We really enjoyed our recent visit to Hudson House in West Village. Even though we intended to valet when we got there, we passed a parking spot opening up on our drive through the village, so parking was a breeze. First time at this location, we had outdoor seating reservations and only had a small wait. Service was top notch and we really enjoyed our food. I love dining al fresco and this location has a small patio area that's perfect for a relaxing dinner outdoors. The outside tables were covered with pristine white tablecloths, and that was a major plus for me! I had the French chicken and hubs had the cheeseburger. The stone fruit martini was the best part of dinner. The house margarita also gets an honorable mention. Overall, no complaints and Hudson House remains a solid choice for date night! read more

From my understanding, this location opened in February. I recently visited on a date and ordered the lobster roll with fries and mac and cheese, while my friend had the redfish. Unfortunately, the redfish lacked flavor, and my first cocktail arrived without a garnish, which felt like a missed detail. The lobster roll was just okay. I've been a longtime fan of the Addison location, so I was a little disappointed to find that the tuna tartare seems to have changed. It wasn't bad, but it didn't justify the price in my opinion. That said, there were definitely some positives. The decor is beautiful, the atmosphere is inviting, and our server was excellent throughout the experience. Overall, the space has a lot of potential, but I think the food and cocktail program could benefit from some refinement and updates. This restaurant took over the old Mi Cocina space in West Village and has a relaxed dockside/boathouse vibe inside. The host staff was friendly and organized despite a busy afternoon, and our server Natalia was attentive and accommodating throughout the meal. We started with the shrimp cocktail, which was fresh, meaty, and served with two tasty sauces. I ordered the lobster roll but was surprised to find it was more of a lobster salad roll than a traditional warm lobster roll. Thankfully, Natalia checked with the kitchen and was able to have a plain lobster roll with clarified butter made for me, which I really appreciated. Hudson House absolutely delivered on date night -- this place has a great thing going. We walked in on a weeknight and were seated right away in the main dining room, which was a nice start. The vibe in there is really cool with wood-paneled walls, nautical accents, and soft lighting that give it that East Coast-inspired feel without being stuffy about it. It's the kind of place that feels equally at home for a casual dinner or a proper date night. Service was genuinely excellent too. A manager checked in on us multiple times throughout the meal, and when another server noticed we had finished one of our plates, they came right over without us having to flag anyone down. That kind of attentiveness is hard to find. On to the food. We started with the crispy rice tuna, which was awesome. I could have eaten twice as much of it, but for what you get the price is fair. We followed that up with the double cheeseburger, and let me tell you, the online hype is earned. Perfectly cooked, and the pickles and Hudson sauce really tied the whole thing together. For a side I went with the lobster mac and cheese, because honestly how do you say no to that? Absolutely delish. My wife got the chicken parm, which was massive and just as good the next day as it was fresh, always a good sign. Happy hour pricing doesn't carry over into the main dining room, just worth knowing ahead of time, but it wasn't a dealbreaker for us going in. Overall this was a really great night out. Service was decent, the staff was nice. I will say that the food seems to be a reasonably priced for what it is as well. The french chicken was well seasoned and tender and came with fries and salad. The hudson salad was a hefty portion and tasted great- I wish it just came either predressed or with a larger serving of dressing. I will say that the restaurant is very loud however, it was difficult to hear and talk to my server at times just because of the volume of the music and background chatter, so would definitely recommend going for the patio or bar if you're looking for something more intimate! Decided to check out the hype around Hudson house! Met a girlfriend around 6pm and the place was packed always a good sign. A lovely couple offered us their table so we didn't have to wait, but just know, this place is busy during happy hour! Our server was super sweet and very nice! I asked for a recommendation for a martini (I'm not a martini girl) and she was honest and told me to stick to what I know! I ended up getting three French 75's and they were delicious. Frosty glass and all. The food came out quickly and everything was really good. I didn't love the lobster mac, a little too runny for me but the Beverly salad