I've been meaning to write this review for a while. It's one of those things where you meet someone and you don't want to write something to possibly jinx it. To go along with the "don't jinx it" sort of thinking, I'm just going to write about the service as I think it's great. Note I haven't done their speed dating thing but I'm not a fan of speed dating in general. This review is about their matchmaking service. When they match you with someone, you get their profile in a email and they get yours. If you both say yes then they arrange the place to meet and the time. They pick a place that is the middle ground of where you both live and the places they pick are pretty good. You meet the other person then say if you want to meet again or not. One of the things that is great is, as a guy there is a lot to consider when picking the place for that first date. You don't want it to be too romantic/dark, you don't want it to be too loud, you want a place with a good vibe that has good food and drinks. Also you have to consider dietary restrictions, type of cuisine they like and then find a place that is near the middle between you two. Then you have to agree on a time/day. To sum it up, that's a lot to consider and in my experience it fell on me to arrange all of it. Catch handles all of that, so you just need to only think about one thing... meeting that other person. It's great! If you both say yes to a second date then it's up to you two to arrange it. If one of you says no to a second date then can provide feedback so they know how to adjust their picks in the future. From there you move on and they introduce you to new people. It can be hard to meet people in this city so it's great to have another way you can be introduced to people. The staff are nice people. Meeting quality guys can be difficult in a city like Los Angeles. Plus online is too risky, you have no way of knowing if the person is honest or decent. I really feel the staff at Catch Matchmaking care about the service they are providing and therefore select quality individuals they feel are ready for a real meaningful, long lasting relationship. The dates I have been set up on have been with honest, intelligent, established men. I recommend Catch Match for anyone who is serious about finding a partner. read more

I contracted with Catch back in April 2017 for six months of professional matchmaking. I'm a professional in my late 20s, who has had difficulty finding long term success in the online dating arena. I thought hiring a professional matchmaker would provide me with more successful dates than I was getting through my own efforts. I also hoped it would allow me to avoid some of the worst parts of dating like getting stood up, people canceling right before the date, etc. I met with Katie who is one of the owners. The meeting was very pleasant and Katie seemed confident that her company could successfully match me up with someone. She told me that customers who contracted for six months of matchmaking had a 70% success rate and that catch always encourages all the women that they match their clients with to go on a second date, even if they didn't feel immediate chemistry at first. The price for the service was very high at $3,800 (to be paid completely upfront) but I felt confident after my meeting with Katie that there was a decent chance of success. She had absolutely no hesitation in taking me on as a client and gave me no indication that Catch would struggle to successfully match me up with anyone. I went on an acceptable amount of first dates through Catch, and while I liked many of the women I was being matched with, there were no successful dates. Obviously, rejection is going to be common while dating and I wouldn't expect every single date to be successful, even when using a matchmaker, but the fact that such an expensive service couldn't produce one match successful enough to lead to a second date in more than six whole months is just not acceptable. During the same timeframe that I was a client of catch I continued to do online dating and actually had better luck getting second and third dates with many of those women versus the women I was set up with by this company. The process of getting feedback from unsuccessful dates was also poor with Catch. After the first two months of dating I was able to get some constructive feedback. However, after month three feedback really slowed to a crawl and Catch didn't seem to put much effort into finding out what the ladies felt went wrong on the dates. I was basically left in the dark as to why a lot of the dates didn't work which was frustrating. Customer service from this company is mixed. Though they will get back to you relatively quickly if you have any complaints or criticism, often times their emails written in response will have a passive aggressive tone to them. This didn't bother me much at first as I felt that Catch would come through eventually for me. However, as time went on I didn't feel like I was being treated as a valued client. I recently broke up from a year relationship and attended a "speed dating" through Catch Matchmaking. My friend warned me before hand "this might not be for you." I didn't fully realize what he meant until I arrived. And he was right, before the speed dating started, I walked around (all the participants were in a main dining room) and quickly realized, unfortunately there simply wasn't anyone I was interested in. I politely told the hosts May and Katie that I would be declining to spend the next 2 hours there. A day later I emailed May and Katie to voice my disappointment. I thought as business owners, they would make some effort to work with me or create a constructive dialogue. I too own a few businesses, and when someone is unhappy I try to amend the source of contention, or at least find common ground. They didn't respond to my email. I would have been content with even an explanation. Had they wrote