Sabrina is great. Apparently they have some new technicians that are awful when it comes to Customer Service. Why hire people to install equipment if they're not a people person. Mike is very rude I stated this the first time I was there. He installed some equipment in my car that now is not working . Sabrina informed him that I was going to swing by the shop for him to look at it. Upon arrival Mike lied and said Sabrina never said I was stopping by. Mike wouldn't acknowledged me, never looked at me, kept his back to me and stated he couldn't help me. I needed an appointment. I paid for the service , he installed my equipment , it's not working, but yet he never even asked me, What was the problem , can you give me a few minutes? He just barked at me and says I can't help you right now. You need to make an appointment.. He is rude. I paid for a service that is now not working and you installed it, you don't have the right to be rude. Terrible customer service especial for the prices they charge. read more

I'm very sorry to have to write this but my experience was about 50/50. My ex spent a small fortune to outfit me one Christmas with a new stereo unit, a sub woofer, Sirius XM radio, remote start and a backup camera. Generally everything went well with the install but I started having trouble with one of the speakers and didn't know if there was a wire loose or something. I took it in three times for this issue and even asked them to test drive it and try hitting bumps because that's how I'd lose the speaker. Every time I took it from Nottingham to their location required time off and time waiting. They'd spend like no time in the vehicle, just long enough to stink up the cabin with cigarette smoke and then return it with a nonchalant "It's not doing it now.". No trouble shooting, nothing but stink. They didn't charge me because it was still under warranty but it was still a PITA. The owner and his wife are nice and friendly but Damn! Make your staff act like professionals and put out their butts and maybe take a test drive. I ended up talking it to Audio Connection in Parkville and they identified and fixed the issue for less than $200. Maybe good for installs but not much else sadly. read more

My remote start failed the first snow of 23 no one was willing to look at it called Kate and radio on a Saturday at 2:50 p.m. and the young lady at the desk said absolutely come on by let's take a quick peek at it Jake came out and have me running and fixed within 3 minutes of my arrival hats off to this crew these guys really know their stuff I really appreciate all your hard efforts and to my amazement there was also no charge how I'm much more honest can you get with a company like this these guys are 100% dependable honest and will always do business with them whenever I need my audio radio or remote start needs for my vehicles thank you so much guys hats off I'll be sure to get lunch down there next week thank you again I can be cool when my Ridgeline again read more

I called yesterday to make an appointment and was told that she didnt have the appointment book with her that she would call me back . I waited for 4 hours then I called back at this time I was given an appointment for 12 today . I arrived at 11:45 to be sure not to hold the next appointment up . I SAT THERE UNTILL 1 PM and my car still wasnt touched . I ask the helpful women behind the counter if I could get my keys back and reschedule, She ask why I explaned its been over an hour and my car hasnt been looked at . she then called the shop to express to them there was a a customer waiting and they told her.. we will get it now . within lesss then 10 minutes they had my car trouble shot. I went here to specifically find out which part of my sound system was causing me to not get audio ie. sound . which would be done by process of elimination using a fiber optic loop to eliminate each component 1 at a time . the loop would allow you to bypass each component therefore letting you know which one was bad ie. the radio the amplifier the voice controll . my answer from Caton Audio was its either the radio or the amplifier. If I would have just been given my keys back I would have saved 60 dollars. Im not sure what the purpose of a business is if its not to make money and do a service . I guess if they can keep you there long enough to have anyone look at your car and give you a bland oversight of what they looked at . They can keep getting that 60 dollar diagnostic fee. i small loss sometimes will save you big . read more

