Dr. Gina takes the time to explain everything in great detail, is very knowledgable and is great at answering questions. Today I was very concerned about my cat as he was having some urinary tract issues, and knowing the possible severity of the situation they immediately accommodated and fit him into their schedule. I could tell he was very comfortable with the whole team and it took a lot of stress off to know he was taken care of. I was looking for a good experience, having taken my newly adopted cat, April, to another vet in town where she had a somewhat traumatizing quick two minute assessment and a $2000 estimate for tooth repair. My friend highly recommended I have April re-evaluated at Cat Doctors. We had a four-week wait for soonest appointment. I now understand the popularity. We arrived early for the appointment and were brought back to an examination room. Our vet technician, Callista, was thorough in her questioning. The room itself was clean and directed towards cat comfort. Dr. Gina was very nice and thorough, examining her for 20-30 minutes and explaining all her findings in detail. What really stood out to me was that Dr. Gina genuinely cared about April's comfort- even providing her with treats after difficult parts of the exam. Cat Doctors is unique- a practice directed to cats. This is very compelling when you have a cat who is scared of dogs. The initial mixed vet we took April too was somewhat traumatizing as there were dogs that came up to her in her crate. April seemed to do very well at Cat Doctors. Coming here felt like going to a specialist. I am very impressed and very happy my friend recommended it. It's worth the wait. The center is located off of De La Vina. I called this vet this morning explaining an emergency situation I'm having with my cat that he was peeing blood and they told me I had to wait 4-6 weeks to get him in so I nicely asked to speak with a technician and that lady told me to "save my breath" and that no matter what I say I'll have to wait. Dr. Gina was warm and personable and we were so excited to have found our vet. Sadly, she mis/under-diagnosed our cat BIG TIME and he died under her care. Despite major signs that he was very very sick, she told us he was fine and to come back in a month. He spent the next few weeks in pain and passed away before the next appointment. The hardest part as a pet owner is knowing he suffered, especially when the problem was fixable, but the second worst part was that we continued receiving emails from the clinic well after he died, telling us it was time to bring him in for a check-in. I'm not one to write bad reviews and hopefully, this was just a one-off (everyone makes mistakes), but it's important to share so that no one has to go through what we went through. If I were to go to Cat Doctors and my cat was sick, I would be sure to get a second opinion. read more

We've been going to Dr.Gina for the last year, and she and her team have been excellent. From testing out different cat foods w/our FLV tummy sensitive kitties, to calling-in specialist to sort out treatments for our kitty w/ Liver disease - we've had great, thorough care. We love Dr. Gina! Both our cats needed dental work and Dr. Gina and her staff took excellent care of our boys. They did great work for reasonable prices. We were given explanations of why everything was needed for the cats and I felt fully informed before moving forward. Dr. Gina gave us clear instructions regarding after care and the office called the day after the surgery to check in on how the cats were recovering. Each time we have gone in we have had no wait and were in and out of the office quickly. The staff are gentle and sweet with our cats who are both timid with strangers. I want to tell you a story that will let you know there is a real contrast between different vets even for a simple procedure. Our daughter had to have her first feral kitten neutered off in AZ where she lives. First, the Arizona vet that did that operation never noticed the kitten's massive englarged heart problem. Second,her cat had to spend ten days in an Elizabethan cone afterwards, with what seemed to be a bloody semi-open wound under his tail where they had done the surgery. All that was done was the neuter-- he is a male cat, and this ought to have been straight-forward, so this was surprising. We live in Santa Barbara and we took our feral kittens to The Cat Doctors where Dr. Gina Sullos operated. By total contrast to our daughter's cat in AZ, our two little black male cats came home after neuter surgery, lively, no Elizabethan collars needed, not a drop of blood nor any signs of discomfort, only a bit loopy from the anesthetic. They set in to enjoy life without any setback. Thanks to the Cat Doctor from our cats and us, for a splendid job, done with art and kindness and care. The difference between the hack job our daughter's poor kitten suffered and the graceful transition the Cat Doctor gave our little ones is shocking. For us-- in a good way! read more

Dr. Gina and Elizabeth were so sweet to my little Luca! He has a lot of anxiety from past vet experiences in Italy (where we adopted him) that were chaotic, stressful, and overwhelming, so he was very stressed coming into the office today. Despite his anxiety, Dr. Gina & Elizabeth were so kind to him and calmed him down better than I expected. They also gave me a lot of great information about nutrition, his health, allergies, etc. You can feel the love the staff has for kitties and how well they understand their behavior, preferences, fears, and feelings. Very neglectful in their treatment of my cats wound. Put in a drain but FAILED to take care of the problem as they sent me Hine WITHOUT a cone. Dr. Gina and her staff are amazing, I'm so glad I did my research on where to bring my 4 year old rescue kitty, Midge. Midge has always been in great health, but I had been noticing some excessive scratching and skin irritation - nothing too serious. I brought her to Cat Doctors for a basic check-up and Dr. Gina and her staff took wonderful care of us, Midge was calm and comfortable the entire time - I think that says something for a first time vet experience. I got all my questions answered and Dr. Gina gave me many suggestions for remedies on Midge's itchy areas as well as some general recommendations for best practices. I was neither waiting for too long, or feeling rushed as I tried to remember all my questions/concerns or when I forgot and had to Google what brand of food I give Midge. Dr Leslie Siemon is kind, gentle and soft spoken, which my cat appreciates. She helped us with numerous issues over the years, including feline seizures, and always patiently explained treatment options. They do house calls too, which is a deal if you have multiple cats. The staff, especially Nancy, are great and clearly love cats. I was glad they were there recently when my elderly, failing kitty had to be euthanized. The entire staff was caring and respectful, and he had a dignified passing. That made the whole painful mourning process much easier. read more

Really great vet. Receptionist was nice, and Dr. Siemon was really amazing with our two cats, even the grumpy older one. She allowed us to space out our vaccinations for our younger cat, and really listened to our concerns for our older cat. She doesn't push special food or shots, but talks you through the pros and cons and lets you decide for your own pets. She is sweet and gentle, and has a really great manner with the cats. I moved to SB with my cat in 2016 and found Cat Doctors -- so glad I did! Dr. Gina has been the best doctor we've ever had. My cat has severe skin allergies and Dr. Gina is always helping me to manage her itchiness. I also think their prices are extremely reasonable (30% less than the vet clinic I had in San Diego). But the best part is that they always call and check on how my cat is doing. In fact, I recently had to take her to the VCA hospital for something that happened on a weekend. While the hospital never called to check on my cat later, the Cat Doctors staff received the update from VCA to their file and called to check on how my cat was doing. She, like Dr. Janice, actually serves as an advisor, which in a time where doctors typically just give you 5 options and say "you pick," is quite refreshing. Sadly, we had to put down our beloved old kitty. The experience was the best we could expect for such a sad time. The doctor was kind, gentle, soft spoken, and un- intimidating. You could tell she really cared about what she was doing and was experienced enough to do it right. She came to the house (last minute because my cat was so sick), burned sage, lit a candle, and said a prayer. It was everything I could have hoped for and what my wonderful little kitty deserved.
