    Carnitas Tacos
    Jaime N.

Hands down the best Taco Tuesday in Miami, I deeply regret having to write this review because imma be blowing up my hidden spot but this right here is some of the best if not THEE best tacos in Miami. Service is nothing out of the ordinary, it's a tiny little spot so whatever you need you call someone over and they help you out, not much going on in that department. Ambiance is what you'd expect out of your everyday taqueria spot. Now the FOOD here... THE FOOD... these carnitas tacos are GAME-CHANGING... taco Tuesdays here are absolutely undefeated.. 2 dollars a taco you can't beat that for the quality you're getting with these tacos.. paired with the salsa verde it just doesn't get any better.. The al pastor tacos are also so delicious here.. Carnitas and Al Pastor are definitely the way to go if you're planning on trying this spot!

Listen up! This spot is the real deal. Straight up authentic Mexican food that actually hits. It's located inside a plaza with plenty of parking. It's the kind of place you shouldn't judge just from the outside cause let me tell you... The food is legit. The tacos are classic street style with cilantro and onion, juicy, flavorful, and not dry at all. The quesadilla was crispy outside, loaded inside, and super satisfying. The burrito was grilled, packed, and filling in the best way. Honestly one of the best burritos I've had in a long time, and this one is memorable The birria with the sauce on the side is the standout. Rich, savory, and perfect for dipping. A little Messy but worth it. The Guac and pico tasted fresh, everything felt just right, and the portions were solid for the price. No fancy presentation, just really good, authentic food. Definitely a spot I'd go back to.

Went here for a weekly Sunday date with my girlfriend. It was around noon so pretty empty. Place plays music videos but has it at a decent volume and also plays movies with no volume on another TV. An array of seating options. When seated you order your drinks and get some chips and salsa. The salsa is is really good. Just the right amount of kick. I later used it over the green sauce they gave us with our food cause the green sauce had no heat at all. I ordered 3 tacos, carne asada, al pastor and birria. The birria didn't come with compote but they made a side of it for it for $1. It comes with the compote if you order the 3. Just something to note. The tacos were all delicious. I opted to using the salsa the chips came with since the green sauce wasn't that spicy but it all came out great. The compote was so delicious I decided to take the leftover home to mix it another day with some other food. Service was good overall. I ended up taking to go tacos to give to my family and our server had no issues with splitting the bill between the two orders.

We had a boat day in Miami and were craving tacos found this gem through Yelp and it did not disappoint! The tacos were flavorful and fresh, and the drinks were perfectly refreshing with freshly squeezed juices. The service was fast and friendly even with a group of seven, our food came out quickly. There's plenty of indoor seating and the atmosphere was super casual and welcoming. Definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

Really good tacos and margaritas! Came in for taco Tuesday and the Pollo, Carnitas, and Al Pastor tacos were $1.99 each. They all had good flavor and the green sauce they came with was really good. Carnitas taco was the favorite! Chips and salsa were complimentary. They have good flavor choices for the margaritas, they were $9.50 each and supposedly they have happy hour Wednesday-Friday. I highly recommend checking this taco Tuesday spot out! It wasn't too busy and the service was good. Very authentic vibes.

**Taco Tuesday $1.50 a piece all day.** Al pastor, carnitas, or pollo. The best was carnitas so juicy!!! Al pastor had 0 pineapple but still good! Chicken was ok a little dry. Tacos came with a spicy green sauce that was delicious!

They do not have military discount, but that's is not the reason for my 1 star review. While visiting Miami with a group of 4, how does it make sense to give a table of 4 people a SINGULAR salsa that small! When I ask for more she gave me 2 more. So someone had to share theirs. BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE! How in the world did they just select some of us to take gratuity. That makes no sense, so beware visitors 3 tacos and one drink will run you 20+ dollars and you may get a forced gratuity. The customer service didn't even feel hospitable and I'm Spanish my self so it's not like any of that demeanor was called for. Asada taco was dry, tripa tacos were not clean and taste grainy but the fish taco were actually really delicious and tender.

Asada Torta - minimal meat.... was basically an avocado sandwich with pico.
    Keri M.

Empanadas were frozen in the middle, chicken was dry, terribly overcooked and salty, and the Asada torta had a few pieces of meat. Horrible. Wish I could say something was good but the entire experience was trash.

