The wings were so good, it was my first time having them and you get a lot, enough to share or to eat alone and have some to go home. The cake was so worth it! It was an Oreo cake slice! It was so moist. I want to give a shoutout to Olivia who handled my family on Father's Day and Moo (or Mu) for happy hour with the girls...both ladies gave amazing top tier service and offered great recommendations!! My mom and I have become a regular here for brunch so it's only fair I right a review. I love this place and the food and drinks have been consistent each visit, which is definitely a plus. Pornstar Martini, Crab Fingers, Spicy Lamb Chops, and Spicy Vodka Pasta are just a few of my favorites but honestly I doubt you'll be disappointed with anything you try on the menu. Beautiful space! The famous "bear" was adorable and I appreciated the special pops of detail all across the patio and inside. The marketing and decor team did a fantastic job here. The Charlotte is a Black-Owned bistro located off Henderson. They offer valet parking at the back of the restaurant but we were lucky to find a couple of street parking spots. For starters we tried the spinach and artichoke dip. This was just okay, the dip itself lacked a little bit of flavor, but it was a cozy app to try. I couldn't decide between the vodka pasta and the burger and our server suggested the latter which I opted for. The burger was good! It comes with a delicious sauce and I ordered a side of truffle fries and broccolini. Overall the vibes were amazing. I didn't indulge in any cocktails so I'm curious to see how those are and will return to check out their patio which was closed for a photoshoot the day we visited. Our server seemed a bit disengaged and we had to flag her down a couple of times because we were forgotten. We did have to move from the patio to indoors because we had some bees that were trying to join us for lunch lol. I'll definitely be back! read more

Friday night sounded great for my favorite hour. I have been wanting to try happy hour here for a while. I'm so glad I made a reservation. It was packed and they were turning walk-in's away. The last time I came was for brunch with friends. It's been over a year since our last visit. So we decided to meet up for a Galentines HAPPY HOUR! I'm was hoping things had improved since they are not new anymore. The restaurant is still charming and cute. I love the ambiance. The giant teddy bears throughout the restaurant. The red decor for Valentine's weekend. It was sexy and cozy with the red pops of color. Service was good! My waiter was pleasant and polite. The happy hour prices were great. I was able to try some new items cheaper! The happy hour menu has more cocktail, wine and beer choices than food. My friend and I both ordered the happy hour smash cheeseburger. The smash burger was good. It's huge and is loaded with pickles, caramelized onions, cheese and hamburger meat. I opted NOT to get the jerk aioli on it. Thanks to another Yelp review who said the jerk aioli was too much. I asked for that sauce on the side. I'm so glad I did because it reminded me of jerk chicken. I would not have liked it on my burger. It's very spicy and overpowering. I asked for ketchup and mustard and that complimented the burger well. She ordered some truffle fries and I helped her eat them. They give you a lot of fries. They were tasty and definitely enough to share. The Caesar Salad was huge. You can share this too. It's also on the happy hour menu. It was presented nicely. For cocktails we chose the Porn Star Martini which was delicious. The passion fruit flavor was on point. The drink was classy and sassy. I've already reviewed The Charlotte, and my five stars still stand. This time, I tried the catfish and spaghetti. The spaghetti has a slight spice to it that really takes the flavor up a notch. The combination of the two works surprisingly well. My only recommendation would be to fry the catfish a little harder. It was a bit soft, and since you are pairing it with spaghetti, it could really benefit from that extra crunch for better texture contrast. That said, the fish itself was well seasoned and still very good. The staff here continues to be amazing, and the restaurant is just as beautiful as ever. Whipped potatoes were easily one of the best parts of the meal--super buttery and melt-in-your-mouth. If substitutions are an option, I'd skip the potato pave next time and opt. for that instead. Service was on par and the teddy bear theme throughout the restaurant was so cute. They give you gummy bears at the end of the meal and have giant teddy bears around the restaurant for photo ops. We ordered a bottle of wine, and it was simply set on the table with an ice bucket--they didn't even place it in the bucket, pour it, or provide any level of wine service. We also specifically asked for the meal to be coursed, but after the appetizers arrived, all remaining dishes came out at once. To make matters worse, the table next to us was loudly FaceTiming the entire time, and no one from the restaurant addressed it. For a $300+ dinner for two, the overall experience fell far short of expectations. The arancini and calamari were very good, but the burgers were dry, and the Caesar salad and truffle fries were just okay. Overall, the food and service didn't justify the cost. The happy hour food menu is a tad bit limited, especially for vegetarians. I ordered the spinach dip, which was delicious (very similar to Hillstone's spinach dip). So I've officially visited The Charlotte after attending Orchestra Noir at the Majestic downtown on Saturday. A girlfriend that attended the concert with me recommended we swing by forsoemthing light to eat. Parking was great and hassle free "Valet!" We were greeted by James and hen I say this youngannwas everywhere ..." host, server, wishing us a great night and Happy Easter and even giving a pen on the way out! ( That man needs a raise; job security at its finest honey!) Okay back to the story. So we told him we didn't have a reservation but we would sit at the bar if open seating was available. He notified us of 2 bars first floor and second floor and recc the second floor. When we were seated we were greeted by Bri our server and when I tell you Sis skin and makeup were flawless (she did that) , but my friend and I both went for the Caesar Salads ( I added grilled shrimp and salmon), I had an amazing cocktail and my friend tried the Chicken Nuggets and Caviar. Then after eating and catching up we were introduced to Michael bartender, patron of all things awesome, and a part-time comedian. He was great! In the house of closing they all still remained happy, shared a couple of laughs and did amazing. I will be back for happy hour and brunch. I think I enjoy dinner more than brunch--there are more food options that taste better. It's a small, intimate venue, with teddy bears everywhere, and the service is pretty good as well. I will say that last time, I dined for brunch, and a lot of things were off the menu/ sold out, which was a little bummer, but we made it work. For apps, I really enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip, calamari, and crab fried rice. 10/10 For drinks, I love the Pornstar and Frosé! 