If I could give zero stars, I would. This company is extremely unprofessional--from the customer service representative, Takia, to the installer. I should have taken the Groupon purchase as a red flag. My original appointment was scheduled for 3/16. I took the day off and showed up, only to not be serviced and not even receive a call informing me that they wouldn't be available. This was after they asked me to come in early. I rescheduled for 3/21 at 9 AM. I arrived on time, but the tint technician showed up late with multiple excuses. After waiting two hours, I discovered that the person who was supposed to tint my car had arrived but did absolutely nothing. This experience is extremely disappointing, especially when trying to support a Black-owned business. The level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. Situations like this unfortunately contribute to why some businesses struggle to stay afloat. I will not be returning or recommending this company. read more

I've been here at least 4 to 5 times and never had an issue. Today is my 1st time coming and using a Groupon and although it may have started out kind of confusing, it worked itself out regarding what was included and what was not included and extra fees that may be incurred. They run on time and do their best to get you in-and-out of there. I was out of there in a shorter amount of time quoted when I arrived and I really appreciated that because a sista has things to do! But I also know that this business is worth the wait so, I would have waited if I needed to. I will continue to support this business because they never let me down. The staff from the front desk to the installers are always courteous and my Tint was completed perfectly w/o incident! The only issue I have with this place is the uncomfortable waiting area. Today it's 50ﾟ outside in a felt like the air conditioner was on full blast. The chairs a pretty old and it's always so dark in here. It is a bit difficult to find as their sign is not visible from the road. Tkia the manager at this Tintmax location is very good at customer service. Her staff does a great job. They know the Maryland tint laws and work with customers to provide a good product. From start to finish the process is seamless, fast and easy. There is a lounge where the customer can wait and the tint process takes 1 hr. You can request a light meter reading on your factory glass to see what tint levels you have which is usually 70%. I like the work they did on my 2008 BMW 528xi. I didn't use Groupon as I heard they call an outside consultant for that and it needs an appointment. They are more competitive than the shops in Columbia MD or in Virginia. I will be a repeat customer. read more

Stopped into Tintmax today to see if I could get my windows tinted. Drove past the place 3 times. They need a bigger sign lol. They have 3 types of tint you can get: Premium, Ultra, and Elite with tint percentages from 5% (darkest) to 35% (light; factory tint). The Ultra is $25 more. The Elite is $75 more. PROS- They were able to get me in today with no appointment. I dropped my car off at 1:50pm and went to Bob Evans down the street. By 2:47pm, I was back in my car driving up the street. Quick service. The tint looks pretty good on my car. CONS- I had purchased a deal off Groupon. The whole conversation changes when you mention Groupon. They have a special appointment book for Groupon. The earliest appointment they had with the Groupon special was mid-October. OCTOBER??? Wow. I cancelled my Groupon on the spot and just went with the in-house deal that Tintmax was currently offering. They only do a certain number of Groupon appointments a day. Less than 10. I needed all of my windows and the strip on the windshield done. Groupon's deal did not cover that. Yelpers you all were spot on when you said be careful with the Groupon stuff. I guess it's a good deal if you want a basic tint job and can wait months to get it done. OVERALL- I would return for another tint job. read more

