Fast delivery but food quality is questionable. Some days it would slap but most days all I taste is a crap load of MSG & soy sauce! Lobster sauce, general chicken, and "Dan Dan noodles"??? Come on, even the specialty "Dan Dan" noodles taste like a crap load of soy sauce mannnn... the fact that I was trying to order something different so I won't have to taste that exact saltiness is disappointing. But like I said, fast delivery for sure and online order is convenience so every now and then when I'm drunk after 12 and don't want to wait for food this place got me. This place went DOWNHILL since the fire happened. They charge so much for food that taste literally like plastic . Before my beef teriyaki and my spareribs would come perfect .. now it's almost like whoever is cheffing it up in the kitchen just doesn't care . Food be tasting old sometimes like if it's been re-used . I get sometimes older rice will be re-used but my lord at 4pm in the afternoon though? The American girl who picks up the phone and takes order is a B*%#! , I called to let her know my order was wrong and if I could please speak to a manager and she told me she was the manager (when she wasn't ) . And then after I hung up on her for her being extremely rude she kept calling my phone I want to say over 10 times and even left a rude voice message . I ordered through GRUB HUB so I got a refund but then i noticed days later Cathay wok charged me again for my food thinking I wasn't going to notice . Not sure what her issue was but if she don't like working there , maybe she should work somewhere else . read more

I've stopped in at Cathay Wok for lunch takeout twice over the past month and each time I've been very happy with the food. The place is order at the counter with an open kitchen area and dine-in seating along the front window which has a fantastic view of the Bridge Street traffic tieups to the VFW Hwy. Cathay Wok serves up typical Chinese, Polynesian, and Szechuan fare including 24 Luncheon Specials served with pork fried rice and appetizer (8 choices) served all day, ($4.95-$9.95, add 50 cents after 3PM) and 10 Combination Plates ($9.75 each). I ordered the Lunch Special #4: Pork Lo Mein with Egg Roll ($6.75) and the Lunch Special #5: Shrimp Chow Mein with Chicken Fingers($7.50) over two separate visits. Cathay Wok is the best Chinese food takeout in the Lowell area. I said the best, not one of the best because there aren't many Chinese takeout places that still dole out delicious food that is made with quality and care. The hot n sour soup has all the right mushrooms, generous amount of eggs and perfect amount of sour. I judge Chinese takeouts by the quality and taste of their soups, boneless ribs, chicken fingers, and egg foo young. They hit it out of the park with all four. The food is decent, but i've found countless amount of hair in my food. My family and I went there and found multiple pieces of hair in everyone's food, the chefs don't wear a hair net and you can see into the kitchen for yourself and see that. I come here all the time and the quality of the food is excellent. The place is very clean. The kitchen is open to the counter and you can see the staff cooking so you know your food is sanitary. The owner is extremely pleasant with the clients. I see a couple reviews with negative comments about take out mistakes on delivery orders but I know that happens with other restaurants. If I could give a zero I would. Rude staff, disgusting food. Had an issue with salt and pepper wings that were so salty they were inedible. When I mentioned to them it was way too salty it was burning my mouth, they refused to take it back and said I can't send something (as I was sitting right there eating it). Never have been so insulted as a customer in my life! Made such a big stink about it to me and got all other employees involved telling me i can't return something if I don't like it. Refused to listen to me when I said it was INEDIBLE. Both me and my sister could not eat even one bite. Horrible. Really disappointed in this place, they messed up my order bad and they forgot stuff too, when I called and told them they gave me the things wrong and forgot stuff they were very rude. I ordered take out from them in an effort to find a good chinese food place since I'm new to the area. I got chicken fried rice, scallion pancakes, and boneless spare ribs. The ribs had no flavor and were a pretty big disapointment. I'm glad I ordered a small because I only ate a few and just tossed the rest. The fried rice was mediocre. It had a bit of a burned taste in some parts and generally wasn't the kind of fried rice I'm used to getting when I order it. The scallion pancakes were okay. A little greasy and rubbery, but they at least had some flavor. It wasn't terrible food, but it wasn't all that great either. I ordered from here through grub hub because they were the only thing open and the reviews seemed decent. The order took 2 hours to get to me and once it arrived everything was soggy from condensation. The beef teriyaki had to have been the worst I've ever had and the chicken fingers were like biting into rubber despite the fact that they told me the wait took so long because everything was "made fresh". I ordered 4 plates with an egg roll and a small side of fries. The fries were undercooked and soggy as well. Worst $68 I've ever spent on takeout. Don't waste your money or your time. My boyfriend and I just moved to Lowell and wanted to find a good place to order from. Let me tell you, this is NOT the place. I ordered at 532pm, and they didn't get here until right before 7:00pm. I called three times, starting at when they were an hour late, and was told they are right down the street. I was so hungry and excited to eat until we both opened up the containers. The peppered steak was a disgusting soup, the sweet and sour chicken was gross friend chicken SOAKED in sauce. I spit it out on the first bite. Sad to say, we just threw both out meals in the trash and now we have to go out for dinner and I just wasted $30! Highly do NOT recommend this place!! read more

