Best catfish I've been able to find in town that comes close to what I'm use to eating! So I regularly come here when I need my fix. The menu is made to order I had mine to go so by the time I got home my food was still hot! Also the staff is friendly since I didn't eat in I was able to observe with the customers that did. Wow. Finally found some "southern" food in EL Paso! Went by cuz we were in the northeast on business and hungry... and I've been CRAVING catfish since moving here ... GOOD catfish. Found it here... I had the fillets and subbed okra for fries and added hush puppies-OMG. Best decision. Made with yellow corn and onions ... fresh fried to order, so good. And REAL TEXAS SWEET TEA! And I mean SWEEEET. Not for the faint of heart or those "watching their sugar". Meal also came with Texas toast and tartar sauce ... dining partner got the 20piece butterfly shrimp with fries. She said it was delicious ... but couldn't Finish it all and took some home. Portions are really nice size for the price... Next time I'll try the gizzards... wish they had livers too ... catfish was amazing ... fresh fried to order, had to wait a few minutes just to pick it UP it was so piping hot! Perfectly crispy and not greasy at all. Delicate fish in traditional cornmeal breading. No fat or skin just wonderful flaky catfish. Owner stopped by everyone's tables a couple of times to make sure all was well and even refilled my tea. Super friendly staff but the guy in the kitchen knows his stuff! It's a little warm inside. It's rad. If you land at El Paso airport, take the 10 minute drive north and check this place out. Big portions of fried food, so if you are on a diet just split one meal with two people: portion control! We had the fish nuggets, beef gyro, fries and sweet potato fries. I recommend all of them. Excellent place for fried catfish! We always get the catfish nuggets - they are absolutely delicious. Breaded lightly and cooked just right so they are crispy and not soggy. The staff is always courteous and attentive. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 are for their fries. Their fries are excellent - crispy and hot, but sometimes are too salty. Their hush puppies are excellent. Highly recommend going here if you are looking for good fried fish. read more

3.5 and here's why. Now I know what you're thinking, "seafood in a landlocked desert, wtf." It takes forever for your order to come out, but judging by the burning sensation as the food hits my tongue, it's only because it's being fried fresh. It's not the best seafood I've had but it's still pretty good, considering location, I mean, that's a serious plus. Went well with sweet tea. The nuggets were very good. I kept reading reviews about the nuggets so they seemed like one of those "YOU GOTTA HAVE THIS!" kinds of things. Buuuuut it isn't without it's faults. Now, this place succeeds where neglectful diners fail. Neglectful diners just sort of expect you to seat yourself, wait around for someone to take your order, then you get up and do everything yourself anyway. With this place you walk up to the counter, order your food, and sit down wherever. Depending how far you are from the counter, you may be expected to get up to get your food, but more often than not they'll bring it to you. And if it didn't come out right, or if they sort of accidentally sweeten the tea for you, they'll do it over. Very service-oriented that way, oddly enough for a place without a wait staff, but then it's small enough to work without one. I suppose it was because I went in on a Wednesday for lunch, a very dreary time of the week though not as bad as Sunday night or Monday morning, but the staff could stand to be a little more cheerful, but then the service was good, so who cares. Oh yes, the faults. I felt like I needed a little shower after coming in here. Not unlike any aging compartment of a strip mall, it still had a greasy diner feel to it. Maybe they were going for "grizzled old fisherman who used to be a pirate and has lots of cool stories about how barnacles got on his peg-leg while his hook for a hand gave him a reason to wear an eyepatch" feel, salty and grimy. But I guess that's still a good atmosphere to go for, salty and grimy and seaworthy. I don't really want to walk out feeling like I just went crab-fishing though. One other fault was with the food. Now, yes, it came out super-fresh and piping-hot, and it was delicious. But it was on the oversalted side, like they washed it with seawater. And, I can forgive this, but the fish wasn't terribly fresh. Don't get me wrong, it was good and about as good as any other fish place could possibly be in the middle of the desert, but it had the slightest hint of that excess fishiness my New England palette hates. Overall it's a good place. The food is probably the best seafood you can get in this part of the country and, while oversalted, was still pretty good. The service won't be all in your face and annoying you but they certainly go the extra mile to make sure you're happy. read more

The Catfish Basket reminded me of sitting at my grandma's house eating good food and watching tv :) The waitress was awesome! My husband wasn't sure what to order so she suggested the catfish nuggets and they come with fries and texas toast( we got hush puppies instead of toast). When we walked back to our table, I told him that people were saying the sweet tea was really good and he forgot to order some. Well, suddenly the waitress appears at our table with a large cup of sweet tea! And she brought our food to the table as well and I was wondering if we got the right order because there was so much food! A giant basket of nuggets, a giant basket of fried okra! My husband loved the catfish! We were used to catching ours and they always tasted muddy, he said these catfish nuggets were very tasty! The hush puppies were gone in an instant! Even though we were both hungry, we took home more that half of what was brought out, there was just so much! All that food for less than $20! The place is small, it's a place you would miss if you didn't know it was there. But it's immaculate and it has the funniest murals on the walls! I definitely recommend you try this place out!
