I want to agree with the other reviewers. The decor is stunning--glass balloons suspended from the ceiling, unique metal sculptures in every room and nook and cranny, an outdoor seating area. The lunch specials are limited. I had the chicken tostada. It was presented nicely, but didn't really say "eat me". It was ok, but I used the very good salsa as a topping to jazz it up. It was a large serving for a lunch special. No sides with this dish. My partner had a combo plate. The refried beans were served in a cute little tortilla cup. I noticed that he piled on the salsa, too. Well, the truth is that the salsa is quite nice. Our server was doing a lot--seating guests, taking orders for drinks and food, as well as serving. She was pleasant, but clearly distracted. Yes, a three and a half or four star place for lunch. Food was adequate, not a disappointment, but not off the charts either. Not much competition for the server's attention. Maybe the evening atmosphere is livelier. And lunch specials are only $12. read more

The decor is beautiful... and that is where it ends .. unfortunately these were by far the driest enchiladas I've ever had, the sauce was basically dried / burnt on the tortilla - no extra sauce running on the sides , the beans lacked flavor , I don't know if it was a time of the day, but there was no music playing so it was Erie quiet as there was only 2 tables sat.... For the price a place like Carmelita's has this place beat by miles. Wish we had a better review, but this was what it was. read more

Ambiance - casual, eclectic with large Latin American sculptures inside and out. Large inside and pario seating. Dog friendly outside. Patio iron chairs are tight (no man spreading here) and loud when they are moved on concrete. A few heaters on the one side of the patio only. Servers - all friendly and competent Food - a little expensive, but we loved it. Her shredded beef tacos were good. My Fajita Pollo was awesome and enough for a 2nd meal. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I feel like I need to warn people before they spend too much money on not great food. You can get better quality for less. Like.. We had such a great experience this evening. Our family of four stopped in and everything was amazing--from the food to the service. The menu had plenty of delicious options for everyone, plus a kid-friendly section (with crayons to keep the little ones busy, which is always a win!). Great local Mexican restaurant with great food, service and tasty margaritas. We visit Catrina's Cantina 1-2 times a month and really enjoy the vibe. Martha, Adriana and crew are attentive, easy going and do their best to make sure we have everything we need. It's family friendly and a great place to go for a meal and relax awhile. read more

Pros: I thought the restaurant was lovely. My Sangria was excellent. Server was friendly. Cons: The chips tasted off as if they had been cooked in old oil. Somewhat dank flavor. The refried beans and the rice were flavorless. The chicken enchilada was okay but not memorable. Love the decor and ambience but the place could use some music and well, life. It was sooooooo quiet in there, even with our large group. The foundation for greatness is there, just need to build upon it. The drinks and food were wonderful, with exception of the guacamole appetizer. Squeeze bag guacamole is always less than appetizing. Service, for being such an empty place, was ok...just a bit on the slow side but the server and bartender were super friendly when they gave you their attention. If you're not in a hurry and looking for some place quiet with good food, this is the place for you. Really truly hope they breathe some life into the business operations though! Restaurant used to be called Cha Cha's and went there A few times with my mom Before she passed away...There were always coupons. Very good and great service and loved the decorations. Forgot all about this place Probably because of Covid. Went to movies the other day and we headed to Don Quixote's after only y to find it closed due to remodeling. My friend thought of this place...yes very well decorated inside still with Cha Chas decorations some pretty dusty if you look. Prices way to high...presentation good BUT absolutely no taste...37 for two people including tip no drinks for tasteless food...rather go to Rubios...also never came to check on us during meal. The first thing we noticed was there seemed to be only one waitress. For a minute we thought she was the bartender, too, but then the bartender came back; the waitress was just getting some drinks while the bartender was gone. We ordered and the food came in a reasonable time. There were 10 of us so, considering that, she was excellent in giving us accurate service. However, the mole sauce on my plate was stuck to the plate like it had been put into the microwave. The chicken was dry and kind of tough. None of us was happy with our meal. We usually go to El Tapatia in Citrus Heights but, because we were in Rocklin looking at Christmas lights, we decided to stay there. I ended up giving her a tip on top of what was on the receipt. My bad; I didn't look as we were all in a hurry to get out because they were closing. So she got $108 a $291 bill. A couple of days later when I realized there was already a 20% gratuity added to the bill, I decided not to complain because the waitress was very good and was "working her bottom off". She deserved it. But we will not go back because the food was tasteless and, while none of us left hungry, it wasn't the experience we were hoping for. read more

Great decor and great fajitas! The flour tortillas looked homemade and tasted great! The Pico di gallo was the best I have ever had and chose the black beans, they were flavored perfectly. Finally gave this place a try and as an entire family of 4 with 2 young children. This place is Incognito and a MUST EXPERIENCE. The quality in the food is excellent, our service was fantastic, the color and decorations in this place were vibrant and fun. My wife and I are from Texas where Hispanic food is considered "Tex-mex." Catrina's is the closest thing around to authentic style Tex mex food that we've experienced. I was sicken and was unable to eat it!!! One could think it may be bc they were busy; however, I ensure you there were Not a lot of customers there. We normally go to Casa Romas in Lincoln, but decided to give our local a try. Sad decision on our part. For our monies, Cantina's shall never get any of it, period! Chips and Salsa was very delicious, steak was very tender and the fries were crispy!! The rolled tacos were as expected but good. Overall great place for drinks and quiet enough for a conversation. By far, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. While the drinks arrived quickly, the margarita tasted like it was pure tequila--if that's your thing, more power to you, but it's definitely not ours. As for the food, we watched in disbelief as our order was microwaved and promptly served within two minutes. The smell was reminiscent of cleaning products, and unfortunately, the taste matched. I could barely stomach three bites of the crispy tacos before deciding it wasn't worth the risk. Now I find myself dealing with the aftermath, contemplating my life choices from the "throne." My receipt states I paid an even $62 amount which I like to do for accounting purposes and come to find out the restaurant ended up rounding UP the server's tip! Lunch menu is very limited. Overall prices seem high. The food was bland, some salt might help, or offering some sauces with the food. One server was not super friendly, another was super friendly. We just didn't get the warm fuzzy feeling, with the prices and lack of flavor, it just didn't make us want to come back. Decor is colorful, but perhaps a tad to much. But that really was the least of issues here. Dear owner, If you don't want to fast-track a bankruptcy, please replace your current chef (Tuesday afternoon) immediately! The chips, salsa, refried beans, taco (carnitas but I believe they served me shredded beef instead,) enchilada sauce - are absolutely, mind numbingly tasteless. I couldn't shake the salt shaker hard or fast enough to revive any semblance of Mexican flavor out of any of these items. The food was so bland, I thought I'd lost my sense of taste from Covid. Literally!! In all my years of dining in Mexican restaurants, this was absolutely the worst. Zero cumin - zero cilantro, even the tortilla chips were tasteless. I'm really sorry to post this review because whoever owns this restaurant knows a thing or two about amazing fine art. The decor is fantastic!!
