I have used Royal Gourmet for over eight years now for my workshops and seminars. I was very surprised by some of these reviews because I have always found RG to be extremely easy to deal with, very flexible concerning my menu selections, always on time and most importantly always delivering excellent food that gets rave reviews from my clients. We usually do a lunch...if I don't serve their pulled pork I have upset client...or breakfast and always have some type of break included. As a result of RC catering my events, I know that many of my clients have used RC too and again always to rave reviews. I used Catering by Royal Gourmet for my post-elopement wedding reception. My husband and I are overseas and planning from across the Atlantic was a difficult task alone, but CRG did not make that task easier. They were painfully slow to answer emails- often times taking weeks for simple replies (and always with an excuse). The food was tasty, but nothing to write home about. On the day of my actual wedding reception, the gentleman sent to our location was late, and when he did arrive, the first words out of his mouth to me were: "This is my first time doing this by myself, I'm not sure what to do." This is unprofessional and absolutely NOT what I wanted to hear with a party in full swing. We had made it very simple, set aside the first two tables in a long row of rectangular tables for him to set up the food and when I was explaining to him where the food was to go, he had his back to me, not listening or paying attention, and instead was focused on other tables that were occupied already. It took me saying "these tables" 4 separate times before he finally turned around and looked at the empty tables to which I was touching and referring. He showed us the drawn diagram on some paperwork he had and was very confused- the diagram was simple to follow- it was a long rectangle with labels for the different food items. I had to explain to him that his drawing corresponded to the two tables we had set aside for the food. This entire process should have been 2 minutes max, but ended up taking almost twenty. Twenty minutes that I could have been spending with my guests. At 6:30 (we had dinner service from 5-7) I was pulled away from another conversation because our caterer wanted to pack up early. When I spoke with him, he informed me that there were only a few trays of food left so he wanted to pack up. I told him no- we have service scheduled for another half hour and if there is food left, please put it out. This is not something I should have had to explain. In the end, we had an entire tray of pulled pork leftover as well as some other food. Clearly there was plenty left and no need to pack up early or bother me to try and pack up early. Additionally, I never received any follow up email after the fact asking if I was satisfied with the service. I had to send an email detailing my frustrations and weeks later have yet to hear back. I doubt I ever will. I would never recommend this service. read more

We used RGF to cater a 50th birthday party for my wife and I. I researched several other firms and found that RGF fit my needs the best. We were really pleased with the pig and the sides. The staff were very friendly and I think they enjoyed the party as much as we did. We had 125 guests and everyone liked the food. I know at least one person used RGF for a pig roast of their own! read more

We used Royal Gourmet to cater our outdoor tent wedding in September. The planning process was very easy and they offered a tasting which we liked. The service at the event was pretty surly (no smiling, generally annoyed attitude) and the food was ok. All in all I felt nothing to really warrant a good or bad review. Then over the holidays I met up with some friends that I had not seen since the wedding and heard about the table throwing incident. Towards the end of the reception, a strand of our tent perimeter lights went out. I guess this caused the caterers to not have enough light over at the catering station outside of the tent so they had to use their headlights to give them additional light. I guess this really pissed them off because my friends said they were packing up and slamming boxes with plates into the truck. Then one of the boxes fell of the truck and I'm assuming some stuff was broken. So one the caterers got even more irate that she dropped the box and went over to a table and flipped in over (real housewives style). I asked another couple that had sat at that same table to see if they noticed this episode too and they did but didn't want to tell us because only their table saw and they know I would be so embarrassed. The owners are nice but the people they send out to cater are terrible. It' sad that when you ask people if they had a good time at your wedding and the most memorable part was how awful the caterers were. read more

We used Royal Gourmet to cater our outdoor pavilion Wedding for our daughter this July. Our experience from beginning to end was wonderful! With all the hectic wedding planning, it was so nice to have a Caterer that took the stress off. They answered phone calls, sent the contract, and helped with suggestions. We had the fried chicken and brisket and all the trimmings. Everyone remarked about how good the food was. The ladies came early to set everything up (such a plus in my opinion), and when it was all over the ladies packed the tasty leftover food for us to take home! We highly recommend! read more

We were recommended to Royal Gourmet by our venue. Karen at RGF was awesome. She was very attentive. We were so excited to have this vendor cater our big day. Excitement...we should have been scared out of our minds. We paid over $6,000.00 for gourmet food and got garbage. First, at approx 2 pm one of our vendors showed to set up at the venue. Minutes after Royal Gourmet came. Our other vendor witnessed someone taking our pig out of the van and sitting it on the ground next to the van at approx 2:15. That pig sat on the ground in 70 degree weather for 4 1/2 hours!!! Our introduction began at 6:30 and people from our bridal party, saw the pig STILL on the ground next to the catering van. When it came time to serve dinner, some of our guests requested skin from the pig and were told they couldn't have it because the pig was baked and it would be like eating raw hide. We paid for a ROASTED pig and got a baked pig that sat on the ground for 4 1/2 hours! We also had beef brisket and paid an extra $150.00 for a carver. Royal Gourmet gave us someone who never carved meat. The brisket was as tough as raw hide! The owner was on site and knew this guy didn't know what he was doing and let him slice the meat in little small pieces. It was so tough. Our veggies were said to be fresh. They were frozen and soggy. The salad was brown and limp. We were told all the left over food would be packed up and sent home with us. We received a packed tray of salad, a packed tray of soggy veggies, a tray full of gravy, a tray of mashed potatoes, 1/4 tray of pork and 1/4 tray of inedible beef brisket. A few of our very close friends witnessed them packing food up and putting it in their vans. We were also told there would be water pitchers on every table. They forgot the pitchers. When it came time to cut our cake, we had no plate and had to ask the bartender to get us a plate. Royal Gourmet might be good for a backyard, beer drinking BBQ but certainly NOT for a wedding! 5 thumbs down for Royal Gourmet. The owner replied to one of our reviews. Not once did he mention the soggy veggies, the inexperienced carver or the pig sitting on the ground outside for 4 1/2 hours. This company has only 1 review in 2014 and the next review was back in 2013. Buyer beware. Food might have been good back then. They are a complete rip off and can't compensate for their wrong doings read more