10/10 To be honest, I was not impressed by the Smashburger. It was a little underwhelming. It lacked seasoning, and the hamburger bun seemed tough. If that makes sense, it wasn't light and fluffy. Once we finally sat down, it took another 10 minutes just to get water and that only happened because I asked someone walking by. The oysters were good but not hot, and the Caesar salad was honestly not that great. For dinner, we had the lamb chops, which were pretty good but a bit on the spicy side. The asparagus wasn't very enjoyable, but the truffle fries were the standout of the entire meal easily the best thing we had. My friend ordered the pasta with salmon and didn't enjoy it at all. I had the opportunity to have dinner with my daughter the other night, who wanted to try something different. She came across this restaurant on OpenTable, and we figured we would give it a try. I will say this is a unique establishment, from the decor to the entree choices. The waiter, Hakeem, did a great job servicing us, so I wanted to give him a shout-out. We enjoyed the Calimari as an appetizer, not heavily breaded, so you could see what you were eating, and the portion was satisfying. Now for the uniqueness, I had the Spaghetti & Catfish, my daughter had the Crab Cake Salad with blackened shrimp on the side. I would never order spaghetti in a restaurant, especially given the markup, but I was pleasantly surprised when I did, because the meat sauce has a little kick, which I enjoyed. When the entrees came, I was expecting more in terms of portion size, but surprisingly, they were fulfilling. My daughter stated the crab cake was underwhelming, unfortunately. We ended our meal with banana bread with vanilla ice cream on the side. All in all, this is a nice place to experience with a great vibe, a little noisy if staying inside, but expected. read more

I remember a time when The Charlotte was Cuba Libre, an amazing Latin fusion spot off Henderson in uptown where I had my (insert young age) birthday party upstairs. (Still a 2 story dining experience) It has probably been a couple other establishments since but has morphed into a teddy bear themed brunch spot with cocktails and American fare. When I say teddy bear themed, I mean teddy bears are pretty much all over the place. Some big and some not so big. A little eerie yet cute? The front window is stained like church glass. Not sure what that's about but overall nice decor & always a fan of complimentary valet parking. Our server was cool and knowledge of the menu with suggestions, but she would take our drinks & almost plates before some of us were done! Without asking first. I know when I pay for alcohol I'd like to finish it up. Also I specifically ordered the Peach Bellini and never said frozen but she brought a frozen one. It was good, just not what I ordered because while it's $2 more, there's a difference in cost so I think she knows what she's doing. There are 3 zero proof mocktails available, which is always nice, including a drink called the Porn Star Martini. One of my friends had the mock version and a couple others had the real one. They seemed to like it. They make the drinks aesthetically pleasing. For my main entree I had the Cajun Truffle Malfadine with grilled chicken which was tasty. Anything truffle & pasta count me in! (You can get it fried or grilled or other protein) Others enjoyed the avocado toast, pancakes and salad. I'd love to test their elotes or sandwiches on another visit. I would imagine the spinach artichoke dip is probably good as well but $20 seems a bit steep. We brought in our own nothing Bundt cake to celebrate my friend's birthday that day, which didn't seem to be a problem or incur any fee. They were accommodating and it was also only 6 of us. All in all the place is decent, and I guess given the location, price points were up there but for the portions of food & drink might be slightly overpriced. Not huge portions at all. There's a bar upstairs and our table felt a little on the cozy side, but maybe because there were 6 of us and the table could've been meant for 5. We were still comfortable enough. It wasn't a bad brunch but any means but let's see if the oversized teddies make it beyond 2026, and if something else takes its place. This is probably a 3.5 star rating. RIP Cuba Libre. I made a reservation for a Sunday night at The Charlotte, and from start to finish, it was such a great experience! It wasn't too packed when I arrived, and I was even seated a little early. I really liked that they offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and the patio has two levels. I sat upstairs, which was a great atmosphere and setting. The ambience overall was really nice, from the stylish bar area to the cute teddy bear decor touches that gave the place such a fun vibe. The menu was impressive! They have a separate gluten-free and vegan menu with plenty of options, which I really appreciated. I ordered the crab fingers and tried a mix of the garlic lemon butter, and Cajun butter (per my waiter's suggestion), and it was absolutely delicious. I also had the gluten-free Cajun truffle mafaldine pasta with blackened chicken. The pasta was rich and flavorful, and the chicken was perfectly seasoned. I would've loved just a little more sauce, but even without it, the dish was still amazing. For my drink, I went with the Porn Star Martini, but since I'm not much of a vodka girl, I asked if they could make it with rum instead. The bartender was super accommodating, and the drink turned out really good! The service overall was excellent, attentive, friendly, and welcoming. Sitting outside with some smooth R&B music playing in the background made the whole experience even better. For my first visit to The Charlotte, I couldn't have asked for more. I'll definitely be back when I'm in town. The only thing I will say is that they weren't very attentive to my reservation details like most restaurants I came here for my birthday, and there was no sort of acknowledgment. If that's the type of thing that you care about. The Charolotte had Valet which was complimentary but you could tip (which we did). The establishment was giving nice and romantic vibes. It was a 2 floor restaurant. Lights were dim for dinner time and music was playing . The staff were pretty friendly. Had a reservation for 2 and had no wait to be seated. However , it took about 20 minutes just to get our order started and I'm not sure if it was due to a shift change. Nonetheless , we were able to get our order taken and after that everything went smoothly. The menu was pretty short and sweet. There were good choices to choose from.
