NS1. Special Beef Pho Supreme
Erin C.

Dropped in here for some pho and was not disappointed. They had a nice selection of soup and other Thai cuisine and looking around at the tables next to me, it all looked good! I ordered the medium beef pho and the portion was huge, I was very hungry going into it and could barely finish it. The broth was very savory and was light and savory without being sweet or salty. It had a generous portion of meat in it as well as plenty of noodles. The waiter was so sweet and answered our many questions and made recommendations for us, great customer service. We also ordered some fries as a side that were good they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also ordered the lime-ade wnd it was delicious very refreshing and not too sweet or sour and went perfectly with the savory soup.

I was in the city of Lowell and my friend recommended this spot. AMBIANCE: Parking: A small plaza parking but there's also street parking too Seating: Inside seating, good for groups. There's about room for 50 people. Feels: Lot of history in this history. The "first" industrial city of US. You can see its historical elements from the architecture, the businesses, and working fields. It has a nice charm of a small town grit and grind culture. The spot itself is in the downtown area of Lowell with a lot of buildings and eateries. As for the restaurant, a pretty welcoming place with good Asian art, plant decor, and pop music. Good place for groups or a casual food adventure. FOOD: Sizzling Spicy Dry (Recommend) I chose fried fish as my protein, and it was well-cooked and battered, providing a good crunch. The ingredients of garlic, jalapenos, peppers, onions, scallions, cilantro and their homemade chili sauce gave it a good kick. Coconut Spring Rolls (Recommend) I picked the choice of shrimp as my protein and I'm glad about this choice. The shrimp was well cooked, good crunch, and a pleasant taste of coconut, add your usual spring rolls elements from fulfilling vermicelli, refreshing basil, and a nice slice of creamy avocado, you're in for a treat. Coconut Coffee (Recommend) Good, creamy, and sweet. This certainly gave me that boost of energy needed. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Dope! Friendly people and quick with the service. TL; DR OVERALL: 5 Stars. Great selections, delicious food, reasonable prices, and good vibes. I dig this spot. It certainly gives the West Coast a run for its money. I'm definitely inclined to come back here again, I dig the flavors and along their service to the community. Best wishes to the Nguyen family for bringing all the good flavors to Lowell! TIPS: * Check out their website for daily specials/discounts! * Elderly friendly - able to make healthy meals for elders!

parking lot is very small. there's plenty of street parking. it's a really bad area, lock you car door, don't leave valuables visibly out. there's a sign on the restaurant door stating lock your car. we watched a fist fight take place across the street. stopped in for dinner on friday. we ordered the chicken spring roll. the roll was hot from the fried chicken and the rest is cold. i like the temp difference. the sauce it came with was on the sweet side. we also ordered the vietnamese sausage rice plate. the sausage was nice. the other entree was the sizzling spicy dry squid. the squid was very nice and crispy. the sauce that coated was way too sweet. i literally got a sugar rush. there's more sugar in that dish than two scoops of ice cream. overall it was good.

Pho Supreme

Forgot to review the last time I was here, but remembered to get a snap of my food this time around! Got the Pho Supreme which was decent but is huge! (XL bowl size runs you about $15). They have a good selection of dishes ranging for Chinese, Thai, Khmer, and even Italian pasta dishes! It wasn't a particularly busy night so the service was good and it was nice and quiet. Will be back here the next time I'm in Lowell!

Wonton noodle soup, NS1. Special Beef Pho,
Diane L.

Was in Lowell running an errand and decided to find a Vietnamese restaurant as there aren't too many around Winchester MA. We ordered the teriyaki beef fresh rolll (chili dipping sauce) and the pork fresh roll (classic peanut sauce). Both were stuffed full and made well. Fresh and tasty. The dipping sauces were also good. For our main course I had the Phò with rare beef and tripe and it was delicious. A great broth that was savory but light and not sweet. Well balanced! My husband had the pork wonton noodle soup. Plenty of wontons (simple pork) and pork slices. Broth was sweeter than we would have preferred. But overall the food was fresh and great tasting and portions for the soup were generous. $58 for 2 appetizers, 2 soups, and 2 beers. Service was fine and accomodating I'll surely go again!

Pad Thai

Stopped in for a Valentine's Day dinner. Started with the Sweet Cilantro wings and the Sizzling Kitchen fresh rolls. Both were excellent! The wings were crispy and hot with a slightly sweet and tangy sauce. The fresh rolls did not disappoint. Filled to the max with kimchi, veggies and more. My wife had the bibimbap with tofu and fried egg on top (see pic). Sizzling and steaming in its cauldron with extra veggies and brown rice (she stole my idea!) I had the Pad Thai with chicken (see pic) which was very good, fresh and light.

