It's been a few years so I'm going to reconstruct my memory enough to do a brief review. Located in the old Woolworth building,in my opinion the designers didn't take full advantage of the historic surroundings. The place just didn't feel comfortable to me. The food was good enough but,not to return. Too many other places. So,I never have been lured back by anything I experienced there the first time. * note- missing review. It's been several years and I have looked back before and it was there. Today it's gone?

We had a private event there and their private event room is down the hallway with the bathrooms when you first get up the stairs. It's pretty spacious inside and we only had 22 people at two long tables so it was perfect. I liked the ambiance with the bookshelves. The food itself was pretty good but I was actually impressed with the cocktails. We really enjoyed them and I especially loved the Jade Eclipse. The only thing I didn't love is that I waited so long for my Night Owl to come and after about 30 minutes or so I had to ask about it again before it finally came. Overall a very solid spot!

Didn't love this vodka and lemon drink.

I was hesitant to come here just because of history of the Woolworth brand, but I really had no other options. I thought from the menu and social media that this was an upscale dining venue, unfortunately, there are things that make it not so. First, where is the entrance? It was not easy to find. Thankfully, there were plenty of unhoused men ready to lead the way. Second, when I'm dressed up, I typically wear heels. Unfortunately, this is an old building and there are only stairs to get you to the restaurant. Save the heels ladies, this restaurant isn't made for all that sass. There is an elevator, but it says for ADA only and it also takes 5 lifetimes to get to each floor. The majority of the customers were dressed in casual clothes such as jeans and t-shirts. I'm visiting Dallas and I guess I didn't understand what this end of town is like. The photo shoot version of the restaurant in social media didn't match the clientele tonight. I ordered a vodka based drink that had strawberries, prosecco, and lemon. It was not good. I asked for the mule instead and that was tasty. My husband and I ordered the calamari and the pork for appetizers. I had the chip salad and the lobster mac b cheese for my entrees. My husband had the veal. He liked his entree. We both thought the calamari was fresh, but the breading needed more seasoning and a crispier blend to also stick to the food. The pork chunks were tender and salty. My salad was fresh and gave a variety of veggies to feel like I was eating healthy. The lobster mac would have been better without the lobster, it had no flavor. I was offered dessert, but our server said there was absolutely no espresso or coffee beans. There was only premade espresso for espresso martinis. So, I didn't try the dessert.

We sat outside on the patio. Food was a 5/10, but service and management was 10/10, bringing this score average up to an 8. The calamari was okay. Cooked well but nothing exciting or stand out - ish about it. My husband's chicken was overcooked and the steak for my salad was overcooked as well- I told them not to worry about it but they took the extra steps of giving us free dessert and a complementary wine on the house. For that, I would come back here again in the hopes that food would be better the next go around. Management can truly make a difference in the mind of the customer and this is a prime example.

Loud inside - but we enjoyed The Woolworth. This was our first time here. We had 6:30 pm reservations on a Friday night. It's on the second floor so you have to walk up the stairs to get to it. There was an elevator and I was able to send a hostesss down with a key to open the elevator for my wife to use. Following dinner, they said the elevator was broken :( We sat in the main, indoor eating / bar area at a 4-top next to a window the overlooked the outdoor seating area. Our server, Ramadan K was over quickly to take our drink order (Long Island Iced Tea and a Lavender Haze). It took a bit for the drinks to arrive but that gave us time to survey the menu. We were sharing and we ordered the Little Gem Salad to start. We loved the Little Gem! The Catch of the Day was Mahi Mahi and the preparation sounded good, so we ordered and shared that. It was great. I ordered a second Lavender Haze cocktail and my wife ordered a glass of Riesling. Other than the elevator issue, the only other dislike was the noise level. It was real loud inside. But in spite of that, we'd come back to The Woolworth as the service level and food variety and quality were great. We'd likely try sitting outside next time.

