I reserved a table for 2 almost three weeks out and specifically noted on Resy to have a normal height dining table for two, not a low table and lounge seating. I called the day of to confirm this and the host, while not having the best customer service, did confirm we had a table for two on the patio. Once we arrived they sat us at a lounge low table seating. They corrected it quickly after complaining. For the food, the BAO BUNS were a bit too fatty. The BROCCOLI was undercooked. The ASPARAGUS was pretty awesome with a great dill sauce to top. The LAMB CHOPS came through and catapulted the entire culinary experience. The olive tapenade was so good!!!! The BONE MARROW was also excellent! And the winner at the end was the SMORE dessert. Overall, really cool place for drinks and chilling. Really cool rooftop bar. The cocktails look great - I had a long day of work the following day so stuck to a glass of wine, my coworkers enjoyed the espresso martini and margaritas. The service was very bad. Took a very long time to receive our drinks. The check came out wrong. The waitress did not come to back to the table to grab our card to pay after over 20 minutes of waiting. Went to find her with our card to pay. If you want to get a table you need to reserve it. Thats normal but when you go to their app you have to enter credit card info to reserve, then it states that if don't cancel at least 24hrs before your reservation you will get charged $15 PER PERSON in the party. RIDICULOUS considering that I had a group of 5 all there on time and we still waited 1 HOUR to be seated! If you are gonna make people pay a ridiculous amount for reserving/canceling then you would imagine that they have those reservations under control/seat on time, but no instead they have outrages reservation demands and have you wait at the bar an hour until your RESERVED TABLE is ready. At that point WHY RESERVE! What if I have somewhere to be in that hour that I waited & now may need to cancel? What they are gonna charge me $75?! So we were off to a Horrible start. Expect to get 3 sips out of any of your drinks. They are the smallest portion I have ever seen! Food is so bland. Its basically a menu of very expensive asian inspired dishes. Had Friday night reservations at 10:30 pm and was running late, so I called host and they were accommodating. Once my party arrived we were seated immediately. Live DJ was playing and he was great! Service was extremely slow , but my girls and I were enjoying ourselves so we didn't mind. Ordering drinks from the bar was faster then waiting on our server. The cocktails are pretty pricey and I don't think they were that good. My Sidecar tasted like juice and even the tequila shots tasted watered down, so I stuck with champagne after. I ordered the Salmon Misou I believe and it was so delicious and then a desert. The desert was a very strange combination of things, but tasted good. The overall vibe of the place was awesome! Catbird? Iconic. I went for a friend's birthday celebration and it was amazing. The decor is truly stunning and the vibes were immaculate. Definitely make a reservation, since the COVID guidelines in place to keep everyone safe (including a temperature scanner upon arrival) ensure capacity stays at a minimum. If you show up early to your reservation, there is a lobby bar where you can grab drinks and hangout beforehand. We celebrated my daughters birthday at Catbird. When we made the reservation, they asked if anyone had allergies. I have a shell fish allergy. We shared this information. I ordered the catch of the day,fish. The fish came on a bed of rice with crawfish. crawfish is not stated on the menu. When the dinners were delivered, my daughter and friend ate their meals. My meal finally came after they were done. They did nothing to make this experience better. No apology. I called to let the restaurant know of my experience. They said they would call back today. The aesthetics in the place was really nice but service was horrible. Worst service I've received in a while. I hate that I tipped bc the waitress didn't deserve it (argue this with the government and their employers, it's not my fault waiters are paid nothing) ...anyway, it took 30 mins to get water, another 40 to verbally take our orders and drinks. Then when the order came, we weren't given any utensils, so we had to wait for that too. To make it worse, they sat us in the worst place with a tiny table that couldn't fit the food we ordered. Came here for the first time today and I am very pleased with my overalls experience. We made reservations. Our server was nice and attentive and gave great suggestions. Our server told us we can go out to the patio and come back to our table if we wanted to. This was great because the outside view is beautiful and you can take some great pictures outside. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and furnished and it was a great elegant vibe. It's definitely a place where you would go to socialize and have a long evening with no rush to get your check and leave. The Aguachile Ceviche was really good! And the cocktails that I ordered were The Final Rose (sweet cocktail) and the Catbird. I enjoyed both cocktails. I was fine with the Aguachile Ceviche from their small plate menu because I had something to eat 3 hours before coming to Catbird. So the small plate and cocktails were perfect for me but if you haven't had anything to eat I would say you may need a small plate and something from their Mains list. Let's start with the fact that the two young ladies did not know how to work your reservation system. I told them that I saw my reservation was changed to the patio and I did not reserve patio seating, I selected dining room. They both saw it and said there was nothing they could do. Nick (the so called manager) was standing there and they asked him in a short & annoyed tone too "handle them". At that point I was pissed but I held my composer. Nick then said to me "can you step over here?" I did and he informed me that he also could see our reservation & it says dining room but said there wasn't any tables available. He frankly informed me that I was late for my reservation. I told him we were stuck downstairs waiting on valet & elevators. He still persisted with the late narrative. Which was ridiculous because we were still within our 15min grace period. Never did he apologize for the error or his nasty tone. I said ok but wanted to know how he the "manager" would accommodate for the inconvenience. His response was to repeat 2 time "there's nothing he can do but he could seat us at our patio table." The manner in his tone & body language led me to believe he didn't care about the problem and we ment nothing to the establishment at the moment. It conveyed that in that moment we could take what was being given or leave the restaurant. Nick lacked the simple steps in customer service & human