and oysters were delicious! Went for lunch on a Friday and it was packed. Not surprising as HH has great dishes. This was my first visit to the Uptown location but it won't be my last. My fave meal is the French Chicken which is what I ordered this time also. I did question the portion size of the sides that came with the dish as it was much smaller than I'd had at other locations I've visited. The manager immediately noticed and fixed that small issue. Hudson House provided a superb birthday dining experience for me and my friend! We walked over as West Village parking can be a nightmare on busy weekend evenings, but there are lots (including a multi tier parking deck) nearby. We arrived 15 mins early and were greeted warmly by the hostesses. The ambiance is very coastal, almost as if you're eating at a high end restaurant right on the beach. We tried to grab a quick drink at the bar but it was packed! Thankfully, we didn't have to wait long and weee seated at our table. I ordered the strawberry spritz to start, which was just okay. I usually love a sweet drink, but I was a huge fan of this rendition of a spritz. We split the spicy tuna crispy rice to start, and it was amazing. I'm a huge crispy rice fan, but usually they're so small and not worth it. I thought that these bites, albeit still small, were tasty enough to support the pricing. For my meal I ordered the lobster roll. I grew up a frequent eater of lobster rolls at the shore, so I take them very seriously. There's also two different types of lobster rolls, of which I prefer the Connecticut style. When I asked the waitress which version it was, she just responded "the usual kind! It's delicious and our top seller!" Now the lobster roll was delicious, but was unfortunately served cold (Maine style). The lobster part of the meal was delicious and fresh and PLENTIFUL!! However, while bread was a bit crumbly. I also prefer my loaf with a little butter to make it nice and soft. Your meal also comes with a HUGE serving of French fries, which were nice and crispy with a tinge of sweetness, yet a bit undersalted. My friend got the burger and said it was totally worth the hype. Would come back to order it again. And this guy is a meat eater. However, the burger doesn't come with fries which is basically an American crime!! He ordered a side of the truffle parm fries, and they were also bountiful, crispy and delicious. But seriously. Serve a burger with fries automatically on the side. It was my friends birthday, and Hudson House staff were super receptive about serving it and celebrating my friend. There is no cake fee, which is also so nice!! To accommodate our delicious mango yuzo chantilly cake, I finished with a stone fruit martini. This was delicious!! I would go back just to order this. Knock -knock ! I went back to the Hudson House to share my earlier experience with the manager ( very nice guy) I voice my concerns and kept it short because the entire restaurant was packed. I decided to take a seat ( the only one available) at a very very busy and crowded bar / it's definitely Happy Hour ! The atmosphere was definitely at a 10 / as I watched the two bartenders make drinks nonstop / one for the servers and the other for the bar patrons ! I didn't mind waiting bc the bartender was extremely busy !! I was already impressed at how she was maintaining service for every guest at the bar ! Ashley is a superstar ! Did you hear me ? Very good service. Jordan and Madison were awesome! They both went above and beyond to enhance our dining experience at the bar. We went a few times already and the service is always outstanding. Truly! The tuna roll was the best item on the menu and the fish tacos are absolutely incredible, the burger is excellent but I'm not a fan of the pickle spear that comes with the burger. They have a happy hour on weekdays and the burger is discounted but it doesn't come with fries. Fries can be added as a separate dish. The regular seasoned fries and the truffle fries are both equally delicious. I would say the Maine lobster roll is better than the Connecticut style as it has more to it. The lobster mac and cheese was one of the better lobster mac's so I do recommend it. You can't go wrong, everything on the menu is good. We will keep coming back! read more