This is a place tp avoid as they allow your vehicke to be damaged in their small congested paring are whilst they are meant to be working on it. When the damage was pointed out to the manager I was given the litany of lies thath the closed circuit video showed that the damage was present on arrival but that the video was erased and as such could not be shown to me This is a total load of tripe that has so many inconsistencies it is almost laughable These clowns are hopeless liers that should be closed down. read more

installed my own sound system in my truck. 2 12" skar subs. took it in to caton radio to have a full diag and to have it tuned. $85 for this, they say everything looks good. 10 mins down the road I could smell my subs burning. they blew out a couple days later. guy tuned it by ear and it was way overpowered when I went back to check with a meter. took it back to them and they tried blaming it on the brand of subwoofer and on the music I was playing, and on the head unit. no apology, nothing. John was extremely disrespectful about the situation as well. will never go back to them. John said "it's not like $85 pays my rent" when I went back in. they don't care about you. save your money. read more

I had a great experience with Caton Radio. My auxiliary connection was cutting in and out so I took my car in to have them take a look. It turns out my radio was just too old and the circuits or something or another just weren't going to work anymore. They were very straightforward with me and I felt like they were very fair and honest. At the end of the day they gave me a good deal on a new radio with the features I was looking for. The whole process with evaluation and instillation took about 2 hours which I thought was pretty good and rather standard. They had a nice waiting area with comfortable couches and a TV and the time honestly went by pretty fast as I was catching up on other things I've been meaning to take care of all week. I would definitely recommend calling ahead to get an appointment. Their weekend hours get pretty booked up but I didn't have too hard a time getting in after speaking with them. Hopefully I won't need to come back anytime soon, but if I did have any other issues I would definitely not hesitate to come back here. read more

Our car mechanic sent something electronic from our vehicle to Caton Radio in late November for repair; they did not fix it correctly and so it was taken back to Caton Dec. 15. As of today, Jan. 8, Caton still has not returned the item for our repair. They did not return my message and today, their mailbox is full and they are closed for weather?? My mechanic, who says he has worked with them for 30 years, says he can not get a straight answer. I will be filing a complaint w/ the AG's office. read more

Just wanted to say that this shop greatly exceeded my expectations. I had put off going to Caton Radio to even get an estimate on work for over a year after reading some of the reviews, but I guess those with problems are the ones apt to provide a review, and when everything works out great, we often fail to spend the effort to thank those that contributed. I don't want to be one of those as my experience with Caton Radio far exceeded my expectations. I have a very basic 2013 Tundra pickup truck, which my wife has been driving a good bit lately due to some non-profit work she's doing to feed the less fortunate. And, she has wanted a backup camera added to the truck so she could better back in to loading docks. In addition, she drives several hours a couple of times a week and really wanted Apple Carplay to use with her iPhone while driving. We didn't even have bluetooth in the truck before going to Caton Radio. So our requirements were simple when I met with the owner, John, on a Saturday afternoon. He spent just about an hour with me, explaining the work and providing recommendations on an affordable head unit and camera that would provide bluetooth connectivity, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and a backup camera that would work just like a factory unit coming on when shifting the truck into reverse. I was very skeptical they could pull all this off and make it look factory installed, but went ahead and parted with my deposit and scheduled the work for the very next Friday afternoon. I waited while they did the work that took about four hours, but when John met me at the truck to provide an overview and set up my phone, I was blown away, the install was beautiful and I don't believe any normal person would think that it didn't come from the factory when the truck was purchased. Everything worked flawlessly, and John spent another 30 minutes making sure that I was well versed in all the operation and options that the head unit could provide. I came here across town to get window tinting done. The staff was friendly and professional; prices were very competitive; and the job done was great. Luckily, I've never had a bad tint job but I've certainly have heard about bad jobs. Glad I didn't experience one here. They have a limited showroom with some of the wares they sell and also a nice waiting room. If there was anything that I could nitpick on, is the estimated time they said I would be back on the road....was underestimated by a few hours---I would have brought reading material to occupy more time! read more