back and said, "maybe your standards are too high!" at least that would have elicited a little laughter! :) But nothing. They didn't even respond. So, I wasted a Saturday morning and $40 on something that was not for me. And while I'm not opposed to speed dating, I would not ever attend a speed dating with this company. I've worked with May for the past 2 years and I used her Elite service for 1.5 years. May interviewed me and became my personal matchmaker a while ago. I had to say, even though I am still single, the guys she recommended to me are of much better quality compared to the guys I met from Match or eHarmony. Her service is not cheap, but it is saving me a lot of time. Out of dozen men she had recommended to first date, a few were quite close to my expectation. It is more of a matter of time that I meet the right person. I strongly recommend her Elite service. I've gone to the events several times, but there are too many guys you do not feel right about. I wish Catch could have more networks on the east LA side, where a lot of the Asian populations are. Anyways, I look forward to hearing from you again, May! Being a professional single woman in her 40s is challenging when it comes to dating in LA so I was really hopeful when I signed up for this site. As you know women can join for free. I had a Skype interview with one of the reps Mason. He was nice and professional. I know I'm a great catch and have a lot to offer a man but I have only had one match since I signed up. Waste of time. Might as well go back to online dating as I have more chances to meet men that way. I'm very surprised others had great experiences as I clearly did not. Pros: Free for girls, consultants are nice, the guys are screened Cons: I didn't feel like Catch was MY advocate too. I understand that the men are paying and they are clients, however I expect to still be treated with the same respect and confidentiality. There was an incident where I told/asked them something in confidence regarding mis-fact about a guy's martial status on the profile they sent me. Instead of investigating discretely and protecting my anonymity, they immediately called the guy, and told him I had said something. Waste of money and waste of time. I had very high expectation before I participate this event , but it seemed like I was the one that went home with disappointed and angry. As I had a lot of contact with the organizer from the website . I believed they where very professional and made sure everything was proper , but they where not. They said that the event would start at the time that was given and which was not correct. It started 30 minutes later , because they wanted people to check in for 30 minutes. I have been to speed dating before and they started on time , but this did not. Which I think is weird. When I arrived , I was confused if this really was " catch matchmaking" since it said a different name of another company , the organizers of that company said they collaborate and I said to one of them that I had no idea of this and that "Catch matchmaking" would have written this , so people who participate would know , the another organizer started to be cocky and rude towards me. That is not really what you expect from a organizer . I would also hope they had a pen instead if cheap pen , where you can barley see what you have written. Some of they guys did really look like they where homeless and losers. There is so much stuff I want to say , but I think that I`m only going to say this and mention that is pretty expensive 28 dollar and up , To answer Mai comments , I spend money being on the event , you might referring that I did not spend money on the tickets , but I did spend money for drinks and appetizer , since you can't sit there with nothing on. A company should not humiliate costumer like that. I know that they mean well but there have been times when I've heard that they can be too abrasive or pushy and that they don't really listen to the customer's needs. I personally have tried to give Catch Matchmaking a chance and I can at least say that I gave them a try. I just searched for speed dating at Yelp.com and have found Catch Matchmaking in December 2011 since I got disappointed after 6 Month on-line dating. Based on their reviews immediately I went to their website and I have found out that besides speed dating events they also have a Professional Dating Matchmaking Service as well. So I filled up the on-line applications form at http://www.catchmatchmaking.com/dating-matchmaking-service page. Then May contacted me next day and after an appointment I did a personal interview with her and immediately signed up for their service then next week I started to date with the first potential match based on the interview. All Catch Matchmaking's service are so professional. The service (Professional Dating Matchmaking Service) also included a free photo shoot to create a perfect profile picture about me. Catch Matchmaking also organized the venue for the date and surveyed me and my date as well about our experience after each date. Also they continuously "studied" me based on my feedbacks and adjusted the search to find the best match for me. They have selected and sent me several potential matches profiles (based on the service agreement I have signed) and after mutual interest based on the the potential matches profile I dated all together 4 girls till April 2012. Then Ashley suddenly hand selected the perfect much for me on one of the "Unlock the night" Catch Matchmaking event and She sent me the profile of the best much ever and organized the first date with her as well. She was the 6th person and 5th (I skipped one) date I took trough Catch Matchmaking. The first impression was excellent and the date was awesome with her. Then I started date with her and we had a 2nd, 3rd date etc. and now (in June 2012) we are together for over 2 Months so far, and we are so happy together. I