The food was ridiculous salty , the manager and her employee refused to do anything about if I don't go back and drive 30 minutes at 8pm to prove that the food it's not edible. Great food but they have priced me out. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito and a single cheese enchilada with rice and beans with 2 sodas. The burrito was large, but no sides even though the menu said it came with rice and beans. The enchilada plate was a small portion. The salsa comes in a tiny dish. We have been happy customers at El Azteca since it was a single store front with corrugated metal decor. The last two times, something changed. Customer service, not the same bubbly friendly servers. Took a half hour to get our food. The food was good as usual. HOWEVER, maybe someone can help me understand how 1 item combination, a pork taco, with all beans, no rice, and 1 soda can cost $23 fricken dollars. Husband had a chili rellano placard and an ice tea. Total with a $7.00 tip, took our bill to $47.42. This is for 3 food items, rellano, taco and and 2 drinks. It's hard to find good authentic Mexican food in Roseville... but I definitely recommend this place. Especially if you like Menudo/Pazole and looking for Tacos de Cabeza, Langua or Buche. The mole is bomb as well. My fiancé is super picky on his Mexican food, coming from all the San Diego food options, but he loved the tacos here and said it was the best Pazole he's had since he's been living here (1.5yr). The micheladas are made with or without the Clamato, which I really appreciated that option because I actually prefer to go without the Clamato. The bar has a wide range of Tequila options and is my preferred seating area so you can just sit and order with the bartender. Otherwise you walk up to the counter and order your food, then find your seating and wait for it to come out. Chips and Salsa are served and the salsa is not only delicious but has a little kick. I think you can tell a lot about how the food is going to be, based on the salsa. Just my 2 cents. The ambiance is chill, open seating, plenty of space and they have a live Mariachi on Fridays. They charged us five addl dollars to use a credit/debit card and added a 20% tip which I adjusted. The service was slow with minimal people in the restaurant which isn't unusual. The food is good but the price has gotten so far out of normal folks price range that we will not ever be back! Close to $100 to share a meal is CRAZY and completely out if common folk price range! It has been probably least 5 years since the last time I was here. Met a friend for dinner on a Thursday night. I always thought they were on the pricier side compared to most taquerias and why I have avoided them. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. There is a self service drink station. As others have noted, there is an upcharge if you do not pay cash. I ordered the taco and burrito combo which was better than expected. It was hearty and must say they have the best spanish rice I ever had. It was light, fluffy, and flavorful. Chips and salsa was just okay. The inside has a nice ambience. A bottle of Coke is five dollars plus... A fountain soda is four dollars plus and the amount of food that you get for the price is an absolute joke... $20 for a tortilla with a half a scoop of beans, a half a scoop of rice a tablespoon if you're lucky of guacamole and a tablespoon of sour cream and maybe a tablespoon of pico de gallo... That whole thing if you added it up including a quarter cup of beans and a quarter cup of rice would not even cost five dollars... I get you have overhead but they've been in business for way over 20 years and it's absolute highway robbery... I would not recommend it but if you're wealthy, I would recommend it... I hate to write a bad review because I've been eating here for so long but it's just absolutely ridiculous on what they're charging for the quality of service and of the amount of food now... One other thing the chips and salsa used to be amazing. You would get a normal bowl of salsa now it literally holds not even a quarter cup and you have three people well it's gonna be gone in about four dips so I just think it's absolutely ludicrous. read more
