Excellent service, food and cocktails with beautiful decor. Live music was an added bonus. We were very impressed with everything. I can only imagine on a beautiful day with everything open how gorgeous this would be. The outdoor area looked really nice.

first off shoutout to Ben Vaughns for great service and recommending the Cuban, was one of the best appetizers I've had in a while and the drinks were absolutely amazing as well. Glad to have a new place in the burg with a fun atmosphere and great aesthetic! Will definitely be coming back!

Gorgeous aesthetic inside and out, really great, friendly service! The food has pretty presentation overall but taste/quality is only ok. If that was leveled up we'd definitely go back. Drink (Old Fashion) was on point - best we've had at a restaurant/bar.

They recently started serving brunch on the weekends and oh my god. Steak Poutine, Coastal Board, and Croissant Beignets are incredible. Bloody Mary base is house made and the perfect blend of spicy and savory. Can't wait until it gets warmer to enjoy the patio!!!! Service is always fantastic.

The ambiance/decor is stunning! Absolutely in love with it, and I think it's very unique for the area. The pricing is a little more expensive than I think most people expect to see in the area, but I understand they're a higher end gastropub so I really don't mind. The cocktail list is amazing. We've been there a few times now, and the cocktail menu is unique and tasty. Honestly, the biggest downside here is the bartending service. I want to be very clear my service from the servers has always been great. However, the drinks are slow and that has been my consistent experience after several visits. They're slow enough that more than once a server has apologized for how slow the drinks are, which I can appreciate is not something the servers have control over.

At 8:30 p.m. this evening, my husband and I stepped in for a drink; the bar had a decent interior and decor. The female bartender was excellent tonight. My spouse asked for Elijah Craig Old-fashioned when he placed his order, and I got a New York sour then we received our bill after having a few drinks, the Elijah Craig old fashion came out to be $40 for one drink. The night manager tried to tell us that the bottle they have cost them $100 from their distributor, after my own research $50 gets you a bottle of Elijah Craig toast rye. The woman who appeared to be the night manager was quite impolite and unprofessional. Having previously worked in customer service, catering, and hospitality, she did not represent any of these qualities. We personally visited different country in the world, travelled across United States, and we have never spent forty dollars for an Elijah Craig old fashion. We will not come back or recommend this place to anyone. They lost a lifelong costumer after this evening.

    Appetizers aplenty at Glass House.

My daughter, Anna, visiting from NYC and I had dinner tonight at the new Glass House restaurant on Jefferson Street. The wine and bar offerings are substantial and unique. The five section menu includes three sections for hors d'oeuvres, one for the main course and one for dessert. All offerings are meant to serve two or more people. We probably overdid it since we were out for a monumental evening. This meant we outspend our nonexistent budget with the assistance of two credit cards. But if you order a little more conservatively, you could do better than our $150 final bill plus tip. We had four appetizers and two desserts, skipped the meat course all together, since Anna is a vegetarian And had a pitcher of sangria that was more than adequate for the evening. We did bring home most of one of the desserts, but polished off everything else with glee. The food was delightful, and even possibly exciting. With the same ownership as the water dog across the street, the two restaurants are not really comparable, but the remodeling of the Glasshouse interior Has been impressive. You can enjoy yourself here easily without partaking of the full five courses plus drinks. The surroundings are pleasant and the wait staff seems up to speed for a place that has been only open three weeks and was pretty busy on this Thursday evening that we visited.

Amazing experience!! Everything about this restaurant will have you reminiscing for weeks. The atmosphere is so unique and upscale, and not something I would expect to find in Lynchburg. The craft cocktails are delicious and I couldn't get enough of the food!! Incredibly high quality. My personal favorites were the empanadas and the wings. I look forward to seeing what changes are made on the rotating menu.

