Jack, the owner, spent about 20 minutes explaining the benefits of better dog foods, things that I would read about five years later in places like the Wall Street Journal. Things like carbohydrates, fiber and quality protein were the topics. The same things that humans consider important when making dietary decisions. My 12 year old and my 9 year old did two three mile walks last week. My vet said about my 9 year old: "that's the most muscular pug I've even seen". Now, she'd say it is due to her workouts, but the food has made a very big difference in having two healthy dogs. My dogs LOVE this place (unless they get their nails cut...but they forgive pretty quickly) and they settle right in like they are family. There is a huge variety of food, treats and accessories. They support local businesses and pet causes, and will merchandise new things. In some cases I've needed help carrying things to my car, and Jack is happy to help. Food for Pets has rewards programs. The paper coupons are a bonus!

I do wish, however, that the owners would finally invest in some kind of point of service shopping software and inventory system. Hello, this is 2011 (almost 2012) and your employees have to read through an old torn price list and it seems they try to work off of memory to see what they have in stock and when it will be re-ordered. This is so inefficient and such a huge time-waster for the employees and the customer. They also have one phone line, so if one of the employees is on the phone, you have to wait until they are off so the cashier can run your credit card. Flinstones much???? I would think that with the amount of money that is charged for the food and pet toys, they could afford these basic tools to run a successful business. Lastly, please ditch those paper money coupons and use a rewards system like PetSmart, PetCo and WoofMeow that can be kept on a keychain. I have those damn paper money coupons all over my car and my kitchen drawer, I just never remember to gather them all together to bring to the store with me. Time to step it up!

Their selection was fabulous and if you are a dog person there is a giant room in the back you can't see right away! I am so happy and it's clean and my new favorite spot! Once at the counter the girls were helpful, asked if i was a member and signed me right up. They smuggled my puppy, asked if he could have treats, etc!

At check out we stood there for a couple minutes while the girls behind the counter were having a conversation. Once they finished only thing asked was if we have a membership. We did not and one wasn't offered to us. No thank you or have a good day when we left. They couldn't be bothered. Heard great things about this place but the customer service was off.

I am so glad I found this place!…read more Pawsitive Pet Nutrition recently moved from their Candia Road location close to South Willow Street. They stock only healthy pet food (no Friskies here). The shop is spacious and clean. Gail, the owner is extremely knowledgeable. Great selection and the prices are a bit lower than other similar pet food stores. Big plus--there are two freezers for those of us who have our pets on raw food...she carries several including Bravo and Primal. Plenty of parking and easy to find.

I called back the following week, "oops, I didn't check on that", again didn't call me back. I stopped in the store, now on my third attempt, they still never bothered to check. Never heard from them. If you can't or don't want to do it, just say so. But don't ignore customers like that. I bought it online, Sitstay.com, great prices.

My husband and I have thought about boarding our cat, Agnes, but I was always afraid to because I…read morewas afraid that no one else would treat her the way we do. One day at our vet he asked if they boarded cats, they gave us a pamphlet that was just dropped off and said The Whisker Haven had just opened up. We immediately called and asked to see the place. Trina was so great and understood why I would be nervous. Her place is strictly for cats so it is a nice and relaxing place for them. She showed us around and we even met her two cats that were there. Trina put so much thought and care into her place and it can be seen with all the little details I would never have thought of. I was so happy that we booked four days with her for the July 4th holiday. She asked if it was OK if she texted us updates, and of course, we were happy to get them! While we were away we received pictures and updates. Our Agnes was doing great and looked so happy and comfortable. When we showed up to pick her up, she didn't want to leave! She was walking around and enjoying the large cat tree that is near her large window in the back. She was so happy and enjoyed her time there. Trina also brushed her, which we were able to tell because she felt so nice and well taken care of. Surprisingly, we put her on the floor and she walked back into her "cat condo", ate, and went to sleep in the bed! This is truly the best place you could bring your cat. Trina cares for animals and is a true cat lover. She has thought of everything possible to make your cat's time there enjoyable. She even will give your cat their medication for a small fee, this was great because our cat needs a pill twice a day. We have already booked future dates because we feel she will be booked up once the word gets out! We highly recommended bringing your cat here. It is like an affordable spa vacation for your cat. I am so excited to have found Trina and The Whisker Haven, and can't wait to bring Bolt back for future stays. She has put so much thought and detail into the design of her business and the rooms for each cat to stay in - huge windows, tons of climbing and places to sit, and toys abound.
