Six of us went to dinner here, under new ownership. I cannot rave enough about this place, and I'm in an extremely extremely picky eater :-) We had for appetizers bacon wrapped dates and crabcake. Phenomenal. For my entrée I had the strip steak with Frites. I'm not typically a steak person, but this was amazing. You could literally cut it with a fork. Delicious. My husband had the pan seared scallops and said they were wonderful. Our other friends had fish dishes and said they were top-notch. The desserts were delicious. We had banana Foster, flourless chocolate cake, cheesecake and crème brûlée.Flawless. Chef Bass came over to our table and was so friendly and lovely. After we ate all of this mountain of food, he found out that my husband loves pasta Bolognese. He ran into the kitchen and insisted my husband try some lol it was great. Let me tell you my experience, when attempting to pull into valet parking lot being the only one, a patron was trying to get out of lot, I sat there for 15 minutes with the parking attendant doing nothing. Strike 1 Then we entered on time for our 7 o'clock reservation, a young girl checked our reservation and proceeded to go and ask an older woman (I assume in charge) can over to us and said you can wait outside your table is not ready . Funny thing is there was a table for 2 already set. Absolute zero filler crab cake. A tiny bit of micro diced onion and celery which worked well. But 95% crab. Halibut and Rissoto soecial with Beurre blanc was cooked perfectly. Duck was excellent. Food lacked flavor and was over priced for the quality. I had the duck and while it looked promising it lacked flavor and the meat was kinda chewy. We had the oysters with caviar to start and it was like the caviar was put in with a tweezer, there was like literally 6 caviar beads on each oyster. My daughter got the steak and it was chewy and had a taste of burnt something in outer crust, like the grill wasn't cleaned. Like the steak was not good and for the price I want something that you enjoy with each bite . The highlight was the bananas foster which was good but presentation lacked. We were sitting outside so they couldn't prepare table side (not sure why) , which is ok but you would think they could present better. But it did taste good. Service was ok, waitress didn't come around to check on us which was annoying. the bus boys are high-school kids with no training. The constantly reached across the table even though there was plenty of room to walk around , they filled the water glasses and over flowed the glass so when they brought the glass back to the table it dripped on everything including in my wine glass. We Celebrated our Anniversary here. Our first visit in the 5yrs that we have resided in Point Pleasant. I don't know what took us so long! Being from the New York City area and having been in the restaurant business, I am somewhat of a stickler for service. The attention and professionalism was superb. As was the food experience. First, the service was swift and not intrusive. Our meal was outstanding. Chefs amuse of creamy tomato soup with bruscetta started us off. Foie gras app and wild mushroom app were terrific with the foie seared to crispy on the surface yet smooth and tasty within. We opted for one double pork chop valdostano and one filet mignon au poivre. They were both heavenly. Even the extra side of sautee spinach was unique, not a plain saute but one with a little panache of pignoli and cherry tomato for added flavor and a little color.everything paired well with the wines we brought. We couldn't quite finish so they swiftly boxed the rest for our exit. Finally we had 2 espressos and they complimented them with sambuca snifters. All for under $180. So we go to leave and our server reminds us at the door that we left our food. Embarrassed but thankful. Now in the perking lot the young bus lady follows us out with my lady's purse wishing us a nice weekend. WOW! First time here. What a surprise, a good friend of my wife recommended we try out her restaurant. When we arrived, parking was perfect, and we walked in to find an intimate setting, just the kind of atmosphere we love, relaxing, well-maintained, and with a bright, cheerful, and accommodating hostess. The staff were the best. Right on point and knew exactly what they were doing and when. As for the food, well, it was scrumptious, a word I seldom use. The chef sent us soup with bruschetta. I ordered the Tuna Tower appetizer, one of my favorites, and it came with a generous portion. Guests had the Ceaser salad enough to split. I was expecting everything to be a gourmet-sized portion, but to my surprise, it was most generous. I had the seafood Fra diavolo cooked to perfection, and the sauce was to die for. I tried to avoid bread, but I couldn't leave the wonderful sauce behind. My wife and guest both ordered the Barramundi seafood dish and loved every bite; it was fantastic. We ended our dinner with a tableside Berries Flambe. What a way to go. Bring your favorite wine, and you are set for an evening you won't be disappointed with, as well as the price. We tried Daniel's under the new owners on a Thursday night and they were quite busy. There were was plenty of staff-service was cordial. Decor hasn't changed much since our last visit years ago. Their outdoor patio was charming. We started with an amuse bouche of tomato basil soup and a mini bruschetta crostini. Appetizers Crab cake- good but not the real lump crab I expected Gnocchi with bacon tasty, small portion Escargot- very good Foie gras- good Entrees Duck breast over risotto- duck was good but the risotto was more like wet white rice Prime pork chop- a bit on dry side Artic char- good Pork osso bucco- good Dessert Ricotta cheesecake - nice texture Zabayon with fresh berries made table side- very good Bananas foster- good I was glad to see that they are thriving under new ownership. The food was well prepared and it was served in first class fashion. White table cloths, plenty of servers etc... Bruschetta appetizer plus tomato soup in small dipping cup were complimentary. Fresh rolls on bread plates . Our table of seven was outside but finely appointed with comfort to have conversations going without interference from neighboring tables or diners. I had the Halibut special over risotto , two had veal chops , one had pork osobucco. One had the char and 2 had the barramundi fish over risotto . My husband and I went there tonight for the first time. We had a very delicious meal. I had Atlantic Char while he