I was surprised how quiet the place was. I assume this is more of a college town than a tourist town, and college was out of session. It's not like there were a ton of places around. Having said that, I was pleased with my options here, and was hungry enough to devour both some tortilla chips with chopotle salsa and some indulgent mushroom tacos (albeit not hungry enough to ponder what I suspect would have been a quality dessert). Their vegetarian options are based around mushrooms, but I also got a lot of beans in on the side, and appreciated the freshly cooked peppers on the side. Dropped by while in town for business. The service was fast and polite. I ordered the chorizo chips and dip appetizer, the trout special, and a draft hard cider. Everything was good, but not great. The chips and queso were below average, but everything else was fair to above average. Extra star for friendly service, an appreciative owner, and a simple ambiance that was not too loud and not too quiet. Bill's got a really cool spot. Great selection of beers and drinks. More selections of tequila and mezcal than I've ever seen. Ask for something special in that regard and you won't be disappointed. The salsa flight for appetizer was excellent! They make their own salsas here and the salsa verde is the best I've had outside of Mexico or Southern California. They also got a sweet & spicy peanut salsa that I've never experienced. It was delicious! I tried the burr-ita (burrito/fajitas) for the entree and that was excellent, as well. Walking around Historic Farmville meeting a military buddy down here, and we decided to hit a few bars. I absolutely DESPISE tequila, so wasn't a fan of coming here, but was pleasantly surprised. They had a solid selection of local beers and ciders, as well as decent bourbon and other liquors. The bartender was 100% on point with orders and throwing together amazing cocktails. Big. Yikes. We have a wedding in FarmVille coming up and we're looking for a place for our wedding party of 15 to have dinner. We called a week and a half out to ensure they could accommodate us. We were told "well it's a Friday so we will have customers." Which we were just trying to be. The person was rude, dismissive, and treated us like we had never been members of a normal functioning society. Get it together. I walked in and was met by a very nice gentleman, the bar tender (assume he may have been the owner) he recommended the specials.. both sounded amazing.. I chose the burger special, (didn't substitute anything) and it was fabulous with the homemade fries.. quite a filling, yet not feeling heavy meal.. I had the Mo'garita which was a jalapeño margarita which had just the right amount of spice and great refreshing flavor. I think I just found the original home of off-center designer tacos in the middle of a small historic little town in Virginia cleverly named One19 after their Main St address! The food was exemplary and fresh!! The many different Salsas were very creatively done and absolutely delicious! The food presentation was clean and visually appetizing! Had our first visit to One19 on a recent day trip to FarmVille. We sat at the bar and had some good conversation with the man who turned out to be the owner - we both shared stories of our visits to Oaxaca, Mexico. We got a couple of margaritas - I went for the mezcal and celery bitters margarita and my wife got the blood orange. Both were tasty. We both opted for the Halibut special on the menu - but I wish we actually ordered different items to sample more! We came here because we were stopping in FarmVille and it was recommended by my boss. I'd never been to FarmVille before so I was and am grateful for the recommendation. Con: -They didn't have rice I love rice and maybe I feel it's supposed to be a staple with tacos or Tex mex -My boyfriend felt the chicken in his chicken and chorizo taco could've been seasoned more. We had a very pleasant experience at one19. Their slogan is "tastefully off center," and that came true. We had margaritas (large tequila selection) to start, which were well-made. A homemade salsa appetizer (peanut salsa and chipotle tomato, both incredible.) rounded out the first course, the home chips were perfectly fried and had a lime seasoning on them. We had burgers for the main course- I had the special (Kimchi burger) and my wife had a build-your-own with cheddar, LTO, and garlic aioli. The garlic aioli was so good, we asked for some on the side to dip fries in. The burger patty was what really shined- juicy, cooked evenly and perfectly (medium rare and medium), and great flavor. I was excited to try this restaurant as I got a recommendation from a friend. Upon arriving the service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. I ordered the salsa flight and blistered peppers to start. To call it "traditional" salsa when it's literally cut up tomato chunks is laughable. The "pineapple salsa" was just canned pineapple's essentially, no tomatoes. The blistered peppers were bland with no mexican flare seasoning, just salt and pepper. For dinner I got the chicken and chorizo tacos and paid $14 for two tacos, so I would at least expect them to be decent. They tasted like cardboard with no seasoning whatsoever, and the corn tortilla wasn't even cooked which made the problem worse. Maybe they had an off day, but I wouldn't recommend for paying almost $40 with nothing satisfying. read more
