I'll start off with saying I absolutely love the food I've gotten here, both today and in the past. It's fresh and full of flavor. As usual I got the El Camaron bowl, it comes with a side of chips and salsa. It's a little on the pricy side, right under $20, but I usually justify that with how good it tastes. The wait staff are always quick to greet people as they walk in. They're not overly friendly, but they're very professional and courteous. The establishment appears clean and overall seems to be well run. My only problem is the wait time. I placed my order at 1:05, and the website said it could be up to a 30 minute wait, but they'd have it as soon as possible. I ended up getting my food at 1:38. I arrived to the restaurant about a quarter after, so I knew I'd be waiting awhile, but not that long. I ordered one bowl, nothing crazy. The restaurant had probably no more than 6 tables the entire time I waited. The majority of those tables had their food prior to my arrival. I truly don't really understand how it takes 30 minutes to prep this bowl. It's been similar experiences with wait time each time I've purchased food here. Again, the food is always extremely good and staff are pleasant, but the wait time (and somewhat the price) is starting to become a deterrent. read more

So, I had high hopes. I had heard a lot about Primas, good and bad, so I wanted to try it for myself. My waitstaff was great but it kind of went downhill from there. The food was cold and honestly kind of meh. The food was better than Taco Bell of course but that's not saying much. I expected a little more from what is advertised as a Mexican kitchen. Finally, I go out to eat for several reasons, not the least of which is the chance to get away from the drama at home. There seemed to be several employees either bickering or talking about other employees and guests. It's not professional nor is it necessary. We might be back if they change a lot about the restaurant but until then, there are plenty of other places in the area for good Mexican cuisine. read more

Placed a catering order with Primas. Previously, I've had great experience in doing so. Today, that was not the case. When my catering order arrived, I was missing quite a few items from my order, including 2 full tins of meat, as well as all the salsas with my order. I tried calling the delivery driver first to see if he left a box in his car, with no luck in reaching him. I then called Primas, and informed the gentleman I spoke to on the phone of my issues, who immediately told me I was wrong, that he was the manager, and packed my order himself, and essentially accused me of lying. I told him politely 3 times I tried calling the driver, but that I had 40 people at my house, and it was a significant challenge for me to be missing 2 full orders of meat, and have zero salsa for my food. He argued saying none of my food came with salsa, which by the description of the catering meals, clearly states their taco kits come with salsa. He was rather rude; but agreed to call DoorDash. After about an hour, he called me back to say they couldn't get a hold of the driver either, and he was going to see if he could the additional items sent, which he did. However by that time, roughly an hour and 45 minutes later, I had to make alternate arrangements for incremental food for my guests, and it was a waste. And no one wanted to eat Mexican food without salsa of any kind. While I appreciate the gesture of getting the food that was missing to me, the attitude, and assumption I was lying about missing items was not appreciated on a $400+ order of food. We won't be using Primas in the future for our parties unfortunately. read more

GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE AND DECENT PRICES!!!! Easy to access location, handicap parking, clean bathrooms and good lighting. Everybody starts out with their crispy chips and delicious salsa, but you got to try their queso blanco. They do have toppings you can add in but honestly we haven't tried them because it's delicious plain. The enchiladas are great but my two favorite are the chicken or the cheese. The enchilada sauce is not like any enchilada sauce I've ever tried. Full of flavor and by far the best. The rice is also full of flavor and delicious but the beans not my favorite. Good variety for kids, even if they don't like Mexican food. The service is superb, especially in the times we are living in. I have never had a problem with my food, wrong order or bad service. The servers take care of their tables without being too intruding, which I absolutely love. They keep your chips and drinks filled and are always courteous even when it's clear they are busy. Actually, the hosts are great as well. Each of the staff make you feel welcome! If you like a bar, they do have a bar off to the side of the restaurant and it is semi enclosed. It's quiet and not offensive to families eating, as I know some who wouldn't eat their because of their experience with some"bar scenes".... I'm a self proclaimed "iced tea snob". I know what I like and not many people can make it that way, lol. Primas has excellent iced tea. I highly recommend giving this place a try! read more

We normally enjoy this location. They did a great job during the worst of the pandemic with takeout. Tonight we chose to do takeout as we spent all day in the yard working. We ordered online and the text said it would be ready at 7:33. We got there at 7:23 and it was ready. Got it home and EVERYTHING was cool - or downright cold! Cold chips, cold tortillas, cold tamales, cold queso (yuk!) And cold quesadilla - which was also overcooked. Not only will we not be ordering online again, it will take time for us to get over this poor meal when friends suggest we go there to eat! read more

