See pics for context!! Not a soul up on the rooftop and 3 waitresses for the area. Our waitress was untrained, super busy visiting her friend the entire time and unable to handle any request. Menu says wings come with a choice of two sauces (ranch, honey mustard, blue cheese, hot honey). We ordered the wings with ranch and blue cheese. The wings came with just ranch and so we asked the waitress. Hey we asked for the ranch and blue cheese. She said we don't carry blue cheese. We said, it says it on the menu. She said, I know it does, but we don't carry it. (hold that thought it gets funnier later ) My mom got a salad that came with balsamic dressing. She asked for olive oil and vinegar and waitress said the only dressing choice besides balsamic was ranch. I got the wedge salad with... guess what.... blue cheese dressing which actually came on it so they do in fact, have blue cheese dressing So then one of the other waitresses from the behind the bar came over to check on us and I said we ordered the wings with blue cheese and ranch, but we only got ranch. And she said OK I'll get you some blue cheese. And I said also do you have olive oil and vinegar. She said yes I'll get you some olive oil and vinegar. Both things that we had asked our original waitress, who continues to be visiting with her friend and taking selfies with her friend and had said these items were unavailable available. So the attentive waitress comes back, not with oil and vinegar, but with a dressing container, full of just olive oil ‍, and not a dressing container with blue cheese dressing, but a dressing container full of just blue cheese crumbles‍. OK, we are going to deal with that. I mean, blue cheese crumbles are great, but they were a little hard to dip your wings into!!. So we asked that waitress for an extra ranch which she immediately brings and we put the blue cheese crumbles into one of the ranches and basically make our own blue cheese dressing. Problem solved. (except for the olive oil and vinegar situation which we just dropped at this point.) Our original waitress never bussed our table for over an hour. We had long finished our cocktails, and they were obviously watered down and done, and we had moved onto a bottle of wine. (I had to go up to the bar and order a bottle of wine myself because again she was clearly at work for other reasons besides actually doing work). Long after we were halfway through the bottle of wine she swaggered over and asked if we needed anything which at that point the only thing we needed was a clean table, but we chose not to ask her for it at that time. So this is the Farmville plague. We have places that have potentially good food, have a nice venue, in this case, a fantastic view, but management continues to hire Longwood students who have no experience in the food, industry, or even any personal experience of nicer dining themselves. And there's no manager watching what these kids are doing and guiding them. We see this over and over again in Farmville where the restaurant has potential, but they just won't train their waitresses. Un-bussed table for the duration of our stay. Incorrect information about what dressings they do and don't have. Lackadaisical attitude about getting us anything outside of what she could punch into the computer straight off the menu. And as seen in the pictures, getting paid by the hour to socialize with her buddy. A real shame for such a beautiful rooftop bar that actually has good food read more

We stopped in for a drink and a snack and had a really nice time. The waitstaff were wonderful and the view is magnificent. The seasonal cocktails that we tried were very nice and refreshing. We also had a dip trio platter for a snack that was quite good. There is a feta cheese blend on it that is heavy on the garlic but yummy( make sure anyone you want to be within 10 feet of has some too). Keep in mind it is an open rooftop so very weather dependent. Definitely will try this place for dinner in the future. read more

The atmosphere was lovely for a fall evening to enjoy the rooftop for drinks. The bartender was friendly, professional and charismatic. Because of this unique destination location of a rooftop terrace we would recommend serious marketing and possibly live entertainment on weekends. Having your televisions working for the guests to enjoy music videos or sports during the week and week days may also be beneficial. Perhaps the installation of igloos with electric heaters and Bluetooth speakers for late fall and winter guests to enjoy would allow the terrace to be used throughout the year. As a guest staying in your historic hotel it would have been nice to have enjoyed coffee, tea and a nice pastry on your front terrace in the warm sunshine in the afternoon. It definitely would have been a nice bonus to have within your hotel dining and entertainment facilities available that did not close at 1pm or 9pm or because it was 65 degrees on a very nice seasonable fall evening. Because of this, we could not enjoy an afternoon coffee, a late night snack or the pleasure of the atmosphere of the rooftop terrace. These are only constructive suggestions from a prior 5 Star 5 Diamond restaurant manager in a prominent historical resort hotel as well as casual fine dining restaurant owners. This is the view! I love looking out below when I come up here. Located at the top of Hotel Weyanoke, this is a great place to have drinks and even dessert. You don't even have to stay at the hotel to come here, but it's very convenient if you do. The warm summer days are coming to an end, but fall drinks have us coming back for more. The staff here is always good, even though it gets a little busy. I always look forward to coming back! read more