After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to return to those special ones, that have made a difference in my life and highlight them, for the benefit of the public, so they too can have an opportunity to appreciate the qualities of a one-of-a-kind fine dining experience. And Bernard's Gastropub & Eatery in Downtown Roanoke, is a perfect example. Bernard's was born out of the love of two culinary aficionados turned professionals that in someway have managed to create a restaurant with an environment that transmits this intimate love to the hearts of their customers through the attention to detail in its extraordinary customer service and amazing culinary masterpieces. Today, I felt like dining at this restaurant, which I admire for its consistency in always far exceeding my high expectations of what a fine-dining restaurant should be all about. Not knowing if they would have a table for me at this late time on a Saturday early evening, I drove in my pearl white Lexus to the nearest private parking lot and gave them a call to inquire as if they could give me a reservation for the next ten minutes. A gentleman, who later I found out was named Matthew, and would be my server, answered the phone with a very polite and welcoming voice; answering my question of what was the special dish of the day and to come on down, that my reservation was assured. As soon as I arrived to the small, very elegant foyer in front of the Host's station, he came out to greet me and instantly recognized who I was. My only request was that he give me a low table because at my age seating at a high table was a bit uncomfortable. He went back to see what he could find and ended setting me up with what I consider one of the best tables of the house, and I was so appreciative of his last minute accommodation. The menu was already setup on my table. He poured water from a special bottle into my water glass and asked if I wanted something else to drink. I asked for a Mocktail and since he also was a bartender, he prepared me one of the best mocktails I've ever had. To dine, I started out with their Mussels Carbonara appetizer, which came in a bacon parmesan cream sauce that was simply amazing, and served with toast points. As my main entrée I had the Dinner Special of the Night, the Seafood Trio. It had a delicious, giant size crab cake in the middle, scallops, and shrimps, with parmesan risotto sautéed heirloom tomato, spinach, and nice size asparagus, with a burre blanc sauce. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the high-quality of their food and magnificent ambiance of the place. Everything was so delicious that only one word could ever describe them: priceless! For dessert I had their very famous Butterscotch Banana Pudding, which the chef makes at the moment ordered. It looked spectacular and tasted amazingly delicious: a culinary work of art. What a great way for the Gran Finale of an extraordinary dining experience!

The lucky cube drink was creative and tasty. Brussel sprouts were also unique with a tahini sauce on top and perfectly crispy chickpeas. I'd seen "Smoke in Chimneys Trout" on a few menus in Roanoke this trip but never heard of that before. Looked it up and learned something new. They are trout that are local and prized for living in a lime stone aquifer rather than a river. Giving them a clean light slightly sweet taste, no essence of mud that can come with other river fish. I've never ordered trout in a restaurant, But when in Rome... Lol. The fish itself and the portion was really good. Wish I could remember my waitress' name. I was traveling with a friend up to Blacksburg so we could watch our alma mater, Virginia Tech, play North Carolina in a big early college football matchup. While driving up from Hampton Roads, we kind of settled on grabbing lunch at Sticks & Spoons Ramen Bar in Roanoke before checking into our hotel and then finally heading out for the game. We made good time and, wouldn't you know it, Sticks & Spoons was closed for renovations. S&S was located at small strip mall - so after seeing they were closed, we noticed Lazy Bulldog across the way. We figured, "Why not?" and headed over. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by Lazy Bulldog's co-owners, Brandon & Erika. They were quick to answer any questions about their menu, and Erika was kind enough to provide their establishment's history. The menu looked incredible as LB offered all kinds of burgers and sandwiches. We ordered the What the Ale Shrooms for an appetizer, which were fried button mushrooms in beer batter. It came with a homemade lemon aioli - both the shrooms & the aioli were delicious. I had the Surf 'N Turf Burger (1/3 lb beef patty, Old Bay fried shrimp, thick cut hickory bacon, lettuce, tomato, Sriracha aioli), while Neal ordered the Garlic Bomb (1/3 lb beef patty, cheddar, lettuce, sauteed garlic, red onion, homemade garlic aioli). Both of us enjoyed our choices and appreciated the excellent service from Erika and Brandon. Our entire experience was fantastic, which came with extra effort when Erika gave us free water while we chatted outside with one of Neal's former professors. LB closes for a couple of hours between lunch & dinner service, so Erika, as she was closing up and leaving, gladly provided the water and some extra produce she had grown herself. Thank you, Lazy Bulldog, for everything! I cannot wait to visit again when I return to Blacksburg! JV