So I was planning a team outing here and had to cancel but the Sales Rep, Jean, was so nice I decide to just come and try the place out for dinner for myself. Man I am glad I did. The place was popping and I smelled the food as I walked up the stairs to the second floor. I am not a big drinker but I did order the lychee diamond and it was Delicious. I then ordered lobster egg rolls. 100/10. Came out in minutes and was piping hot and soo very good. I ate every piece of it. Again the place is a whole vibe. I ordered the jumbo prawns and polenta entree with an order of Brussels sprouts. I ate it all everything was seasoned to perfection. So glad I opted to go out for dinner instead of Staying inside. If your downtown Dallas come and check this place out And thank me later

Today we took a client to lunch and wow! We split three sandwiches just so we could try them and we were blown away! Service by Chris was awesome, he brought the energy and he was super attentive. The ambiance was quiet and allowed us to talk even though they were very busy. Well done!

The food was delicious! The house made hot sauce was a perfect topper for brunch. Cris made our visit especially memorable with his excellent service and friendly conversation. 5/5

During our visit in Dallas we came here based on hotel front desk recommendation. The foods were good but the drinks were sooooo good! Our server Edward was so friendly and funny. He made our visit super pleasant. True Southern hospitality! Highly recommend this place!

Outstanding service by Brayan. I need to eat gluten-free and he walked me through the menu and double-checked for options at brunch. I had the crab nachos with avocado slices - very tasty. My husband had the short rib skillet and said it was very good as well. Highly recommend.

The Woolworth has easily become a go to for my family. We also tend to end up here when friends are in town for lunch and at times dinner and cocktails. The service is always welcoming and the food has always been on point. My family favorites are the crab nachos, lobster grill cheese, seafood salad & crab cake sandwich. The struggle Fries aren't worth writing home about as the additional $4 isn't worth the small sprinkle of parsley and cheese. Opt for the sweet potato tots instead. The views are great from the booths at the window additionally the book room that appears like a library is very appealing. Our children enjoy going into the room and using their reading rainbow imagination of secret doors behind the books :-)

Perla was amazing! She was awesome and so attentive. Food was delicious and so were the drinks.

Brunch @ Woolworth Food wise: 3/5 good, not amaaaaazing. Nothing I hadn't had before. I would go back but I don't think I'd ever crave going back. I got the zoodles which were great for what they are, and my friend got the B&G which he also thought was simple but good. Heads up: The bacon was more small cut up pieces sprinkled in and not strips and there was hardly any sausage. It was mostly eggs on top of gravy on top of biscuit. Service: amazinggg 5/5, we had (was it Tori?) she's normally a bartender but was serving brunch and she was amazing with recommendations and had a very good knowledge of the menu and atmosphere. Ambiance: 3/5, I actually think it was decorated so cute for Christmas and this could have probably easily been a 4 or 5 out of 5 but our specific table was on the outskirts, close to the front staircase entrance so it was cute but didn't feel like an "experience", if you will. Overall 4/5

We came in near closing time, but Emilia provided us great service and stayed attentive even though they were clearly packed. We were seated at a table near the door, and unfortunately it had a vomit smell. Whatever it was, my friend could not stand it and had to get up and step away from the table. We first thought the culprit was the paper drink coasters, but then the staff removed the door mat near us later on, so maybe someone puked on it and the smell lingered, even after it was cleaned up. Clear Mizu ($16): This has Sakura vermouth and bitters, so we ordered it. It tasted like straight up gin and was not good. It was actually one of the rare times my husband could not finish his drink. Kyoto Sunset ($15): This one wasn't bad and tasted like honeydew. The ingredients include honeydew Calpico, so that makes sense. Johnny Walker Black ($16): This was our friend's drink, which I think was just coke and Johnny Walker. Nothing special about the taste either. Given the smell and so-so/terrible cocktails, we will not be coming back or taking our friends here.

The staff was very welcoming, and the other guests I encountered were friendly and sociable. The drinks were excellent. On my first visit, I had the Hugo Spritz, which was mixed to perfection. During my second visit, I tried the Bitter Lemon Soda, which was also very good--simple, refreshing, and without any overpowering flavors. I actually enjoyed The Bowen House so much that I went twice during my weekend trip to Dallas. It has an almost speakeasy-like atmosphere, with low lighting and a cozy, historic feel. It's also in a very walkable area, which made it easy to visit on foot. There is some parking available, although I would say it's somewhat limited. I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Between the atmosphere, welcoming service, and well-crafted drinks, it's definitely a place I would return to the next time I'm in town.