decency. I was a guest in your establishment & the leader of your brand was horrible. I don't live in Dallas. I selected this restaurant for my friends birthday and it was ruined by the terrible customer service. The only positive I will give is that after we were escorted to our patio table, a gentleman by the name Vincent stopped to check on me & my friends. I explained what had just transpired and with in 10mins he returned to our patio table & moved us inside to the dining room. He apologize for the unprofessional behavior from Nick & the two young ladies at the door. Vincent wasn't a manager but he had more professionalism then Nick. This isn't the first time we've been disappointed by catbird, but it's by far the most meh experience we've had yet. Before it's been slow service, repeatedly messed up checks and the inexplicable inability to split a tab more than three ways (do they know its 2021?). This time it was flat out indifference to customer experience and basic incompetence. We sat on the patio during the "Sunday smack down" or some other silly nonsense name to have a drink. No service. After waiting at the bar for a while to ask if a server could come by to take our order the bartender woman told me that section of the patio doesn't have servers and we'd have to order at the bar. The person who sat us could have told us this. After waiting even longer for her to take our order, it took at least 20 minutes for her to make four drink orders and close the tab. Additionally, she was rude and acted put upon about the whole thing. It's not like the bar was swamped or anything either- there were only four others there. The Manhattan was mediocre. $70 later, drinks in hand (for 4), we were getting kind cold. After wandering around the place for ten minutes I finally found someone who would respond and asked if the could turn on the fireplace by our area. Of course it was broken. This was our third or fourth time there and it was our third or fourth time to leave feeling like Catbird is overrated, overpriced and does not really in any way consider the patron experience important. We probably won't be going back. There are way too many high end cocktail places in Dallas that are cute and make better drinks than to pay Catbird $20 a drink just to be disappointed at best. read more

One of us was sitting on the booth at our table taking a photo and the manager yelled at our group and told us to "get down." Maybe sitting up on the elevated surface isn't okay, but many of us are grown women w children and being publicly reprimanded at a nice bar when a polite conversation would have sufficed was just tacky and very rude. After we decided to leave, we had to wait for our bill for a very long time. While we were waiting the bouncer came over to our table and told us he was going to give us the "nice warning" to leave but if he "had to come back we get the mean warning." We let him know we would like nothing more than to leave but were waiting for our check 30+ minutes. Upon leaving someone in our group realized she left her brand new sweater at the bar. When we returned the manager told us she had used it as a rag to wipe down tables and we may not want it back!?? That's not a joke. I've never experienced such poor treatment and on a night that was supposed to be special and celebratory... disappointed doesn't even begin to explain it. Atrocious experience here! We made reservations weeks in advance and by the time we came to our reservation their dress code had changed and gotten stricter. They sent 3/9 of our girls home for having a rip in their jeans and told us we could push the reservation back by a half hour while we wait for those girls to return. (Still had to be done with our table by 945 for the next resy to come in). They wouldn't seat our incomplete party so we said fine and headed to the bar. Bar area was fine and cute, bartenders were definitely understaffed and slow but they were friendly. There were no bar stools so we asked if we could sit on some low couches while we waited and they told us sorry that's for a reservation. So we continued to stand. 30 minutes later when our friends got back with non-ripped jeans, they sat us AT THOSE SAME COUCHES. So we literally stood in front of our own reservation at an awkwardly crowded bar with no bar stools for absolutely reason. Not to mention- we didn't know our Resy was on couches and 9 girls sitting on very low couches huddled around a coffee table is no way to eat dinner. So we had exactly one drink and went over to a real restaurant and saved the day thank goodness. What a horrible way to treat your guests who planned so far in advance to be there and even went home and came back. Such a messy place with a very pretentious vibe. read more

Me being totally confused by her question I said what! She said they recently changed the policy no distressed jeans. Mind you I had 1 tear in my jeans. I'm really confused because people that I see walking in and being seated have on vans, tennis shoes, and ugg boots. Not only that the host has on a short dress and tennis shoes. I explained to her I'm not going to change, so we needed another solution. The manager comes out and offer me to wrap myself in a scarf that she has. I complied because we were already there to celebrate my boyfriend with my family. The way the situation was handled was absolutely unacceptable. Especially because of what others had on and was allowed to be seated. Of course I'm a different ethnicity, so the same rules don't apply to me. I highly don't recommend this place whatsoever! My first experience at catbird was exceptional. The music was awesome! They had me dancing in my seat the whole night lol. Their drink menu offers a great variety of options. They have a dress code, which I respect, but when you fail to communicate updates to that dress code to guests, such as now prohibiting ripped jeans, it becomes the establishment's issue... and the customer is right! My friend showed up in ripped jeans -- note: there was no website or resy copy that said this was not allowed at the time -- and they turned us away for some magical new rule they had seemingly just pulled out of their booty about not being able to wear ripped jeans. Go take a look at your IG tagged photos, Catbird, because there's a lot of scantily dressed people on there and if you're trying to boost your classiness by limiting exposed skin, it ain't working. By the way, my friend's jeans had one tiny rip. They then told us we could go home and change and they could hold our table but we'd have less than an hour before they kicked us out. How thoughtful! When I explained there was no website language around ripped jeans, they proceeded to point to the sign at the hostess stand that says no ripped jeans. Not sure if they expect guests to make a special trip up to Catbird ahead of getting dressed for their resy to ensure they pass inspection?
