Really unimpressed. Tried to visit this establishment one hour before it closed and my party of 2 was turned away at the door because they were closing early that evening due to being slow. Was attempting to take my mother out for a quick drink on her birthday after the kids were down. Surprisingly there were still people in the bar enjoying drinks as we were turned away. Two words: AH-MAZING! This is not your run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant. This i is upscale deliciousness! The menu is unique and flavorful. Everything is so thoughtfully prepared. They've made a splend effort to stay natural while keeping incredible flavor. We dropped in for dinner on a whim, and found the atmosphere to be contemporary, modern and the perfect setting for a date night. Despite being a nice Mexican restaurant, there's a nice wine selection and to say the cocktails are uniquely crafted, is the understatement of the year. I'd love to share a 5 star review once in a while, but once again I can't. My wife and I went there today for lunch after reading an article in the N-L about "Catrins"s adds new twist to Mexican Food". Here's our opinion: Wife: Bean Tostada, Refried Beans and Rice. Good flavor, fresh garnish. She gave it 4 stars. Me: Pork Carnita's Chimichanga, Refried Beans and Rice. Rice and Beans fresh and flavorful. The pork carnitas were dry and flavorless and so tough I had to saw through it. The flour tortilla was still white and very gummy, it needed to be fried much longer to the point of browness. Couldn't tell when it was served because the condiments were covering it. 2 stars for me. The salsa was fresh, but those tortilla chips were way, way too thick and tasted of old canola oil. I asked for fresher chips and a spicier salsa. The chips were still too thick and the spicier salsa was very good mixed with the original serving of salsa. The service was good, as was the general cleanliness. The music was too loud, thus everyone there had to speak very loudly to be heard. It was very noisy the entire time we were there (11AM). A woman who sat behind us with a loud laugh, similar to a goat, I'm sure ruined the meals of everyone within 20 feet of her. We she and her friend finally left the decibels in the entire restaurant dropped significantly. By the way, no booths, just table seating. Cannot recommend if you've ever treated yourself to real, honest Mexican Cuisine before. $20.00 for two, for lunch. read more

The reviews were high on Catrina's so we checked it out. The margarita's were great but waiter was constantly pushing us to purchase more expensive ones. The salsa and queso were good but chips were not my favorite. The food was pretty bland. Maybe this is skinny Mexican food because there was nothing with the meat in the burrito or enchiladas.