I called Caton Radio a couple of weeks ago to see what kind of double DIN, touchscreen radios they had in stock for me to look at. The gentleman I spoke with said that they had all sorts of brands on display and that I should come on by. When I arrived at the store, a quick glance at their display showed that they only had one double DIN, touchscreen radio, and that was a Sony. The salesgirl said that I could have any radio ordered. Oh, great. What the hell? I was really clear with the person I spoke with on the phone about my desire to look at various models. It was a complete waste of time. Caton radio, it might be a good idea to start off the relationship with truthfulness rather than a lie. Thanks but no thanks; I have no interest in giving you any of my money. I actually had them install a radio and some speakers about 17 years ago, and the store did a nice job. I had my radio installed by them, and it looks awesome. I went in the day before wondering if they could install the radio, they then told me that I needed to buy a new kit for it to fit. They ordered it that day and had it shipped to them the next day. They then worked on the install for about an hour and it was done very well. The women at the front desk who helped me was really nice and helpful. She also didn't mind me asking alot of questions. All in all I would recommend that people have this company do their stereo install for non-facotry radio units. read more

They refuse to cater to the ADS services on Saturdays. The manager informed me that it's the repair department that handles that which is a lie. I just came from another ADS center and they weren't able to calibrate my determinator because Caton Radio owns it. I do not recommend get your ADS with Caton Radio. They intentionally aren't helpful with the ADS so that they can charge $100 unlock fee on the pretext that that's what they get charged which is a lie since they own the equipment. They are crooks plain and simple. You get your ADS with them you won't be able to do the calibration anywhere else but with them. Which is highly inconvenient for anyone that is working 2 jobs like me. read more

I called ahead to set expectations. My RV had a GPS/Radio system that had to be replaced by the RV dealer. They botched up the installation and my steering wheel controls would no longer work. I had another discount place try to fix the issue and it took about hour and nothing was fixed. After the techs at Caton had a chance with this issue, they were able to resolve the problem and my GPS/Radio system is restored to it's factory settings. Bravo Caton Radio! read more

For anyone who reads my review take my experience for what it is: First off, there is a great team of individuals here, I have been dealing with caton radio since 2008~ Got to learn a little about pretty much everyone there. I met one of the owners on a unique bases out at a car event, he was kind and recommended I swing by his shop to check it out. Long story short I did... 4-5 cars of mine later and they have done pretty much anything I've wanted them to do. This included diagnosing problems that they came across on their own (that they certainly had nothing to do with) and installing a grocery list of items, from car alarms, window tint, custom headlights, vinyl wrap, stereo systems, push to starts, body parts, headliners, and soo much more. I've witnessed them fabricating, and developing specific parts for vehicles, even fixing computers. The quality of my work was always high. There was one recent incident where my speaker went out in my sub, but I had a warranty on it so they got that replaced (sucked not having it in for a few days but o well) I have learned that this family owned business preferably loves tuners. That is, those that like to modify their car, truck or bike and have a vision for them. I would say this is probably why many like myself have developed a great relationship with them. Things I've noticed on typical visits: Staff are very knowledgable, Professional to every customer i've seen come through the doors. Sometimes there are the customers that for whatever reason try and get over on clearly written policies for their own benefit but they rarely work. Staff work hard out back and it's not surprising to see one of the bosses step back there to insure those hefty jobs get done. I would recommend people read all reviews about this place and take my experience and others with a grain of salt. They have taken care of not only my vehicles but my friends, family and co workers of mine with all positive feedback. It's a pleasure to continue doing business with them. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! After going against my better judgement about going back for a second time I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment. I was hoping that maybe things would be better but I came away being more frustrated than the first visit. Much like Karen D and her experience, I was given one price only to have it be double once the vehicle was apart. Then after the tech said it would be about an hour the vehicle was still not ready 4.5 hours later. They then told me that it was ready but there was another car behind it blocking it in the service bay and I had to wait for that repair to be finished before they could pull mine out. Really!!! Once my truck was outside I inspected the work only to discover that the lights that they had installed were put in upside down and none of the bolts were tight! So now rather than go back and waste another 4 hours waiting for them to fix their mistake I am doing it myself. Yelp needs to institute negative stars for businesses like this. read more

