog's quality of life would have suffered tremendously. That experience left me frustrated because there was no recommendation for advanced imaging, no referral, and no attempt to investigate further. It felt like once one explanation was found, the search stopped. But then again, X- rays are only as good as the person viewing them. Last week my dog went from completely normal to struggling to breathe and barely being able to bark in less than 10 hours. After multiple tests, X-rays, bloodwork, I was told it was probably just "old age." My dog is only nine years old, and these symptoms appeared overnight. A veterinarian's responsibility is to advocate for their patient and provide owners with as much information as possible so informed decisions can be made. Instead I AGAIN left with no answers, no urgency, no discussion about additional diagnostics, no referrals absolutely nothing besides "old age". It should never be the owner's responsibility to spend obscene amounts of money and then have to figure out where to go next. Because I continued advocating for my dog, I had to reach out to friends, do my own research, and finally a vet friend recommended an internal specialist, Dr. Keusis did not. We have now learned she has laryngeal edema with significant swelling at the back of her throat. So significant that it could be seen before scoping, when Dr. Keusis told me she'd looked down Hazels throat and saw "nothing of concern".....did that even happen? How did you check for laryngeal paralysis and completely miss her extremely swollen throat?! The veterinarian who examined her afterward was concerned enough to have me check in every day and explained that if the swelling doesn't improve with steroids within the next few days, she may require a biopsy above her trachea; a difficult procedure that could require creating an alternate airway through her neck. Looking back, what troubles me most is the complete lack of concern/neglect shown for my dog's throat and overall well-being. I left feeling like her symptoms were minimized rather than investigated. She was sent home with an "old age" diagnosis despite having a condition that required treatment and may still require an invasive procedure if the swelling doesn't resolve. It seems like all the vet office wanted truly wanted was a large bill they could collect. To make matters worse, no one from the hospital called to check on my dog after she went home, despite the severity of her symptoms. She also wasn't sent home with any pain medication. It wasn't until four days later, after I reached back out and asked for pain medication myself, that anything was prescribed. That level of follow-up fell far below what I expected after being a loyal client for more than a decade. I walked away feeling that my dog's well-being was not advocated for when she needed it most, by the people we "trust" with essentially our pets LIVES. If your pet has anything more complicated than routine care at this facility, ask questions, seek additional opinions, and don't hesitate to advocate for them, because they are relying on YOU. If I hadn't, my dog would still be misdiagnosed today, and living a very miserable life.

Maybe they are going through a difficult time, like I think a recent retired doctor, but it's just been a recent change in overall attentiveness and level of care. There isn't consistently a place for the pets to wait for there turn in a quiet space. Families aren't all given the chance to stay in the room with their pets. It is considered a special request. Our cat ended up having to wait in the car to avoid the sounds and smells of the dogs. He dislikes dogs, so this already makes it a little challenging and stresses him out. We voiced other concerns with them directly, so I don't think it's necessary to include everything here, but just wanted to leave a review as feedback so hopefully they take it to heart to improve. We are sad to leave this practice. They were so friendly and caring until the end of our time having our cat as a patient. I am not leaving a bad rating, just 3 stars because the vets are actually really skilled. But the admin staff and support from the techs hasn't felt up to par recently. Hopefully things get back on track.

Without running any tests the vet came back and said it might be cancer. I acknowledged that may be the case but thought it was alarmist and premature to say that. The technician came back after cleaning the ear up to say they at this point they do agree it's a wound with possible infection, not cancer. Although they wanted to meet with me to go over the treatment and meds before I left, they forgot to put an antibiotic medicine dispenser in my bag, and three separate times I had to remind them to go back and give my (feral) cat his first dose of antibiotics, and flea meds, and remind them again to check for worms. They also forgot to give me topical antiseptic pads so I can clean the wound. I think they are training young interns who have no idea what they are doing.
