The service was great, the food was terrible. How can this place be a seafood restaurant when there are only a couple entree dishes? We had a family of 8 dine there on Saturday night and one person enjoyed their meal. Meaning 7 of us didn't. I'm not sure how we didn't get sick from the broken mussels. We ordered baked mushrooms that came out cold and gelatinous, and the seafood salad was sub par. I feel like we wasted 400 dollars with drinks included. Thank god you can't screw up bottles of wine. Went during their soft opening and they advertised they are getting customers to review the meal items however no one asked us what we even thought of our food! (We were the only ones in there yesterday between lunch and dinner time). Fish tacos were really yummy. We also he the halibut main dish - the fish was really fresh and nicely cooked. However the sides with it of rice and a couple veggies (tasted like minute rice along with a few pieces of red peppers) left a lot to be desired. The amount of rice served with the dish was very little - either add some other sides like potatoes and maybe asparagus or up the amount you're currently serving. Service was okay - not horrible but also not too interested in how our first experience was going. I would go back to try more items as the fish was lovely- but I recommend they up their sides game for the price! read more

This is the new version of the Charthouse restaurant that used to be here. Great location if you're in Steveston, but it still needs a bit of work. The food is better than what the Charthouse offered and quite fresh. Nothing spectacular and the menu is a little small. I had a garden salad, halibut and some dessert that I can't remember. The halibut was quite good, but everything else was forgettable. Service needs to be more polished... the server didn't even bother to put the cutlery straight when coming by and just put it in the general vicinity. No bread service. This place also needs blinds! It was quite uncomfortable when dining as the sun was setting - totally agree with Cassandra B. on this. Hopefully some of the kinks will get fixed with time, but right now there are better options in the area. read more

Very modern looking. It is a sports bar so it can get noisy. Most of the menu is seafood focused but there is some non seafood offerings like a simple burger. The service was neutral, nothing to write home about. Prices were a bit on the high end given the location. I wouldn't come back but tagged along as part of a meet up. read more

Beautiful location and view. Negative on the food. Person who made the fish tacos has definitely never been to Mexico. Bland, boring and bagged tacos chips with salsa from a jar. Okay - just went there with my family for lunch. No one greeted us and there wasn't any staff at the bar either so we sat ourselves. There were only 6 other people in the place. We waited and waited and waited. Ten plus minutes go by someone finally comes out of the back! She went straight to another table and proceeded to ring up there bill. Fair enough. Another waitress came out with another tables food. She didn't acknowledge us. Then She started to clear other tables. We are still waiting. The other girl is still tallying up the other tables bill. So we walked out. No one said anything- very disappointed in Catch. So here we are at Dave's Fish and Chips and are eating a lovely fish and chips lunch! I was at Catch recently with an out of town visitor, we looked it up and had 4 stars so we went in. Maybe it was the time of day? about 2.30 on a Saturday afternoon but the service was terrible( not busy) and the food was very bland. I had a prawn and scallop linguini, the linguini was dry, the seafood had no flavour. I tasted like it had been thawed out and added to the pasta after. The sauce was supposed to be a wine and butter sauce, practically non existent. Very disappointing! read more

SERVERS WAKE UP!! We have been to Catch ( the bar side) many times since they opened. We love Happy Hour, and the food is always good. The bartenders seem to be very capable but, the support staff is slow and unorganized. Quite often, staff don't seem to be very observant when people arrive. You can sit there, and it takes to long for them to approach for your drink order. It's too bad, they just need to step it up in that department. I think maybe it should be more clear to the staff, who is looking after certain details. Sometimes it seems they are a bit oblivious. read more

One of the very few places in the area where they cater to the needs of both the people who love seafood, and the people accompanying them who can't stand it. The people in my party had the fish and chips and I had the house salad and beef dip. I'm told the fish and chips were very good and for my part, the salad was great and it was the best beef dip I've ever had. We had excellent service and our server was very friendly and very much on top of everything. The place has great views, and the prices are also very reasonable. My only gripe was that they had run out of wings on our visit, but that didn't really diminish the visit. We'd all definitely come back and eat here again. read more

We had a company dinner there. It took 1.5 hours to get an appetizer and 2 hours to get dinner. Food was not bad, a little bit saltier than normal. I had seafood fettucine. They do have upscale prices, but definitely not upscale food and attitude. As a diabetic, I had to ask 2times for a couple slices of baguette and was always rejected that food was coming. When I got my appetizer (green salad) it was so sour that I almost fainted before I received 2 slices of baguette from a manager. This was very serious. Waitresses were not friendly and did not care about my request, even when I stressed out that I was as a diabetic! This unfortunately affected my evening and I was not very pleasant companion. read more

Went there for the dine out menu. I got a scallops and bacon to start with. The bacon are so crispy but not over cooked. It is a perfect match with the small scallops. The main course lamb shrank was huge!!!! The skin was crispy and the meat was juicy. Felt like i was eating beef brisket! The dessert was a triple chocolate jar. Just look around once in a while. No one likes waving staff down. No sign of any real management. Food is reasonable but recent order of sliders was sub par. I think the problems of this establishment start at the top. Are the owners actual publicans and/or restauranteurs.? If you don't know how to train your people, pay someone that does. Great potential. Nice, clean looking location with a great view and potentially great food. The essence of the food is good but the cooking leaves a bit to be desired. We had the halibut (cooked about two minutes too long so it was becoming rubbery and tasteless) and daily chowder (needed a bit more flavour - salt and herbs (dill???); also the crab cakes (good but a bit on the high side with the filler but very tasty with the aioli) and pepper steak(great steak but medium rare turned out to be medium well) and a veal chop which WAS perfect (nicely cooked, flavourful and nicely dressed. So, a bit of undercooking as this kitchen could become one of the best in the area. The wine list is small but the prices are excellent and the staff are friendly and professional. Nice little addition to Steveston! Tuscan chicken flat bread was amazing as well as the artichoke dip. I had the chicken burger and it was fantastic. My boyfriend had the beef dip and he was a little disappointed on the amount of beef in the sandwich - it was a pretty thin layer. He said that overall the taste was pretty good. Pear salad was small and you had to search to find 2 small pieces of pear - for $14 ? No specials or draws, such as meal of the day, happy hour, or 2 for 1's. This may be planned later. Had a great experience. We sat outside overlooking the harbour on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon . It took a few extra minutes to get service but that was the only negative. Once the waitress greeted us, it was great thereafter. Ordered the seafood jambalaya and I'd say it was the best I've ever had. We had a great night at Catch... the one exception was our table was stuck out in the middle of nowhere... it was the weirdest thing the place was packed on a Sat. night and we had a table in the middle with about 10 feet around us in every direction.
