My husband and I had to pick up a few things in Loomis today and were pretty hungry. We stumbled across La Fogata on Yelp and decided to give it a try after reading the reviews. It did NOT disappoint! The food was delicious. My husband ordered fish tacos (pictured) and a marinated pork taco (consumed before I could get a picture) and had no complaints. I ordered a Carne Asada Super Burrito which was also so delicious. The staff were super kind and attentive. I pointed out to my husband that while there were many open tables, people were in and out for to go orders the entire time we were eating. It really speaks to how delicious their food is. If we ever find ourselves in Loomis again we both agreed we will be back! read more

While getting my car work done I stopped to grab a quick lunch and boy am I glad I did. The restaurant was busy and for good reason the food here is so good and authentic. To start off I ordered a piña fresca which blew my mind the drink tasted so fresh made and had just right amount of sweetness. As for the food the it was awesome I had the quesabirria tacos which tasted like the ones I would get on my mission trips to Mexico so authentic and delicious. Not the best Mexican food I've had, but for a small town spot it does the job just fine. Ceviche: Get Huge portion served in a giant goblet. Fresh, tangy, and loaded with shrimp and veggies. It was a lot to handle and we didn't even finish it. Burrito: Maybe? Massive size, definitely fills you up, but the flavor was just okay. Living in SoCal has me spoiled so this didn't quite compare. Came here with some friends and we had a great time! The Jamaica was super good and the chips and salsa hit the spot. They had a soccer game on the TV which gave it fun, family vibes. The service was great, our server was really friendly. He checked on us often, and made sure we had everything we needed. All of our food came out quick and everything tasted amazing. We met up with friends and stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner on a Sunday, so it was not crowded at all, but they had some takeout orders they were preparing. The atmosphere is festive and decorative. House music is playing in the background. Multiple tvs playing sports. The service was very friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Our friends ordered the... 2 Crispy Taco (with Carnitas / Fried Pork): Deep-fried shell tortilla filled with your choice of meat, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, and cheese. Our friend said, "It was good, but nothing special." At least his beer was cold! Steak Ranchero Plate (Sliced Steak): Steak grilled with jalapeños, onions, and tomatoes. My friend said, "Good heat to this dish, but the steak was a bit overcooked and well done. The beans and rice were really good." It did not look like they were shy at all with the jalapeños. My wife and I split the.. 1 Street Taco (Al Pastor / Marinated Pork): 4.5" corn tortilla filled with your choice of meat. Topped with hot salsa, mixed onions, and cilantro. I really couldn't taste the flavor in the Al Pastor as it was like ground meat, so it was a bit dry. Quesabirria Tacos (3): 3 tacos double tortillas dipped in consomme, grilled until crispy layered with melted cheese topped with birria/shredded beef onions and cilantro, tomatillo salsa. It came with complimentary 4 oz. Consomme'. My wife liked the cheesy quesabirria and the beefy consomme. Molcajete: Served boiling hot with whole beans, chorizo, steak, chicken, shrimp, cheese, avocado, and green onions. This dish was hot, but not bubbling hot like another customer that ordered the same dish and came out a few minutes after all our dishes came out. This was my first time ordering the Molcajete. This dish had some good heat to it. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't like spicy foods, so she only had a little bit. However, she drank most of my Agua Fresca Horchata drink to cool down the spiciness that was burning her mouth. I liked the medley of meats mixed together, but the sauce was ok. Best tacos I've had since I moved to Placer county. Got the Al Pastor, Carnitas, Carne Asada and Shredded Beef, all of them were off the charts! I don't think I've ever had tortillas that soft, they were literally melt in your mouth delicious, will definitely be back! read more

Tried a carnitas super burrito today, and was not impressed. True carnitas are deep fried in lard, which gives tons of flavor. It was more like cooked pulled pork, with hardly any flavor at all. Without the addition of Cholula it was very bland and lacking flavor. read more

They have a good burritos and plate specials. Unfortunately they don't open till 10am. The manufacturing businesses on Swetzer open early and have employees taking lunch at 9:30. Too bad they aren't open at 9:00 am in order to frequent them often. read more

Food was really good here. Little strip mall location. Server was really attentive and more than willing to help us out. They serve chips and salsa (salsa was really good btw, it was a pico de gallo, more thicker saucy style tho so it was good and chips were served warm). All four tacos were spectacular. Sauces on the seafood tacos were alright. Not flavorful but not seasoned enough. Overall a yummy experience. Went this last week for a super tongue burrito and a chili verde taco salad and I was given 1 small salsa for both. When got in the car my wife said only 1 small salsa. She walked back in there and asked for another one. The man at the counter told her that will be an extra charge. So 2 meals and 1 small salsa. She walked out and was furious. We attend that restaurant at least once a week for take out or dine in. Might not be going again. Food is good but the guy at the register is a real joy. Good luck that type of service. Came while in Loomis to go to High Hand Nursery. They give complimentary chips and salsa. Salsa was really good and fresh chips. Coctel de camaron came with a good amount of shrimp. Large serving and very delicious. Asada taco was on point. Shrimp taco came on a larger tortilla with cabbage and pickled onions. It had a little too much cabbage, but you can easily take some off. The shrimp were really good size, seasoned well and cooked perfectly. They put the sauce on the side for me. Chicken taquitos were pretty good. I asked for no cheese, otherwise it normally comes with queso sprinkled on top. Not pictured was my daughter's chicken quesadilla. They use the good cheese on it and the chicken was loaded and juicy. This review is based off of take out only. We were visiting friends and decided to get one of the family meals here. My husband went to pick it up and it was hot and ready to go. This was some of the best Mexican food I've had in awhile. There was a beef that was supposed to be carne asada but we called it a mystery but it was by far the best meat of the 3(for me at least). We were craving some good Mexican food on Valentine's Day and returned to Fogata's!! There weee 3-4 open tables which was great on such a busy Valentines night. People are consistently coming in and out for take out orders which is always a good sign!! The staff have always been attentive, quick to take our orders and to bring us food. No matter where we have sat while eating here, we have had adequate space to enjoy a private meal. We like sitting by the front window but because it was pretty busy, we sat in the back area and I enjoyed it. We have absolutely loved our meals every time we come!!! I was recommended the Al Pastor on my first visit and have gotten each time since then! So much flavor and great serving size that I can take someone!! The chips and salsa are some of our favorite. Based on reviews, I was expecting a complete home run. Came in for lunch and the place was packed. Love the fact that you have wait staff, however that is where they fell down. If the wait staff is not assigned to your table, forget it, they will walk by 15 times and not ask if you need water, more chips or anything. Once our waitress took our order, we could not get her attention. Finally the food, it was just ok. Salsa was good but not very hot. I ordered the Steak Ranchero and it was full of large cut tomatoes and bell peppers and the meat was small and tough. We go to a Mexican place in Orangevale where the service is off the charts. They have similar number of people waiting on customers, but the La Fogata team is not very well trained compared to this other place. I had the wet super burrito with Al Pastor and my wife had a combo of Al Pastor and Carnitas tacos. We received a warm greeting when we arrived and service was prompt and friendly. After the Folsom vs Del Oro freshman game, players and families met at La Fogata for a meal. Unfortunately, the place was closing as only half of the team had showed up. These amazing people kept the doors open and kept taking orders to allow this display of unity between football families to continue. They were all working feverishly to ensure they provided the best service they could although it was after hours and the place was completely full. My tall beer from Loomis Basin was ice cold and delicious, my quesobirria was absolutely delectable in that consome, and I have nothing but complete love and respect for this restaurant and their staff.
