I had been going to catch id say since 2019, back then the place was wack, food wasn't all that good, they used to sit you one on top of the other and overall it was a very trashy and bad experience. If I had to give the old catch a rating it would be 2/5 stars. However, the new catch, the one that went through a total top down renovation, this place is an easy 5/5. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful, it gives off like a rich yacht vibe, wood accents, green coloring and just a wonderful scenery. They made more space for customers, you don't sit one on top of the other, there's plenty of space and the chairs / booths are super comfortable. This restaurant is a stunner. The vibe is dark and moody. It's a little hidden down a dark hallway to the elevator that pops you out on the second story restaurant. Obviously a very trendy spot. Alright, I recently went back to Catch to try their ribeye steak and was impressed. I am super picky when it comes to steaks (I usually only get 30-40 days dry aged). The ribeye wasn't even dry aged but had great flavor and was cooked to perfection. I normally don't think of catch for steak (usually get the seafood options) but that has changed!! Catch is having a moment with it's reopening but the customer service is at an all time low. Having been a patron of this restaurant numerous times over the last decade, I made a reservation weeks ago and my group planned an entire evening around it. The night before the reservation I was left a voicemail that they were no longer able to accommodate my reservation because they had chosen to prioritize an alternative last minute group. Upon calling back, they told me the earliest they could re-book me was May 22 - over a month away. This establishment's inability to manage their reservations will prove to be quite the issue for them in a competitive market like NYC where reservations are something restaurants need to get right. read more

After taking the elevator to the 4th floor, we entered into a space that had a decadent outdoor seating area and the entire restaurant was fully committed by the time we left. Had such a great dining experience recently at Catch NYC. To start, reservations were accidentally made for Catch Steak. Still unclear about how this happened because the direct link from the Catch NYC website to Resy was used... nevertheless the mixup was not realized until the hostess informed me upon check-in. She was extremely accommodating and understanding of the mixup, almost immediately offering to switch over the reservation and seat us at the correct location (Catch NYC) on a busy Friday night nonetheless. We waited all but five minutes before being seated. The ambiance is sexy to say the least, dark, brick walls, dark wood shiplap, with some masculine touches seen in the light fixtures and throughout. Opted to try the restaurant week menu options, $60 Per person for a starter, entree and dessert (to split). We each did the crispy chicken boa buns, to start, delicious! Crispy, spicy, and the aioli sauce provided on the side was the perfect addition. For entrees we did the seared Scottish salmon which was absolutely delicious, fresh, cooked to perfection/preference, the plating was so cute (see pic for reference); and the truffle butter filet ($20 up-charge), it was described as being "one of the best cuts of steak" by my friend. We added a side order of whipped mashed potatoes and close with the pineapple upside down cake for dessert which was amazing. The cake itself was warm and the scoop of ice cream served with it was the perfect compliment. For drinks we did the watermelon sugar, which had a hint of spiciness to it so be aware and a classic margarita.