also was curious about speed dating (I seen it many times on movies and always wanted to try it out speed dating) so therefore May just invited me one of the "Asian women & Western men" Speed Dating event. It was fun and professionally organized and there was so many pretty Oriental girls there. Even I have not find my much on that event it was a great experience and I never talked that match pretty Asian girls my entire life. :) Anyway I rate Catch Matchmaking with 5 Stars. After years of unsuccessful online dating, a friend told me about Catch Matchmaking. I filled in the online profile, and got an email to meet May for coffee. She asked insightful and direct questions (which this New Yorker appreciated) about what I was looking for, and told me she'd send me three profiles to check out. They were all good looking, professional guys, serious about finding a relationship. Within a few hours, I had two first dates on the calendar. Today I'm in an amazing relationship with the second man they set me up with. While we have much in common, we move in completely different circles in this massive city, and I would never have found him on my own. One of the things I mentioned was wanting someone to travel with, and we've got trips to Vegas, Costa Rica, and New York all on the books for the next few months! Ladies, this guy "checks boxes" I didn't even know I had when May asked me what I was looking for. And my friends said what I was looking for either didn't exist or had to be already married. Most of my experience with Catch has been with their personal matchmaking service. I met May back in February 2013 at a Meetup. May was very attentive and tuned into hearing about my expectations about dating to see if her services were right for me. May was very open and was happy to answer any questions I had. Once I decided to sign up for May's matchmaking services, she made sure my profile made an excellent first impression. She even hired a professional photographer so that my profile picture was up-to-date. Within one week, I had a pleasant surprise. I had my first match. I didn't realize how fast May and her professional staff work to find matches for you. As soon as I replied that I was interested in meeting my match, May's professional staff sprung into action. What I like most about this matchmaking service is that the professional staff do all the leg work in finding a suitable venue that has a great atmosphere for a casual first date. I actually had dates at really great venues that I never knew existed. Once they locate the venue, they actually make the reservation for you. All you have to do is show up and look your best. After each date, you provide them with feedback about your date. What they do with this feedback is truly amazing. They actually pay attention to what you like and dislike about your match and use this information to help you with your next match. Since I've signed up, I've been on 5 dates. Each date has gone progressively better each time. I feel like my next match is going to be the one I'm waiting for. I would definitely recommend using Catch Matchmaking, because I was burnt out from internet dating. I loved being able to meet with May and for her to sincerely listen to what I wanted in a guy (3 must haves, 3 deal breakers). She also collected a bevvy of information on myself, ranging from how close I was to my family and what physically I wanted in a man. This personalized attention is something that you can't get from another dating avenue. Also, when I was bummed a non-Catch Matchmaking guy let me down tremendously, May was very soothing. She is your greatest dating coach/cheerleader/proponent! I can think of 3 great guys off the top of my head that I met via Catch Matchmaking: Rich, who is uuber reliable and has become a very good friend of mine, Michael (who also treated me really well and not only accompanied me to a dance performance but treated me to a wonderful dinner), and a hottie named Eric (swooning, as he lived in Long Beach. I soon after moved away from the area, but who knows what would have happened? :) I really like Katie too, the other lady involved behind the scenes! :) She is a sweetheart. Now the only downfall was the cost of the matchmaking package. However, I am writing that from the perspective of someone who has worked in education, which doesn't offer the greatest of salaries. I traveled from San Diego to Katie and May's premier mixer in the OC. It was worth it! Even though I was upfront about being from San Diego, I still exchanged phone numbers with interested girls! May provided me the fee schedule I requested, as it seems that their "contact us" form on their website didn't send nor did they receive my message. The different membership levels appear to come with additional benefits; she was willing to explain those to me via telephone or interview, but I decided not to waste her time as their fees are out of my budget (but my initial suspicions were correct, albeit on the high side). I've spent too much money in the past for other dating sites, services, socials, etc., but they seem like the real McCoy. It's just out of my budget; if I were more well-heeled, it'd be different. I have never been more hurt and disappointed in my whole life. I would give them zero stars if I could. One of the matchmakers sent me some potential matches via email one day, and I had requested to meet one of the guys I thought would be a great fit. I won't reveal her name out of respect for her. A couple of days later, I got an email back from Catch saying that the guy has absolutely no interest in meeting me at all. I was extremely hurt, and honestly, the matchmakers of Catch made me feel awful. I know I'm not attractive, but they made me feel even worse and could have been more encouraging and positive toward me. Some people always look on the bright side no matter how negative the situation is, and that is what they should have done. read more