Disappointing experience compared to the great service at the Lakewood and Lover's Lane location. The host stand warmly greeted us, but the server experience was awkward and sub par. I don't even think it's the server's fault -- I think the training needs to be elevated. First, there was a handoff between servers that was awkward at the start, our drinks came after the apps although we placed them first. Our sushi came with no soy sauce and we had to point out that it wasn't received yet. Our shrimp app didn't have the usual sauce that is drizzled on the top and on the lettuce (as we had had probably 10 times at the other locations) and we had to ask for our water to be refilled because I was totally out and no one noticed. Lastly, no anticipation of needs or recommendations of menu items, like we experience at most restaurants. Maybe it's a lack of knowledge of the menu. The final thing that was most annoying was my husband's redfis was very undercooked -- it was a weird shade of opaque grey in the middle and had no sear on it. The manager gave us a comped dessert which they brought one out...and two other servers came out with more slices thinking we had not received it yet. Seems like the front of house and back of house operations need better communication & improvement. Overall, our least favorite visit to Hudson House and quite disappointing that it was for a birthday. The service needs some improvement. read more

The waiter recommended a mobile payment system, which I was happy to use since it's usually a nice convenience for everyone. What I didn't realize until the very end was that it tacked on a $1.49 fee just to pay my bill. The charge is easy to miss, and I shouldn't have to pay extra simply to settle my tab. It left a sour taste in an otherwise excellent meal. Either offer a service like this for free or don't offer it at all. read more

Finally tried this place today after being curious about it for a while. The parking wasn't too bad, we just parked in the free garage across the street. The ambiance was great, bustling but clean, it really looked like a nicely decorated home without being too much. The staff were very nice and accommodating. I got the lobster Mac n cheese, it was tasty and creamy. Could have had more lobster in it for the price but I wasn't disappointed by it. The ahi tuna salad was just okay, I've had better. If I were to get it again, I would have asked them to toss it in dressing before bringing it to the table. It was just so many greens for the amount of toppings there were. The ahi tuna was fresh and cooked perfectly. The biggest disappointment was the key lime pie. It was bland from the filling to the crust. Would not recommend it. They usually put caramel and pecans on top but I wanted the option of tasting just the pie as I don't like overly sweet desserts. When the check came, they were charged full price for the drinks (martini and wine) because we had a table in the dining room and you can't take advantage of happy hour drinks or food if your table is not in the bar. When we heard Hudson House opened in our neighborhood, we were really excited and came ready to order a lot. We arrived early at 7:10 for our 7:30 reservation and got a text at 7:25 saying our table was ready, but there was some confusion at the host stand. The host didn't seem very attentive, and after we checked back in, someone else told us our table had already been ready. Our waiter, Rolando, was friendly but missed a few details. He recommended the pressed ahi tuna sushi but he never put the order in, and a second cabernet we asked for with our steak never came. When our steak arrived, we also had to ask the water server for a steak knife. It felt like he may have been overwhelmed, but more attention to detail would have made a big difference. Overall, the ambience was lovely and the food that did come was great. The food and drinks are always great, but I am hoping the service will get better. I have frequented Hudson house for years and love the Lovers, Forest, and Lakewood locations. Always great service and vibe, but went to the new one in west village two weeks ago and was really disappointed. This was my 3rd time visiting and the service has already gone downhill from the first visit. I made a reservation for 6 people about 3 weeks in advance. When I walked in the hostesses greeted me and when I said my name they said "oh okay, we need to figure a few things out and then we will get you seated". My group was fine to wait and it was nice outside so we were happy. 10 minutes later they got us and asked if we were okay with sitting outside. We said of course and they led us to two tables pushed together to make a square right by the front door. I know the patio isn't large, but it was just an awkward set up for the group. We waited for 10 minutes to be greeted by a waiter and ordered drinks that then took 20 minutes to get to us. It was a Friday night so understand they were busy but we all ordered very basic drinks. Also ordered some appetizers which came out before the drinks and without silverware, chopsticks, and soy sauce. Had to ask two different waiters for all of those things. We ordered our meals and finished our drinks and ordered another round. 20 minutes later the food arrived and still no drinks. Halfway through our entrees we finally got our drinks and no sign of our waiter or water refills. A member of my group walked inside to ask for more water and the nice manager came and refilled it. I live in the neighborhood and really do love Hudson House, but as they keep expanding I expect the same great hospitality and experience as any location.
