We enjoyed our experience at Cathedral Coffee as we were exploring N Portland a few weeks ago. I ordered a cappuccino, which was delightfully smooth. So smooth, in fact, this "takes her cream and sweet with some coffee" had mine sans sweetener and did not miss it one bit! I ordered a savory foldover that was packed with flavor. The space was comfortable and welcoming with cool wooden tables and seating. The seats were a little tall for my short legs, but I was comfortable enough for the time we were there. Cathedral is a a good choice in the neighborhood. We love the open air concept. There's cozy room inside, or great tables outside. We got our orders in quickly. I was visiting Portland and decided to try Cathedral Coffee as it was in the area of the disc golf course my boyfriend was playing. It's located in a cute neighborhood and has ample parking. There is a cute patio area for when the weather is nice and plenty of seating inside. Upon entering, there was a line that was moving at a pretty steady pace, but while I was waiting for my drink it never seemed to end, so this is a pretty popular spot! I am extremely picky with Chai lattes as they are often either really watery and/or lacking in spice. After reading a lot of positive reviews for the Chai here, I decided to give it a try. The barista described it as a spicy, but still sweet Chai, which I feel was spot on. It has the creamy subtle sweetness that I look for in a good Chai latte, while still delivering on the warming spices. I didn't try any of the pastries, although they all looked delicious! This is a super cute coffee shop that is perfect for remote work or just a casual meetup. If you are in the area, definitely give it a try! read more

If I still lived in Portland, I would move to St. John's for this coffee shop! It's so special. The coffee is some of the best in Portland, and the staff here are so friendly and thoughtful! Miraculously, there is always seating available, and it's so cute and cozy! They have both outdoor and indoor seating areas. Plenty of outlets for working too. Sad to say, this place has jumped the shark... I have been a customer for over a decade, long before they started roasting their own beans. Within the last year quality has started to decline, especially noticeable in the bagged beans. As the price rises and the quality goes down, I have finally given up hope and started buying my beans elsewhere. Definitely a cute little place to come grab a cup but be prepared for quite a line on weekends because this place is popular. With good reason... they have quality drinks, nice employees and definitely not complaining about anything there. It has the exact stereotypes of a portland coffee place, cute seating, homely vibe, young pretty staff, gluten free muffins and overly expensive coffee drinks. Now dont get me wrong i know those drive thru joins are all expensive too, but when you get above a 6 dollar 12 oz cup it seems a bit expensive. The place is charming with a modern -meet- relaxed coffee shop vibe . Lots of seating indoors as well as outside . The space is very well lit and has a calm vibe . Their Chai Latte is one of the best ones in town and has the right amount of spice and kick to it . The baked goods are also pretty good but I do feel that there is a lack of options for sweet stuff but the savory options are popping . Lots of variety and very well made . They also sell small batch coffee and Ghee etc . Service was good and friendly and even through they have a lot of people visiting, the lines move fast and your beverage /food also comes out fast . First time at cathedral coffee, and I really really liked it!! I spent 3.5 hours eating and visiting with a friend. It's a very spacious place with lots of indoor and outdoor seating (we enjoyed both). Lots of different types of folks - some seemed to be working and others were being leisurely - we were the latter. This small coffee shop located near Cathedral Park was the perfect start to my day! I ordered a seasonal special in addition to the medium roast. The special was a cold brew coffee that had coconut milk and lime added to it. It sounded like an odd combination, but tasted surprisingly like a Pina Colada! Definitely would recommend. The medium roast drip coffee was also delicious. With hints of Berry and very smooth, the coffee was not overly bitter nor sour, and it tasted great!