I got top notch service from Tint Max! I was able to get an appointment quickly, even though I needed a Saturday visit. Everyone I interacted with there was extremely friendly. I had the two front windows on my car tinted. I had initially made the appointment for that and also to have my windshield tinted. They were very open and honest about the legal problems this could cause for me in the future due to MD laws. I thought that was nice because I didn't know that it was illegal to tint your windshield. They easily could have just taken my money and turned me loose. They didn't though. Called 3/3/22 and had an appointment first thing in the morning 3/7/22. Absolutely great service, both sides of the business (tint max and the stereos) were helpful and responsive. They said it would take 2 hours, I was back in my newly tinted car in less than 1.5 hours. I'd recommend Tint Max to anyone. I came there with my 2005 Honda Accord, out of state tags, and they were cool about it. Can pay with cash, card, or Groupon. Everything is professional and clean. Waiting room has multiple chairs and couches plus a flat screen tv to wait for the short hour and change. Got my 5 windows and sunstrip for $200 cash. This was my first experience getting my car windows tinted, and I was so happy it was at Tintmax. T'Kia was so helpful on the phone, and I had called to change my appointment several times. She was always professional and friendly. When I got there, it was a little confusing because they share the space with a car audio business, but I figured it out. We figured out the tint I wanted, and she told me it would be about an 1.5 to 2 hour wait. I sat in the man-cave esque waiting room with leather chairs and a flat screen, plugged in my wifi to my laptop, and just waited til my car was ready. It looked gorgeous! The next day it came up in the rear back window about half the tint was hanging down. Owner yelled at me telling me it's your car window that's y it came down. Ridiculous no matter what you performed a service and it was poor Instead of apologizing for poor quality of a job. I got my refund and went to New and Better tint down the street. Front 2, backseat 2 windows were solid-the small bubbles disappeared within 2 days. The rear window had bubbles on it that didn't disappear even after months passed. I don't think they cleaned it properly before applying the film. I nominate Tintmax for Captain of the fail boat, the bane of the seven seas of suck. The product is as good as any other but their customer service ruined the experience because they didn't have any means of communicating to each other, which means no cell phone, landlines, telefax, carrier pigeon or smoke signal. There's no sign on the building which helped the experience feel like an elite club that you can only find if someone who has been there leads you by hand. Making an appointment only took 5 phone calls, don't worry, they didn't call me back I just got lucky. This club is so elite you have to call during the 1 hour window where they answer. They complete the experience by having no one there when they open, I mean their voicemail says nine, but no one was there until ten. So elite, I just got to get in there! Very few times have I experienced a complete lack of customer service. Firstly, there was no one there when they scheduled my appointment. When someone did show up, they had no idea where my appointment was. I waited 2 hours before someone came to the waiting area and asked, 'Did they tell you you're appointment was at 1?'' No one did and I could have been home attending to my 3 year old who has 21 stitches in her face. When she told me my appointment was at 1, I said it was earlier and she said she is the one who makes the appointments and that I was completely wrong. So I've waited for 2 hours to hear that my appointment was messed up and that my car wasn't even being looked at. The appointment lady said, 'Well, I wasn't here so that's why they didn't know.' I recently purchased a new car and wanted to get my windows tinted. I called a few places in the Howard County area to get an estimate for my hatchback; the prices were all approximately in the same range. I found this place through Google and took a stab at them because the other place in Columbia that I wanted to go to was booked that Saturday. Over the phone, the guy quoted me $140 (that's around $35 cheaper than other places!) but also said that the credit card machine was broken, so I could pay $130. I went to the ATM, brought my car in, and was finished in approximately an hour and a half. Their waiting room looks like it has recently been remodeled and is clean and comfortable. This was my first time getting my windows tinted, so I was having a bit of an anxiety attack over all the potential things that could go wrong. Fear not, fellow Yelpers- your car is in good hands here. They use Llumar film, which is backed by a lifetime warranty, and do a fantastic job of applying it. The guy that did my windows took the time to explain the post-tint curing process to me and provided written instructions on it as well. Better yet, when it came time to pay, he didn't have enough change and told me to keep my $20...so ultimately, I ended up paying $120. Zing! We have a winner. There, now you have some peace of mind. I called inquiring about tinting two tail lights that are even surfaced and don't open with the trunk. The gentleman that picked up the phone suggested it'd be around $100, but to bring it in. I came about 15 minute later and another guy quoted me $125 ( seems based on my appearance and car I was driving ). So let's do the math. They are tinting 4 door cars for $125-150 and asking $125 for two tail lights? These guys are highway robbery! They claim to not be a chop shop and professionals, but their demeanor and price gauging says otherwise. Tip: they prey on young black males looking to customize their vehicles. I admit it is hard to get ahold of Tintmax. I called and left several messages over the course of about 10 days before I was able to get ahold of the owner and schedule a time to come in. Its probably due to the fact that its a small operation, renting a single bay out of the Caton Radio shop and the guy is always working on a car. Anyway, I called around 10:45 and had a 2:30 pm appointment. I used the yelp $25 off tint check in offer on my car and I am happy with the job so far. I was waiting for a while, approx 3 hrs for a estimated 1.25 hr job, but the owner gave me a free Windshield Sunstrip to compensate me for my wait. It was very busy that day according to the Shop, and it looked like they had quite a few vehicles getting audio installations and a few in line for tint. Just plan ahead and either drop your car off, or take a book or something to read and occupy yourself. I got a decent tint job for roughly half the price of my last tint job at D&L tinting off Joppa Rd. Time will tell if this holds up, but right now I am satisfied. read more