When they first installed my radio shit sounded poor and i was receiving a "Amp error" I dont Know how they did not peep that before they said i was good to go.I brung my car back and they found out the problem and ordered the part I needed with out any extra charge to fix my radio.They def on point wit the tints.Overall i would say they do a good job and would not hurt going to them. only bad thing I would say is They can do better with Clients that scheduled appoinments and are a little expensive. read more

We brought a DVD player for our minivan and had it installed by them. Not even 3 weeks later it fell down and hit my husband in the head while he was driving. When we went back to tell them, they had horrible customer service and did not take ownership for what happened. To sum it up shoddy work and even worse customer service. If you have anything installed over your head make sure to wear a helmet at all times because they are "human and make mistakes"! read more

Recently had a two year old remote starter replaced due to poor installation at CR. Ground wire was not installed properly shorting out and ultimately ruining the unit, and melting the fuse (no fire fortunately). I wish I could attach a photo. Tach wire was never installed which explains why starter would stick on and I would have to quickly shut car off and restart. I called CR a while back and they would not take an appointment, nor would they take 10 minutes to look at my car while I waited for 3 hours!!! My opinion only.... CR has slacked off relying on their old reputation; perhaps a high turnover rate(?) I had a horrible experience w/Caton Radio. For those that deal w/facts here they are. 6/11/11 bought and had head unit and 4 speakers install for over $1000. 1.5 hr. install took over 4 hrs. worked and looked fine. 1/12/13 took car in as the internal fuse in the unit failed due to ipod usb cable shorted and took out the fuse. Fuse was changed no charge and things went smooth. I was plesently surprised. 5/10/13 CD player not working. Went in for an estimate to see if it was worth repairing. I use the USB input about 90% of the time. Unit was removed and was told they should be able to repair it. I paid $160 down and was told I'd be called w/an estimate BEFORE any work was done. The $160 was for DE and RE- install of unit plus the $100 deposit for repair. 5/31/13 Never heard from Caton so I called and was told they were having trouble finding the part ( the laser). 6/14/13 I had to Call Caton and was told they had sourced the part. 6/21/13 Went into Caton radio as I never heard from them and was told I had been called and they never heard back so the had just decided to go ahead w/the UNAUTHORIZED repair of my unit. 6/24/13 I was told my unit was ready and I could come in the next day for the install. 6/25/13 was told unit wasn't ready yet after I went in to Caton. 6/26 was told unit is blowing fuses upon further testing. ( so I guess it wasn't ready on the 24th??) New fuses were ordered. ? ( A repair shop w/o fuses...should be a clue as to competency.) 6/27/13 Still awaiting fuse delivery. 6/28/13 unit was retested and a "burn in was done". Couldn't get it installed over weekend as A tech didn't work on the weekend? So if it's repaired and at this point no different than an install why not install it like the rest of the weekend work they do. 7/1/13 arrived to be told the tech had to leave as he just found out his daughter was pregnant? What a lame pile of crap excuse. You just can't make this stuff up folks!!! The truth is indeed stranger than fiction. 7/2-3/13 more excuses why the unit wasn't ready. 7/5/13 I called the manager? And had a reasonable calm discussion about my situation and was told they don't want to have units in there shop any longer than necessary as it cuts into there room, stock, etc.? 7/6/13 I had enough w/Caton Radios inept, incompetent customer service. I'm an electronics service tech myself and have worked on all types of equipment. I always had fuses and common spare parts. Just try ANY of the stuff described above standing in front of hospital administrators and radiologist's when there CT or MRI machine is down and you'll KNOW the meaning of customer service. It was well worth forgetting about my $160 paid up front and forgetting about getting my $400 2 yr. old head unit back just to not have any more aggravation dealing w/Caton radio. I went to The Audio connection in Columbia and got a new head unit of comparable specs. Installed in about an hr. for the total of...wait for it....$236.00. The facts speak for themselves. I signed up for Yelp solely to help you avoid this business. Summary: I would never go back for anything, and I would recommend you avoid at all costs. They are completely inconsistent in pricing, communication, and documentation. Interior car work is inherently a shady business, though. I should have just done everything myself using YouTube tutorials. Details: My tape player was broken, so I took it in hoping they could fix it. Yes, they pulled the radio at a charge of 130 - 30 being the removal fee and 100 being store credit. They did NOT make it sufficiently clear that the 100 was non-refundable, non-transferrable, can't-even-resell-as-a-gift-card store credit before they began work. After diagnosing my radio, they tried to upsell me to expensive aftermarket products to get me to spend more. I decided to use the store credit for labor costs to reinstall a new radio and subwoofer that I would buy on eBay. I called three times to get quotes for these different installations. Each time I spoke to a different person, and each time I got wildly different rates. Let me reinforce this point - people at the same business were quoting price differences of 112 vs 30 dollars and 75 vs 0 dollars for the exact same job. Those were some actual prices they quoted me. At this point I was beyond frustrated, so once all of the parts I purchased on eBay came in, I called again to let them know I was coming in. I was able to haggle with them back to reasonable prices for the work, but was left with a remainder of store credit that I had no use for. I rated two stars instead of one because instead of wasting the remainder of my store credit, they were able to do a simple hand wash and vacuum. They also amazingly did install everything correctly, although with the large number of confusing papers I was forced to sign, I would never return in a million years. read more