This place is awesome. The food is hot and very good with plenty to eat. We have dined there many times before and it's always been great. Tonight we had a server by the name of "Emma" and I can't say enough good things about her. She was pleasant, accommodating and just terrific. Arrived at 10:30am and was told they were still working on the order. 25 minutes later they bring it out. Get home and the food was barely warm and starting to get soggy. Honest review...we used to eat here often and the food was decent, but kinda bland. However, over the last few months, under what looks possibly like new management, the service is absolutely, positively HORRIBLE. Every visit we wait long periods at table. I usually have to hunt down manager for a refill on our drinks. All the things that shouldn't happen at a restaurant. I'm actually sad about this because it is a convenient location and we used to eat there regularly. Our most recent visit was a call in order, which I might add will be our last visit there. I apparently grabbed the wrong to-go order and the manager came running me down in the parking lot. He was screaming "that's not yours, unless your gonna pay for it!" I was utterly shocked. He grabbed bag aggressively from me and sat it back down. I was like "excuse me!" He then handed me my bag, which he could have done nicely in the first place but didn't. Then the gentleman behind me, gave him the to-go order which I had already handled and touched the bag, etc. It was poorly handled and so we will be visiting Senor Julian in Spfd for now on. This location is going to move at the beginning of April and be behind the new McDonald's across the HWY. our server was fast and friendly and our food was good. I had the chipotle chicken chimichanga and my husband had the signature burrito with brisket. For me, their salsa was almost too sweet and had no heat. For others, that is just how they like salsa so many people will probably like it. I thought the chips were too thin. If I can't scoop up parts of my food onto the chip without breaking the chip, the chip is too thin. The chimichanga was really good. In hindsight, I would have probably asked for some guacamole or lettuce on the side to break up the amount of cheese sauce on the plate. I would say that this location offers pretty standard Mexican food for the area and is a good option for a quick bite to eat. It is a little high compared to the El Charro down the street but I imagine Primas is more appealing to some people over El Charro. I would give it a 3.5 out of 5. read more

It was my friends first time here and we talked nothing but great things about it to him, unfortunately it wasn't the experiencing we've always had. We waited almost 25-30 minutes for our waitress just to come and tell us our order never got processed through, then waited another 10-15 minutes for our food to come out just for my friend's food to be the whole wrong order, then he proceeded to wait another 10 minutes just for our waitress to come back to the table to realize she put his food in wrong, all around bad experience! i will NEVER again recommend this restaurant. read more

The tortilla chips were nice and crisp but the salsa was like tomato sauce with very little flavor. We are not that picky but this was a big disappointment. Just ok. Nothing to get too excited about. The salsa tastes ok, but it has the consistency of V8 juice. Fajitas were good but plain. Could have used more seasoning. The onions and peppers weren't quite right... Rather than being cooked in a skillet, they appeared to come out of a warmer and placed on the skillet for looks. The guac had started to turn brown. Decided to try again since they moved from beside Ace Hardware across Hwy 65. Disappointing again. Food prices went up and quality went further down. Salsa was bland, steak was bland, typical Mexican restaurant where they just want to make some cash. The one that opened in their old location was more authentic and much better. Way overpriced (avg $12 for entrees) and bland food. Service was okay. So here's the scoop: The tortilla chips served before the meal were paper thin and not homemade. The salsa was thin as water with no chunks of vegetables or extra flavors like onion, cilantro, etc. The fish tacos were so flavorless. The fish was not seasoned at all. No crema or other sauce. The black beans were retried black beans with not a whole bean on the plate. The presentation was an issue. I was warned that the plate was so hot and not to touch it. Why would you let that out of the kitchen? It's a hazard and a danger not a benefit or appealing feature. Additionally, when you melt cheese or add liquids to flour tortillas, they get gummy and soggy. The ones for my tacos were by the time they had cooled enough to eat them. For the price and presentation, not to mention the empty cavernous atmosphere, it simply isn't worth it. I cannot recommend it. read more

The portions are great for the price but our only complaint is the salsa is very bland compared to the other two Prima's restaurants. I feel like it is only blended tomatoes. We were excited to see a new location and updated menu when we went to Primas. Restaurant and new location look nice. However it's almost too bright. There's so much light that it looks like a breakfast place. The overhead lighting could be turned down. We had a nice waitress, very friendly. Now to the food. It's just bland. Let's start with the salsa. The chips were good but It literally tasted like they poured a can of tomato sauce in a bowl and added a couple spices. No flavor. The fresh guacamole came out looking good. You could see the onion, tomato and cilantro and the avocado was perfect. But again no flavor. No spices. We had to add salt and pepper. My husband ordered the chicken bowl. Diced chicken breast and white cheese sauce over rice. Chicken was tough. I ordered Cali street taco with pork carnitas. The pork was dry and again no flavor! We will stick to La Paloma and Cesar's Old Mexico in Springfield when it comes to authentic Mexican. I gave three stars because there are so many other better Mexican restaurants to choose from in the area. read more

This used to be a favorite. Last couple of years it continues to go downhill. It started with poor service. Then, badly cooked food, including undercooked shrimp. After that, it became a combination of bad service, worse food, and the final straw is having to stand at the entrance waiting to be seated for many, many minutes. The last time, I opened and closed the door several times to activate the chime to let someone know we were there. I looked around, there were maybe 8-10 customers. Not busy at all, no one came to seat us... We turned and left after several minutes of waiting. Will not be back. Too bad. They had a good thing going. read more