Originally bought a Groupon coupon to get my windows tinted here. Left 2 messages and finally got a call back a week later. Appointment was set. My vehicle was still not worked on when we went to check after waiting 2.5 hours. We waited over 3.5 hours before they finished working on my vehicle. Nobody even came to let us know that they were running behind! No apologies and no discounts either! Why make appointments if you are going to make me wait close to 4 hours? Don't come here unless you have a lot of time to waste sitting in uncomfortable chairs. Time is money and more importantly, I would have gladly left and come back if someone had communicated to me that I was going to sit here for 4 hours! read more

My husband purchased a tint package for me for Mothers Day ( May--later this week). I called today to schedule an appointment, and to my shock I was told the first available appoint was August 28th!! I explained to the woman ( and i use that term loosely) that the coupon expires the 1st of September. She told me is wasn't her problem that the company sold too many groupon offers. I asked for her name, but she refused and told me she was the only one that answered the phones. I then asked for the manager or information to contact the owner, she proceeded to tell me that I didn't need to speak to anyone else that she was the only one that books the appointments. I then asked for a refund, and was told " I guess you better call Groupon for that"! I have never in my 40 years experienced such poor customer service in my life! Giving them a 3 because of customer service. The final product is amazing. I just had to jump through hoops to get to it. I first made an appointment in March. When I arrived I was told that they could only do so many Groupon's in one day and I was not one of them. I originally bought it from Groupon for $90. They told me they could still service my car, but it would be an extra $50. So I just rescheduled instead and the next opening wasn't until June. When the day finally arrived for me to get my windows tinted I was told I would have to pay $25 for two extra windows and then the front windshield was not included in the Groupon and I would have to pay $75 extra for that. Overall the product is great just not the customer service. I will not return for future business and I wouldn't recommend. It's not worth the headache. This place is a joke and scam!! I had made an appointment over a week ago, I arrived on time for appointment and was told the window tinting people weren't there yet. I waited over 30 minutes and they finally called the tint manager on her cell. The manager said that it would be an ADDITIONAL $75 for my car since it was bigger. I was never told this when I made my appointment when they asked what kind of vehicle I had. They wanted to also charge an additional $30 for my small rear windows and $20 extra for a darker shade(I was okay with the extra $20 and $30, but not the extra $75). STAY AWAY from this place! So they were trying to have me pay a total extra $125 on top of the cost of the tint!! read more

They did a great job with the tint! I have been at this location to get 3 different cars tinted with the last 5 years and it always turns out great. I usually drop the vehicle off and come back later to pick up. They share a space with Caton Radio. The waiting room has a TV and lounge chairs but they are old and torn. I wouldn't waste my time sitting around here. The customer service varies depending on who you speak with. I give it 3 stars because I had to continuously call to schedule an appointment. The second vehicle I brought for a 10am appointment and was told by the Caton Radio staff the TintMax staff was not in yet for the morning and they wouldn't run their business that way. Also, I once bought a Groupon for my car but was told that it was really for a coupe and the additional cost to tint my car was more than the original price without the Groupon. I had just purchased a car and wanted to get the windows tinted. I brought it  to TintMax and they informed me that the car had previously been tinted and it had a lot of glue left on the windows. I was upset at hearing this news because i know once a car has previously had tints to have them redone cost an "arm and leg".  They gave me a very good price despite the car having previously haf tints. Now im very  excited and happy with my tints!! I was very happy how quickly they were able to get me in and out (despite them being super busy)!  They got me in last minute and were able to give me a day and time that worked with my schedule.