Went to this event in last minute with a open mind. Am in my mid-twenties and would say the average age between men and women (men being slight older) was 35.. There was a handful of women in there twenties tho. Location was a great spot and they did have a few great prizes at the end of the event. I did enjoy my time and actually got a handful of numbers. But I dont see myself going to this type of event anytime soon unless they close the age gap or if am still single ten years from now -) read more

WONDERFUL EVENT!! A friend and I attended a Catch mixer in July of 2012. We had a BLAST! It was so well organized and the coordinators were not only friendly but provided such a great relaxed environment for those of us that had attended such a function for the first time. The games set up for the event were not only fun, but allowed us to interact with the opposite sex in a very no-pressure, non-intimidating manner. Super great time!!! The $35 we paid each, were well worth it. I met my boyfriend of 2 years at this event. I'm just going to review some of their speed dating and social events, since I haven't really signed up for the matchmaking service. Their events are quite well organized and reasonably priced, also the venues are really nice and classy. And there always seem to be a good mix of people and well balanced in terms of male/female. I do notice that they seem to cater more to white men interested in dating asian women and vice versa, but that just seems more to do with the current market demand in LA than anything under their control...hey it's a business, right? Also want to say that May is a very nice and polite lady when I met her. Also I like the fact that she is straightforward and honest....no BS....ie she's not going to tell you that she can hook you up with hot girls 10 years younger etc...she'll tell you exactly what you can realistically expect. Oh and BTW to the guy who posted the review whining that only guys pay and girls don't...dude I don't know what universe you live in but this is LA and it's always been like this...unless you drive a Ferrari or you're a movie star...and if you are why the hell do you need to sign up for a matchmaker anyway? Catch has the best events that I have seen in the LA area, with higher quality people. Being a busy professional new to the area, and not a big party person, I found their variety of speed dating to be most interesting, where I have had good conversations, and starting to believe that maybe I can find someone compatible in this mess of freeways. May & Katie have set me up on a few dates now, and every time has been a great experience. Such nice service...they pick the place, make the introduction, help coordinate the time - it's all just very seamless. I also appreciate how they get feedback after every date and listen to what went well and what didn't which helps them set you up with better dates in the future. And even though these particular dates didn't turn into long term relationships for me, my friend that I referred just got married in December to a guy that Katie set her up with! I met my fiancée through Catch Matchmaking. Enough said. Okay, I'll say a little more. I liked how my matchmaker would give me feedback from women I'd been on dates with. It was a glimpse into how women were perceiving me, and it was eye-opening and helpful. The whole thing was a process. It took many months. They were learning more about me; I was learning more about the qualities that I was looking for. Finally, right near the end of my contract, I met a wonderful woman who thinks I'm wonderful too. I've volunteered twice at Catch's single mixer events hosted in Long Beach. I helped people check in and get their locks and key. I must confess that I was quite skeptical of these events. The skepticism is mainly due to my ignorance of how the dating world can be like since I have always met people through friends. I was so surprised at how much fun I had meeting new people and interacting with today's singles. Every event that I've volunteered has been a mix of fun and interesting people. So, the lesson here would be to go to these events with the intention of meeting new people and enjoying an evening out with fun and interesting people in a classy place. Even in my late 30's, I have quite a few single girlfriends. I have no idea why because all my girlfriends are beautiful (inside and out), educated, successful and genuinely kind people (they have to be patient and kind to put up with me, of course). You would think they would be married and settled by now but sometimes that is just not how the universe works. Since female clients are free, I refer all my single, female friends to Catch. One particular girlfriend said May matched her with 3 males that were amazing and she was extremely pleased with all her dates. Based on my conversations with my single girlfriends, they indicate that Catch interviews all their clients, get pictures of them, and help match each person to a few suitable and compatible Catches. A couple of my friends did inform me that Catch did not always have a match for them - which is unfortunately, of course but I respect the fact that they did not waste my friend's time. I am extremely impressed by May's ability to run her growing business. I see now that her growing company is 100% due to her genuine desire to help others find "the one." She has all her clients' best interest at heart and so they naturally trust her. All gals have nothing to lose since it doesn't cost you a dime to meet with Catch. If anything, you will certainly meet a new friend and more than likely, quite a few more. ;) read more

