Service was great and they have a good sized parking lot as well. Just back from dinner at One19, Farmville's premier restaurant. The grilled shrimp special tonight, with grape and chili reduction and carrot parsnip puree was unbelievably good and one of the best dinners I've ever had. The cocktails are the best in town as well as the most original. I had the 'Where There's Smoke' which is a great blend of mescal, real smoke, and a variety of flavors. Good to the last drop. Billy the bartender (also the owner) is an expert on tequila and mescal. Our young server was outstanding, attentive but not intrusive, quick on his feet, and takes his job seriously. The wings came with just ranch and so we asked the waitress. Hey we asked for the ranch and blue cheese. She said we don't carry blue cheese. We said, it says it on the menu. She said, I know it does, but we don't carry it. (hold that thought it gets funnier later ) My mom got a salad that came with balsamic dressing. She asked for olive oil and vinegar and waitress said the only dressing choice besides balsamic was ranch. I got the wedge salad with... guess what.... blue cheese dressing which actually came on it so they do in fact, have blue cheese dressing So then one of the other waitresses from the behind the bar came over to check on us and I said we ordered the wings with blue cheese and ranch, but we only got ranch. And she said OK I'll get you some blue cheese. And I said also do you have olive oil and vinegar. She said yes I'll get you some olive oil and vinegar. Both things that we had asked our original waitress, who continues to be visiting with her friend and taking selfies with her friend and had said these items were unavailable available. So the attentive waitress comes back, not with oil and vinegar, but with a dressing container, full of just olive oil ‍, and not a dressing container with blue cheese dressing, but a dressing container full of just blue cheese crumbles‍. OK, we are going to deal with that. I mean, blue cheese crumbles are great, but they were a little hard to dip your wings into!!. So we asked that waitress for an extra ranch which she immediately brings and we put the blue cheese crumbles into one of the ranches and basically make our own blue cheese dressing. Problem solved. (except for the olive oil and vinegar situation which we just dropped at this point.) Our original waitress never bussed our table for over an hour. We had long finished our cocktails, and they were obviously watered down and done, and we had moved onto a bottle of wine. (I had to go up to the bar and order a bottle of wine myself because again she was clearly at work for other reasons besides actually doing work). Long after we were halfway through the bottle of wine she swaggered over and asked if we needed anything which at that point the only thing we needed was a clean table, but we chose not to ask her for it at that time. So this is the Farmville plague. We have places that have potentially good food, have a nice venue, in this case, a fantastic view, but management continues to hire Longwood students who have no experience in the food, industry, or even any personal experience of nicer dining themselves. And there's no manager watching what these kids are doing and guiding them. We see this over and over again in Farmville where the restaurant has potential, but they just won't train their waitresses. Un-bussed table for the duration of our stay. Incorrect information about what dressings they do and don't have. Lackadaisical attitude about getting us anything outside of what she could punch into the computer straight off the menu. And as seen in the pictures, getting paid by the hour to socialize with her buddy. A real shame for such a beautiful rooftop bar that actually has good food

It is very small, with about fifteen stools wrapping around a classic service counter. According to the menu, the diner is a "One-Master Model 15-Stool Valentine steel building," made by Valentine Manufacturing Company of Wichita, Kansas, in 1955. They have a small parking lot in back of the diner. I parked there and then saw a bathroom entrance sign -- after a 2 1/2-hour trip, nature was calling. It is a very clean bathroom located at the rear of the building, with a separate entrance from the parking lot. There is no access to the restroom from inside the diner -- a unique and nostalgic feature you don't see much anymore. I walked around to the front of the building, entered, sat down on a stool, and was greeted with, "Y'all having a good day so far?" I had a half sweet/half unsweet tea and the Cheeseburger Deluxe with no mayonnaise. It came with lettuce, tomato, pickle chips, onions, French fries, and cole slaw. I put ketchup on the fries, but the fresh tomato alone provided plenty of flavor for the juicy, delicious burger. The French fries were crispy and delicious -- exactly what you hope for at a classic diner. The cole slaw was outstanding and clearly tasted homemade. The pies looked incredible, and because the cheeseburger platter was so good, I had a piece of blueberry buttermilk cake topped with whipped cream -- wow! There is also a clearly posted 3% surcharge if paying with a credit card. Prices are reasonable, so it didn't feel like an issue. This was a great overall experience, and I would recommend this classic, nostalgic mid-20th-century diner to anyone traveling through Farmville. It closes at 2 pm, so plan accordingly!
