The location of this restaurant has always had an issue with longevity, different businesses have been in and out of this location. While eating at Catherine's my family and I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the restaurant, he was pleasant and accommodating. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced. The only complaint is the noise level on the inside of the restaurant. It is very loud. The service was better than the food. We had bad fish and had to send it back. For the price you pay for the under seasoned food - the portions are for ants. Not sure why it's labeled "farm to table" the food choices don't imply that and there is no sustainable factor. Don't stress over the lack of reservations available, find yourself another choice for dining out at the Jersey shore. read more

Wow. What a disappointment. Have heard nothing but great reviews of this restaurant and every single area of our dinner here was disappointing. Made a 6:30 reservation. Seated promptly. Quickly realized that there was ONE waitress for the entire restaurant. Waited 30 mins for wine glasses. Ordered at the 30 minute point when we finally received our wine glasses. Bread was definitely not made on premises-was stale-ish and not good. The calamari appetizer was sold out by this point: Received our appetizers one hour after sitting. Artichokes were all leaves. No artichoke hearts to be found for over $20. Meatball was salty and just sub par. Dinner arrived at the 1 hour 30 minute point. Got the Bolognese and Lobster pasta. Both had so much sauce you could've added another 1/2 lb pasta to the dish. I wanted so badly to love this place, but other than the one waitress working her ass off to serve 10+ tables, there was nothing good about our experience. read more

Amazing food, however if you choose to have a party or event there, know their communication skills lack and cause a bunch of issues. The night before our event, the head chef texts us how he can not add in an appetiser simply because we chose a hectic weekend without any prior heads up. They expected the two little kids to only want chicken fingers- which was never talked about and up charged us 35$ for a full meal for the kids to split. Not to mention all ready having to change one of our appetisers days before due to convenience of the kitchen (which I could understand, but after how the night went I am let down). All we heard was "no problem" yet last minute were told about all the problems... luckily they didn't ruin our night, but for an owner who has been in the food business for multiple decades, you'd think he would express concerns upfront and order the food for the hand picked menu ahead of time. But I will say their food is good for anyone who won't be dealing with them one on one. read more

i already know its not a good place to go. if you are farm to table you should care about food AND your CUSTOMERS.. not doing any subsitutions is not ok with me. i have dined at fine restaurants my whole life, and this will NOT be one of them. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Catherine's was a quaint place, quiet not noisy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was good. The pricing was a high. However the food was lacking. We arrived at 7:30 on a Thursday night. There were only a few tables taken. The first sign of something wrong was that the waiter said that the Pork Chop on the menu was not available. It was only a Thursday night. How could they be out of one of the menu items (which as most people know farm-to-table restaurants do not have a large menu to choose from). Then my husband and his friend ordered the Kansas City steak. After the order was placed, the waiter came back and said there were not more of those. Again. How does this happen on a Thursday night. So, they ordered the Chicken Scarpariello which should be a fairly delicate dish with delicate flavors. It was not. The chicken looked like it was overcooked in some kind of heavy sauce. And it was over spiced. Both my husband and his friend were very unhappy with the dish. I had scallops and my friend had branzino. Both were good (not great). We did have a few appetizers as well. Which were also good (maybe we should have just had those and called it a night). This was an overpriced restaurant where the food did not meet our expectations. Weeks ago we made a reservation for dinner tonight at Catherine's. Our reservation was 6:30. We were seated immediately. Our server took our order by 7pm. At 7:40 our salad had not arrived. We tracked down the server. Although he denies that he had not put in our order, it is clear by his conversation that he had not!!! He finds our orders and returns to the kitchen. The salad is served and eaten. Server returns and tells 2 of our party that their specials were no longer available. It's now after 8pm. New choices are made and eventually served. My friend discreetly steps toward the hostess. She asks to speak with the manager. The gentleman says he is the owner. He listens to her very valid complaint. The server asks if we want to order dessert. We just want to leave. There was no compensation attempted by the owner. It is my opinion, that in light of what happened, the two dinners should have been comped. In order to have customers return when you have made an error....you must recognize and correct your mistake. This is a one and done for me!!! read more