Parking was a bit challenging due to the limited number of spaces, but once we walked inside, the experience more than made up for it. We were warmly greeted by Carolina, who also became our server. She was incredibly patient and took her time walking us through the menu, explaining each dish and how everything is prepared. Her dedication to customer satisfaction truly stood out, and we hope management recognizes what an asset she is. Carolina proudly shared that every item on the menu is made in‑house, and it absolutely shows. My wife ordered the Quesadilla de Pollo with a side of Arroz Mexicano and couldn't stop talking about the exceptional flavors. I chose the Tostada al Pastor, a small Tortilla Soup, and a side salad. Everything was delicious, but the Tortilla Soup was the star of the meal--a perfect example of why in‑house preparation matters. Since we're not from the area, we weren't sure where to go for lunch, and we truly lucked out choosing Don Maguey--and having Carolina as our server. Thank you, Carolina. When I looked 20 minutes after at my credit card statement read I had been charged $77 and change pending a potential tip on top of that, even with tip included it is still over approximately $7 what I signed off for. We called to determine the prices of each individual meal and "the manager" was stumbling to tell us the prices for everything. Even with the fake numbers that were given to us it still didn't add up correctly. I remember the prices for the 3 meals my family and I ordered and I remember what the check said. I let it be because maybe they need more than I do. As for the food, I'm born and raised on the border of Mexico and although I must say it does scream authenticity especially on appearance the meat is bland, and that "Mexican rice" is by far the worst tasting rice I've had. For a casual person that likes Mexican food you may like it, but if you know what you're tasting you will not. Also, they didn't have 4 different things on the menu available ultimately leading me to have to go with my 5th option. It is very expensive for what it is, and even more expensive when your waitress manipulates the system.

Mauricio was at the bar and we definitely missed being under his attention by not sitting there. Eliezer (the Venezuelan waiter from Mérida) took care of us in the dining room. Both are always very friendly and attentive. This time we decided to sit in the dining room because we were a group of three and had a lot to talk about. The place has 4 TVs and we were able to enjoy the France vs Spain match. We all ordered La Tropical Draft beer, a light, smooth, and very refreshing blonde. In total we had 16 beers . We shared nachos with grilled steak, which were very good (they pour the melted cheese right at the table). We also ordered tripa tacos well toasted (that's the technique) as we requested, and they came out excellent. Note: They have different promotions or offers depending on the day, not a regular happy hour variety, so it's good to be aware of that. The restaurant offers a good variety of 8 salsas: Sirloin, Chips, Guacamole, Verde, Vicente, Pastor, Chilanga, and Asada. Good atmosphere, pleasant service, and tasty food. We'll definitely keep coming back.

Before going, we called the restaurant to ask if they would be showing the World Cup games, and we were told they would be showing all of them. Based on that, we expected a good viewing experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. There aren't enough TVs, many of the views are obstructed, and we actually had to move to the bar just to see part of the game. Even then, the music was so loud that we couldn't hear the match at all. When we asked the manager about it, he told us that ownership's instructions were to play music instead of the game's audio. That was especially surprising considering this is a Mexican-owned restaurant and the match was a Mexico World Cup game. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. To be fair, the restaurant was only about half full, so this wasn't a situation where the staff was overwhelmed by a packed house or unusually heavy demand. I was there with two female friends. I ordered a martini while my friends simply asked for water. The bartender reacted as if asking for water was somehow an inconvenience. We weren't even served chips and salsa until we repeatedly waved down members of the staff and specifically requested them. The bartenders consistently ignored us. My friends waited nearly 20 minutes before anyone came back so they could order their martinis. We later ordered guacamole and the Leña skirt steak. The guacamole arrived promptly, but the steak never did. When we asked another bartender to check on it, he looked in the system and told us there was no food order entered at all. This was unbelievable because the original bartender had described the dish, asked how we wanted the steak cooked, and appeared to take the order. He simply never entered it. When we complained to the manager about the missing food, he told us the kitchen was already closed but that he would "make an exception" and have the steak prepared for us. That response really upset me because this wasn't us asking for special treatment--it was the restaurant trying to correct its own mistake. I told him to simply cancel the order. He then said not to worry because he wouldn't charge us for it, as if not charging for a meal would somehow make up for the experience we had just endured. I declined the offer, but he responded by saying he would bring it anyway and that if we didn't want it, we could just leave it there. To me, that response was even more dismissive and completely missed the point. Throughout the evening, the bartenders were inattentive, dismissive, and consistently rude. Their attitude completely overshadowed what had always been one of my favorite restaurants in Coconut Grove. By halftime, we had simply had enough. Instead of continuing what should have been a fun night, we decided to leave the restaurant and go home, where we watched the rest of the Mexico match in the comfort of my home. Sadly, that turned out to be the best part of the night. I'm writing this review because I know Koko is capable of much better. My previous visits have always been enjoyable, which made this experience even more disappointing. However, if you're planning to watch a World Cup match there, I would strongly recommend choosing another venue. While they may tell you they'll be showing the game, the viewing experience is poor, the game audio is replaced with loud music, and based on our visit, the service was, without question, the worst I've experienced there since the restaurant opened. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because Koko has always been one of my favorite restaurants, and I'd like to be able to recommend it again. Unfortunately, after this experience, I simply can't.

The server was phenomenal, and the food tasted great, though portions run a little small for the price. One thing that caught me off guard: most of the table ordered tacos and enchiladas, but when the plates arrived, the "tacos" were essentially flautas and the "enchiladas" were more like tacos (the photo shown is the enchiladas). Naming aside, both dishes were delicious. We were also celebrating a birthday, and the staff sang for her and brought out a complimentary dessert--hands down the best brownie dessert I've ever had. The drinks were good, the food came out hot, and the ambiance was wonderful, with friendly, kind staff throughout. What did we order? Chorizo Queso: Not your traditional dipping queso, but FULL of flavor and the chorizo was great, decent portion. The table loved this.