had Grilled Veal Chop. They also brought us a small cup of lentil soup with a side of bruschetta. The hot yeast raised rolls were yummy! Best of so were the desserts: we had 2 that were made table side: berries with zabaglione, and bananas foster. They were delicious! The place is BYOB so we were able to bring a favorite bottle of wine with us. Staff was polite and professional & the owner/chef came out to meet us- we were very impressed! We will go back! I've said this once and I'll say it again, decor is nice, but the food and staff is what makes for a great dining experience. Joe was our server, absolutely 100% THE BEST! He just went with the flow of our group (hubby, me, our adult son & his fiance & Mini-Me & her bestie) Our table is by no means a quiet, calm, table, ever. When it's the hubby & I with our grown kids, all bets are off, if your sitting next to us, your gonna hear stories & memories from when they were growing up, high school stories, vacation stuff, stuff we were never supposed to hear as parents and some that SURPRISE!! we let you think you didn't know- LOL. It is a sign that we as parents raised our kids well & they love spending time with us, for this is what family is about & celebrating my husband's 61st bday was no exception! We all arrived for 7:30p seating in the back dining area, it is BYOB so everyone brought a bottle or two, because it also a time that I give wine tasting lessons to the clan, lol. This is where Joe comes into play- right off, we told him we are not an average table, we are not needy, we are in no rush, just check on us now & then, he has the best attitude, all smiles & he got our insane humor!! Food: I had the braised escargot, delicious but not as warm as I expected, but the taste made me forget. Hubby had the jumbo crab meat cake & our son ordered as well to share with B, however, it is not meant for sharing, it is a one person appetizer- I will say this- there is barely any filler, it is allll crab meat and for that alone, I think you need to order 2, they are delicious. Mini-Me had the Burrata Salad, she inhaled it, it was so good& Bestie had the Caesar Salad, she said it was very very good, she likes salad a lot. They bring a complimentary small tomato soup & bruschetta toast, which was delicious. Entrees as follows, I had the duck breast, cooked medium so very very good. Hubby had the Twin African Lobster Tails, he inhaled them, Mini-Me & Bestie had the Filet Mignon, Son had the special -which was wheat pasta, puttanesca sauce with shrimp & scallops, B had the Gulf Shrimp. Everyone loved their dinners & we all saved room for dessert! 2-creme brulee, 1 banana foster & 1 berry foster. When asked if I would share-- "Joey Doesn't Share Food!" and Joe our server stopped mid Banana Foster prep & asked, "did you just quote Friends?" uh yup!! Joe was also introduced to Ghost Adventures TV show & Zak's Museum in Vegas. Dinner at DB was fantastic, we have no complaints, thus the 5 stars, we didn't get to meet Daniel until we were leaving, but that is fine, the food and experience was worth every penny- BOOK EARLY because reservations are hard to get. Our server was familiar with the "language of cutlery", so we had no issue with, "finished, don't like, pause, etc" when clearing our table. Our meal started off strong--the bruschetta and tomato soup tastings were spot on, and the shrimp bisque was rich and flavorful. The Raspberry Point oysters, however, leaned more bitter than sweet and briny, perhaps just the August season. For entrées, the braised short ribs were outstanding--tender and full of flavor--while the halibut was underwhelming, bland, and lacking firmness. Adding the African lobster tails to each dish was the right move; they were cooked to perfection and became the highlight of the mains. Dessert was mixed: the bananas foster was excellent and fun to watch prepared tableside, but the crème brûlée fell flat with a rubbery top instead of the expected crisp. Overall, a great evening with wonderful service and atmosphere, but at $250 for two, I expected more consistent "wow" moments--hence 4 stars instead of 5. read more

On July 25th we had a reservation for my mom's bday. While the food was good the atmosphere was terrible. The 3 tables around us were incredibly loud and cursing excessively. Our 2 kids were with us as well. We just wanted to bring my mom out for a nice dinner and could barely hear each other talk. It was honestly obnoxious. They started with a little bit of delicious tomato soup and a crunchy crostini and ended with brownie bites. We all really enjoyed the escargot, fantastic mushrooms with truffle, and stuffed fresh figs for appetizers. I'm still dreaming about the stuffed figs. Every thing was cooked to perfection. We ordered the appetizer special which was Crabmeat over a corn salsa, very little crabmeat in it, for the price. I had the Veal Chop, it was good, but nothing special. Simply amazing! I am a big seafood eater and since I cook a lot at home I don't usually order it out. So, I ordered the Barramundi and WOW Outstanding! Every bite was decadent. The flavors married with roasted garlic was unbelievable. My fiancé ordered the stuffed Pork Chop which I thought was a NO NO too much meat. Smoked bacon, Italian ham, cheese I thought no way...I was wrong it melted in my mouth. This chef is definitely focused on offering only top culinary food. Bring your best wine and enjoy. What a great fine dining restaurant! I came here after reading the great Yelp reviews and I'm so glad I did. Since it was July 4 during a pandemic, the restaurant setup a tent on the side with about 8 tables since you could only dine outside at restaurants in New Jersey at the time. It was a nice setup and wasn't hot at all. Our server came over and told us about all of the mouthwatering specials. We couldn't believe there were so many! For an appetizer, I ordered the French Onion soup and my boyfriend got a Caesar salad. He said the salad was nothing special but the soup was delicious. The server also brought out tomato basil soup and a piece of bruschetta on the house, which was incredibly thoughtful and absolutely delicious! For our entrees, I opted for the halibut and he got the pork special with mushroom sauce. Both dishes were great, however, we really enjoyed the halibut, which came with crab meat and a shrimp. It was so fresh! We passed on dessert, but once again the server brought over complimentary mini walnut brownies, which were divine. The hospitality, the service and food were wonderful!