the food was the worst quality Asian American food I have ever had in my life. Forgetting the off putting flavors it was not even anywhere close to the quality of the other Chinese restaurants on foodler. Miya is better than Mandarin Asian bistro. The shrimp dish had very small shrimp not medium size or small but the micro size shrimp used for salads and soups. The hot and sour soup does not even look edible. Sesame chicken was horrible as well . Honestly this restaurant should be removed as foodler already has several Asian restaurants of a much higher caliber. read more

The General Gou's chicken here is so yummy! I just ordered it at 10:30 on a Sunday night, the driver was very polite and got from Centerville to south lowell in about 20 mins from when I completed my order. The chicken is made w all white meat and generously portioned , none of that chewy dark cheap stuff other restaurants use. The glaze is perfect with a spicy kick to it, not too overwhelming. Also got a side of beef teriyaki which was also prepared w good quality meat. It was a bit pricey ($20 inc. Delivery fee) but I strongly suggest it if you are a fan of general gou. I tried this place for the first time based on the reviews and I was greatly disappointed. I have to agree with the review that said the food was flavorless. The pork fried rice was bland as was the beef and peppers. The Szechuan Chicken was advertised as spicy but also lacked any flavor or heat. The teriyaki chicken was inedible, dried chicken on a stick with very little teriyaki flavor. Adding soy sauce to the food did little to make it flavorful, it just made it salty. There is no way I will order from this place again. read more

Just went down to Cathay Wok to get two large orders of pan fried noodles and a large order of pork fried rice. Imagine my surprise when my total came up to $30! Their explanation, though a small pan fried noodle is $2.95 but they charged me $10 for a large. This price (the large pan fried noodle) is not on their menu so I feel they should of told me the price. Needlessly to say we returned the food for a refund and wont be going back again. read more

My mom used to always order chinese food from this place for the family. Great chinese food. A bit on the pricier side compared to the other chinese restaurants around the neighborhood, but it's worth it! The house fried rice is hands down, the best! We usually order it with no color, basically it doesn't have the brown color, its white but taste just the same! Everything here is like a 4 star chinese food and everything else in the neighborhood is like 3 stars. They have a self serve dine in area, but no one really ever sits and eat here. I ordered delivery... the Diet Coke some how was flat and the rest of it including the menu seems like a knock off of Golden House. Everything down to the numbered specials. Maybe it's the same owners or they changed locations. The crab ragoons weren't that great. Mostly cream cheese and no taste of crab. The chicken wasn't that bad. This is one of the worst place I have ever eaten out of. In my order there was a large order of crab rangoons, beef teriyaki, general gau's chicken and white rice. Now where to begin. The crab rangoons tasted stale and that been under a heat lamp all day. The stuffing tasted like cream cheese,which had no flavor to them. I only ate 2 of them when I knew they were no good. The beef teriyaki was really dry I thought and only looked like it had been slightly dipped in some sauce before being put under a hot lamp with the crab rangoons next to it. Now the general gau's chicken, I don't know what kind of chicken they were using or what part of the chicken they got it from but it tasted mostly like half fried fat with very little meat in it. I just about lost what I ate from lunch when I bit into this. Through all of this I thought the next bit or a different piece would be better. It wasn't. Now for the price. It wasn't much more then I pay at other places, it was about $4 more. I thought that because it was a little bit more that it would taste the same or a little bit better. Again I was wrong.