I know these things take time and you can't hurry love. I want to thank you for being so good at your interview process. I was initially impressed with your professional attitude, presentation and courtesy but even more blown away when compared to Cupid's Coach. I had an interview with Courtney Hughes at Cupid's Coach in Brentwood a few months ago where I was told that I should reconsider signing up ($25,000 for membership) since I did look 41, my age by the way. She harassed me on past dating choices and jumped to conclusions and went so far as to say "why don't you have a ring your finger?" I should have asked her the same question since she didn't have a ring on her finger, admittedly was older and claimed to have access to "elite" single men. I met with Katie after doing some research. I first filled out there online form and within 2 days they message me back to set up a in person meeting. Overall my experience with Katie was great, she was very professional and easy to talk to. They will want to get to know about you and what your looking for, then will give you the full, no misleading answers about the company and the best available option for you. They have to be selective because they are professional and don't just take anyone as clients. If you are looking for a good matchmaking company and they fit your preference, I would recommend checking them out and meet them in person to get a idea if they are right for you. read more

My experience with Catch Matchmaking has been mainly through their singles mixer events. I've gone to a couple of their Lock & Key events as well as a speed dating event. All of the events I've gone to are fun and exciting! And each time I've gone to one I've met at least 1 or 2 women that I wanted to go on a date with. One thing I think they really do well is keeping the dating game from becoming a painful struggle that you'd look at with dread. Their events are fun and filled with such a nice range of people to meet. May, Katie, and Sarah are all so nice yet professional. It's great to see them work so hard for their clients and actually be invested at finding happiness for them. If you're tired of going aimlessly to bars/clubs/etc. to find somebody, I recommend giving Catch Matchmaking a chance instead. read more

Catch is the second matchmaking service I've used in the past few years. I was very unhappy with the other one. Since I'm tall, I'd like to meet someone tall. And because I live on the Westside I'd like to meet someone who lives on the Westside, traffic being what it is. The other service, and I use that term loosely, found both of these two request way too exotic to accommodate. May, at Catch, does not. Further, when I had questions about whether their standard contract might not be the best for me, May was willing to tweak it into an alternative we can both work with. I've been to a lot of different speed dating events from various companies. Catch events are fun and a different style of speed-dating events. I especially enjoy their Asian women with Western men speed dating events. The organizers are very nice and professional. I have met and dated some women from their events, and I always find many quality people attend. It is a numbers game so if one event doesn't have good matches, I try again. Overall they are cool events and also good practice for our social skills and overcoming shyness. If you haven't tried one yet, check them out! What can I say, I love this company. They offer a great matchmaking service tailor fit to your needs based off of an initial questionnaire used to find the best match for you. Other than that they are ever present at the Unlock The Night events hosted by VIP Social Events, a company they throw themed singles parties with. The games are a lot of fun and everyone is very helpful. People are friendly and it's a great addition to the things they do on a regular basis. I've been to Catch Matchmaking's mixers before and they have always been fun. Recently, I decided to try out a speed dating event and was very impressed. The coordinators of the event were very well organized and made me feel welcome. There was time to check in, grab a drink or a bite, and freely mingle with the people before the dating was to begin. The venue was perfect as well. I met a lot of really nice and interesting people. It was great how many people attended! The great luck meeting someone dating for a long time like some other people writing reviews has not happened to me yet, but I liked this idea about matchmaker more active and someone put effort for it unlikely other online dating site. I met a couple of guys by choice of this professional company and it was very detail about the profile, meeting places, etc..and even following up after the meeting tells how much they care about all individual meetings from before the meeting to after. Also, it was first experience to do speed dating here, and it was a new but good way to meet multiple people in one place and talk to them one by one. Honestly before I decided to write my review, I read some other reviews and saw they complained about lots of things (example - the speeding meeting was delayed 30 minutes, etc).. and I understand that, but I also noticed the schedules were changed unexpectedly by some participants as well. So I understand it is not the organizers' faults all the time. I went to a big mixer not that long ago that was hosted in part my Catch Matchmaking on the advice of a friend. The mixer itself was ok. I thought they played too many stupid games, but whatever - some people like that. I ended up talking to the owners and find out that basically they have no experience. They don't have any relevant education and basically took an online course and now consider themselves match makers. They didn't intern with a respected match maker or anything. Why would I trust them to pick a date for me and fork over my hard earned cash when one of the ladies isn't even married herself? There are much more reputable agencies in Los Angeles. If I'm going to pay someone for a date I'm going to go with an experienced professional. I joined yelp just so I could write this review. People should know what they are getting into. read more