So I waited until February 16 for call which never came and decided to try again. Same general manager said he would call back in an hour. Waited for 4 hours to call again and was told he would call in 15-20 minutes. So io waited until noon the next day to call and he wasn't there, would be back in about 45 mins. If I could give no stars i would. i have no idea how this place is even open. extremely unprofessional EXTREMELY!!! I get there at my APPOINTMENT TIME! sit there for over an hour and 40mins (All i needed was my radio opened and just the cereal number of my radio) something that should take a matter of minutes by this time i am fed up! i ask an employee from the window tint place to contact sabrina the lady who was assisting me....she came up to tell my boyfriend that her tech just got in. why in world would you make me wait almost 2hrs before your tech comes in? not to mention no one but the tint place is doing anything.....everyone is on their phones and talking about husbands cheating etc. sabrina tells my boyfriend itll be 20mins....on top of the 2hrs I just waited. 20mins pass I walk down stairs I dont even ask her how things are going and my car is sitting in the exact same place no one has touched it. the Tech is literally sitting on his phone with a cigarette in his hand... I walk upstairs ask for my keys and she rudely talks to me as if shes better then us. i tell her shes extremely unprofessional. not to mention her 2 kids who were running a muck jumping on furniture, knocking over chairs and clscreaming the entire time while in the shop. and to end it all I wasted over 2hrs not to even have them give me my cereal number to my radio. Too bad there is not a -5 rating available. Went in at 12:30 for a tint job.. @5:00 PM I discovered that they had not touched my car. We were initially told that wait time would be 2hrs. However, we found out that half the staff was a no show. So instead of letting the customer know that the wait time would be longer, they insisted on lying about the status of the job. At 2:30 we were told that they cut the tent and the wait would be 20 min. At 430 we were told that the windows were being cleaned. At 4:45 we discovered that the car had not been touched and was still parked outside. In addition, the attitude of staff was nonapologetic. WILL NOT GO THERE AGAIN! read more

Been here so many times its ridiculous and been super patient. Had wheel lights done and under carriage lights. Wheel lights continue to malfunction. Looked under the car electrical tape is coming undone, glue, its not worth the money or the warranty which the pick and choose how to facilitate. Chris told me he would not charge me to repair the wires for my wheel lights after they had been damage in and accident then charged me anyway no explanation. OK I understand maybe there might be a few unforeseen bumps but to charge a third more than what was quoted.....shady....