Since Sizzling Kitchen has moved down the street, they feel more like a restaurant with a bigger dining room space. We can meet up with more friends here. They have a little private lot on the side of the building. Street parking is still a bit of a situation but not impossible if the parking lot is full. And the fusion menu features items from Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, and Italy. However, they did lose a little bit of their flare recently. Spring Rolls Combination- Pork, shrimp, lettuce, pickled relish, mint, and vermicelli, wrapped in rice paper. They were big rolls but they were not fresh at all. And the sauce does not compliment the rolls well. Chicken Parmesan Dinner Pasta- Pasta with marinara sauce, chicken parmesan with cheese. Served with a side of buttered toast. This had barely any flavor. The chicken was completely dry. Stick with the Sizzling Platter dishes. They never disappoint! Overall Service: They have Ubereats but I recommend dining here. The food is way better freshly made. Plus, they're welcoming and friendly.

Ask the Community - Sizzling Kitchen

Are they able to accommodate someone with allergies? Specifically nuts and sesame seeds/sesame oil?

I have a nut allergy and have no issues finding things to eat here. Their online menu specifies if an item contains a common allergen. I usually just mention my allergies and they will accommodate them.

How's the pricing?

Very good value

Approachable menu with as much fusion as authentic Korean. -- Chicken Wings: Jumbo wings with extra crispness and an inner texture varying between sufficiently moist and gushingly juicy, depending on the piece. Superb, and with no price hikes in at least five years, now an excellent value too. -- Kimchi Pancake: Crispy on the edges and fluffier inside, with kimchi adding some crunch and nice flavor to go with the starch. Thin dark sauce to complement it. I think of it as a Korean cross between scallion pancake and egg foo yong. Good for sharing. -- Seafood Jampong: A large bowl of seafood stew with a red broth that has some creaminess as well as spice. Nice texture and chock full of large mussels, scallops, shrimp (gigantic Gulf shrimp as well as baby shrimp), Asian squid, and noodles. The squid was a little chewy, but everything else was cooked beautifully. This dish satisfied both in the restaurant and as leftovers the next day. I came here after going to Snowdae's next door and we ordered half/half of soy garlic & spicy wings. We also had gotten the salmon avocado ball, at the time, which is one of my personal favorite items that Bonchon offers. The wings were a good size and were tasty! They've cut the order down from 8 to 6 wings while raising the price another dollar from 3 months ago. A 10 piece order of wings is now $18; which is on par with every location near me. Even the chicken strips are priced the same. I've championed BonChon to all of my friends and brought lots of people, but these prices are unsustainable. I *LOVE* the product they put out above any of the several other KFC places that have recently opened. While the Cambridge location may stay open, I predict a short window for their other MA locations in this economy.

This is a nice antidote to what way TOO MANY "Asian" restaurants are like in the greater Boston…read morearea: slick, prettified and exoticized decor, inflated pricing and mediocre, bland and generally dumbed-down tourist food. This place is none of those things---the interior is simple and dare I say, well worn. But that's the whole point, you feel like you're in an authentic immigrant family restaurant, which it appears to be---a very very sweet and kind lady seems to be the only server in this place (we went on a weeknight, so maybe on a Friday/Sat/Sun it's more crowded and there are more staff) and her husband mans the cash register by the door. Old school! Food is solid and authentic, and refreshingly gimmick-free. What you see is what you get. Shockingly, the prices are about the same as in the Korean places in the food court at H-Mart down the road in Burlington...but you get more and better quality food! And they don't appear to have an alcohol license, which is kind of a good thing because they don't try to upsell you with their drink menu, which in Asian restaurants tend to be pretty lousy mass-market water-beers (sometimes just with Asian labels on similar swill) at craft-beer prices anyhow. Bimbibap was quite unique: rice was served on a separate bowl, while the actual main bowl was full of veggies and meat and egg. Very nice contrast to most places' bimbibap being 80% rice and 20% veggies/meat. Came with a small side of miso soup. UPDATE, one week later: Came back to try out the Korean BBQ. For 3 people, we ordered 3 of the BBQ menu items, came out to a reasonable $100 or so before tip since we just had the complimentary toasted brown rice tea (hyeonmi-cha) and ice water. It was just the right amount of food for an evening meal (more voractious eaters would probably want an additional 1-2 dishes) and the lady came to our table to cook the food for us, ensuring that nothing would be overcooked. The short rib was easily the best, followed by the bulgogi, and the squid with pork belly and veggies was pretty good not great (it was interestingly cooked over the open flame on a square of aluminum foil). Everything was perfectly marinated, tender and juicy. Ventilation was good, so our clothes did not reek of roasted meat afterwards---some places have weak fans, this one did not. Service was again impeccable, gracious and speedy...very nice warm vibes, not cold or perfunctory like some places. Will definitely be coming back for more!
