Heard from folks that this place had a great salad bar and I was really craving a salad. Decided to stop in for lunch on my way to the airport. I was by myself and got sat in the bar area which had only the bartender to wait on all the tables, and he did get quite a few of them. Must have been trying to wait on 8+ tables at a time which meant that service was a bit slower than desired. Nice part is he was really hustling, so can't fault him at all for it. I was torn between the prime rib entree with a salad bar addition, and just the salad bar. I eventually settled for just the salad bar and I am glad that I did. There was a pretty good selection of toppings and a good selection of dressings. Good news is they have bacon bits, which I am a glutton for. I loaded up my plate to overflowing with a salad with lots of fixings and headed back to my table. Veggies were decently fresh, taste was good overall. Bartender kept refilling my drink when it got low. Decent experience for me, but I can't comment on any of the meat/entrees. There was a couple of soup options included, but I didn't try them either. I will say that the bread was fairly lackluster, but that just means that I didn't fill up on it. There are cheaper options available, but not with the selection. Excellent experience! I ordered prime rib which was juicy with not too much fat. The salad bar was excellent with a large selection. Everything appeared fresh and surprisingly they have gloves to use with the utensils. Our service and server were great! We made a reservation here over the phone and spoke with the manager. She took our reservation and even confirmed the time and today's date (12-11-2023). Our entire group got dressed up and we paid for transportation to the restaurant. As we we're approaching, she comes out and tells us that the restaurant is closed for repairs. Shrimp scampi is pretty darn good. Overall, I think they are slightly overpriced. For a meal with just a salad bar, it was $12.95. With a piece of chicken breast it is $18.95. I think it's overpriced. But it is fresh. I'll give them that. read more

I thought about going to the salad bar but opted for the lunch deal instead. I had catfish and a baked potato for lunch. The fish was fine but the butter for the potato was horrible. So this made eating the bread and butter so so as well. I'm not sure what butter they provide but it needs to be changed out. Yes, people are trying to eat healthier but bad butter is bad no matter how much you try to make it. So this review will just get 3 stars since I have eatern here before. Our waiter was super nice and attentive but not overbearing. We were not dressed fancy at all either. We had debated making the drive out to Cattleman's in Fabens but chose the path of convenience. Unfortunate. So wish we had opted for the drive. Everyone in our party who did NOT order beef raved about their dish. Apparently the pork chops, fried shrimp, rotisserie chicken, and salmon are all awesome. It's a steak house. So...Where's the beef? Prime rib was cooked to a perfect medium rare. It was tough and exceptionally flavorless. I actually enjoyed dining here with my family. My mother in law told us that this place had a pretty good salad bar and they really did. Tons of options, nothing fancy but lots of options none the less. Michael was a wonderful server, very friendly, and checked back often to see how things were and make sure beverages were filled. It was nice to walk in and have the same great service from the time we walked in to the time we left. The ladies at the hosteSs desk were super nice, even played a bit with my daughter while we were waiting for our table. The place does look a bit dated possible the same it's always been since opening. Could use a little updating but for the most part no complaints. This is a shame as we had prime rib on our previous visit and it was excellent. I'll start by saying they do close a little early. We tried coming after a movie a week prior, just after 9pm and they were already closed. But we tried again, and I'm so glad we did! The atmosphere is a more quiet, old western feel than a lot of the "trendy" steak houses, but I think that's nice. Especially since the service is great and the food is exceptional! My husband and I started with the salad bar- the very delicious salad bar! There are so many choices of fresh salad toppings, and dressings, as well as pre-made salads (obviously house made, as the flavors are fresh and unique), also 2 house made soups. The salad bar alone is enough to draw me back! (Sorry my pics are a little blurry on those) They brought out a huge, delicious loaf of homemade bread. It was so light and fluffy, and everything that homemade bread should be! So good!!! I ordered the bacon wrapped filet mignon, cooked medium. It was perfect with the degree of doneness. Every bite was melt in your mouth!! I had the sweet potato for the side, which was topped with a cinnamon butter, that in my opinion made it a little too sweet, so next time I think I'll just request plain butter. I also asked for the mushrooms on the side, and they brought out an entire pan full of mushrooms! They were cooked in butterry goodness. My husband had the largest ribeye with the whiskey-pepper glaze upgrade. Also cooked to a true medium. The upgrade was definitely worth it- very tasty! We finished off with the pecan pie. Its HUGE, and everything in it is great...I know, I tried it all The steak I had was perfect! I had the baked sweet potato too with cinnamon butter. It was good. The bread they serve is reminiscent of ciabatta, and was also very good! This bread would be great sopping up stews, soups, and chili! Service was spot on, timely and friendly. By far Best Salad Bar in El Paso, the steaks are good but I do know a few other steak houses in the area which steaks are tastier for the same price. Great location and atmosphere. Caring costumer service but I do wish that they would quicker take your used plates off the table. The salad bar consists of a fresh and wide variety of salads, salad items, dressings, a couple of soup varieties and dessert like items such as fruit, mousse and pudding. Ambiance is cozy and service is good. After that, things go downhill. I got the prime rib - meh. There was no deep beefy flavor that I expect from a steakhouse. My partner's sirloin was okay - mainly because it was covered in a flavored sauce. The salad bar is from the 1980's - standard lettuce, tomato, couple of veggies, croutons, etc... I love this place ! Total cozy vibes inside. Reminded us a lot of being out in Ruidoso New Mexico. I love that they had disposable gloves at the salad bar for you to use. They also have hand sanitizer and they require the mask at the salad bar. The menu has a nice variety of options ranging from chicken to seafood steak salad and soups. The salad bar is a wonderful experience. The soups are delicious and to die for. If you get a chance try the green chili corn chowder the corn is cooked to perfection. The salad bar also has pastas, desserts, and plenty of toppings for a wonderful salad creation.