We stayed at the Weyanoke Hotel and came up to the rooftop after our dinner at Tap Root. We sat at the bar counter and enjoyed having a nice bartender. By suggestion of the waitress downstairs we ordered the Banana Hammock (off the menu drink). It was sweet and tasty which made for a nice after dinner drink. The view is beautiful and you really can't go wrong sitting up there soaking in Farmville. read more

Napkins provided were cocktail napkins and with a chicken sandwich layered with pimento cheese that ended up being a sh#t show. Took forever to get drinks - highly recommend going directly to bar yourself. Had to go to bar to pay bill. We had one person bring us drinks, another the food, another pre-bussed and check deliverer was missing in action. Lots of folks talking about the bad service. read more

The atmosphere is great! Beautiful view of Farmville. Went on a Friday evening at 630pm. Amazingly slow service. Sitting at the bar and overlooked by the bartenders for several minutes. Drinks arrived: blackberry mojito was sour. Remade and 2nd time was some better. Food order placed near 7. Wings & pizza. They weren't sure if they had wings. 10min later confirmed they had wings. Now the food order was placed. 20min later arrived the wings with pizza on the way. Wings had a hint of spice but were cooked well and yummy. After we demolished the wings we asked about our pizza. Manager saw the order was placed 55min ago and "rushed" the pizza. It was barely warm; thankfully we were not charged. I'd go again but only for the view and a beer. read more

Loved this and was so grateful to come on a Monday night when not crowded. The views are hard to describe but awesome and the pizzas were large and tasty. Tried the figalicuous (different and fantastic....wonder if some bacon added might be a zinger?). Bartender served the entire place and did a masterful job. Such a chill rooftop! I love going to rooftop bars to see the surrounding views, and this one delivered. I came here with a large group on a recent Saturday, and given the night was a little chilly, we had almost the entire place to ourselves. This worked out well, because we could casually talk to the bartenders and take our time hanging out at the bar itself and then moving over to a table once we got food. We ordered a couple of cocktails, hot chocolate, one hot cocoa with butterscotch schnapps, brussels sprouts, and a mushroom pizza to share. Everything was delicious and came out timely. The food comes from the hotel's restaurant, Effingham's, so delivery is based on how busy they are downstairs. The brussels sprouts were covered in a tasty honey and soy sauce glaze and came with peanuts. We found it to be a little salty. The portion size was large and filling enough to share among 5 people. The pizza had a white sauce base, ricotta cheese, and mushrooms. It was cooked well, and only needed some red pepper flakes to add an additional layer of flavor. Catbird offers a long list of cocktails; I had a variation of a mule, and it was delicious! Not to mention the prices were very wallet-friendly. Unfortunately, the menu doesn't seem to be posted online anywhere, but rest assured, you will find something to enjoy. Given the cooler weather ahead, the bartenders were kind enough to let us know that they will be closed for the season starting the first weekend of November until it gets warm again. They don't have standing heaters yet, so I would be curious to see if they are able to invest in them one day to elongate the business season! This place is just what Farmville needed! It is extremely nice and the view is gorgeous! They have some great snack options and the drinks are great! They're pretty strong, but you get your money's worth so no complaints here! When it starts to get crowded, they stop letting people up pretty fast, but it's understandable. It can tend to be slow on popular nights! Check this place out on a nice summer night and listen to some live music with a good drink! You can't beat it! read more
