It's been years since I've been to this place, more than 10 years for sure! Back then the buffet cost about 9-11 dollars, now it's 16-17 depending on what you order. You can choose the salad buffet with a drink and no protein and my option was the combo meal, it's the buffet with a side of chicken, and a drink. If you don't want the buffet you can just order a specialty salad or sandwiches. The salad buffet starts off with you choosing of iceberg lettuce, what looked like romaine lettuce with sliced almonds, and spinach. I got the iceberg and spinach and there were tons of toppings to add from: pieces of hard boiled egg, peas, cubed ham, garbanzos, red onion, jalapeños, croutons, bacon bits, olives, sunflower seeds, varieties of salad dressings, and unhealthy carb filled pastas. At the center is your soup station with 4 different kinds of soups, pizzas, baked potatoes, muffins or maybe cornbread, and a taco bar. The only kind of unhealthy thing I had was the "fire roasted chicken" soup. Well, after reading the ingredients and tasting the soup, it was basically chicken pozole without the spicy chile. Like seriously? They just Anglicized the name of chicken pozole to fire roasted chicken soup, give me a break (Insert my eye roll) and it was good! The grilled chicken breast I had was okay, it was good but too dry! It was overcooked! The waiter with hot biceps was nice and made sure our drinks were full. If you are looking for a fresh, quick lunch, this is the place. My husband and I came here on Friday, and we were not disappointed. I've lunched here several times before. I picked lettuce, cheese, eggs, olives, beets, and blue cheese dressing. YUMMY!! The food is fresh, the chowder was excellent. Wish they had more chocolate pudding, but that's OK. My daughter got food poisoning eating the salad here. I don't like salad and ate other items but she told me the dressing wasn't cold, the salad was soggy and croutons were stale. I did not care for the soup or bread at all. I've had better Campbell's soups from a can. Low quality ingredients. This buffet salad restaurant has recently been updated and remodeled. There is more seating and the interior is more eye appealing. The buffet options are still the same: salad, soup, bread, taco bar and potato bar. There was also pizza. Everything was fresh especially the greens and fruit. There are plenty of options with dressings, veggies and whatever suits your fancy on your salad. You will leave full. The gingerbread wasn't as fresh as I remember, there are other bread options. The only issues can be seen with the soups which aren't full with stuff if you know what I mean. The side bar has tacos, apple turn over, yams, pizza, and ice cream with the fixings. we ate there today and as we walked in there was no one at the front to receive or seat us..waiting a few minutes till someone in the back yelled" ill be right with you".....when the server finally came took our payment and asked if I wanted to add tip on the bill?...I said no, and she seemed a bit upset about it..anways we got seated and then we went for our food...today soup special was chicken noodle and I didn't see any just other soups that seemed to have been there awhile, kinda dry...I asked if they had the soup of the day and server replied that they would make and it would take 15 mins. Just found this place last week. Super good, fresh food and the hot items arent too bad. Love the fact they have non-meat based soups. The pasta options are good and the dressing while store bought arent bad. Soup could be hotter but it was good. It seems like my experience here was pretty different from everyone elses'. The salads themselves are mediocre, yes. The dressings are kind of gross (although honestly I like the Caesar dressing, but they're definitely Sysco stuff). It's the other stuff that I like. Well, some of it. And I like it enough that it makes up for the rest. The restaurant is CLEAN, first off, which seems to be a feat in this town. We've only gotten super friendly and helpful service (even on refills). So that's 2 stars right there- environment and service. The food I like: the soup, the breads, and the potatoes. Yeah, the breads are from mixes (that they sell by the register). The gingerbread and the breadsticks still rock it for me. Especially the gingerbread. Man I love gingerbread! The potatoes are always perfectly cooked, and they don't use cream cheese instead of sour cream, which is something I will NEVER understand (Golden Corral, I'm looking at you). The soups...here's where I am shocked. The soups are GOOD at least the ones I've had, and they appear to be homemade. I've had the mama mia chicken or whatever it is, and the beef vegetable. They're really good. It shocks me every time. And if I decide to abuse my body I have the macaroni and cheese (tastes like Stouffer's frozen) and some nachos with creepy liquified cheese and "taco meat". Yum. So third star for the food- yeah. Fourth star for would I go back- yup. So there you go. Somehow an all-you-can-eat CHAIN salad bar restaurant in El Paso got me to give them 4 stars. I'm kind of embarrassed but I will still go eat here again. Pizza ... ehhh!, Nacho melted cheese that was watered down so much that even I thought it was some kind of soup. So I have to admit when I first came here I was no impressed, I mean it's a salad bar and I had bad eating habits. but I gave it another chance and I'm in love with it. it's one of my favorite places to eat. i love their salads and their vinaigrette dressings are delicious. their soups are really good too even though it's vegan meat. I have always loved Souper Salad, but no longer at this location and hope others are not the same. Ranch dressing had NO flavor, baked potato was unwashed and hard, not fully cooked. I gave the place a second chance, but there was NO CHANGE. Will not be returning unless someone can confirm these issues have been fixed. Zero stars would be the preferable rating for this awful place! How do you screw up soups and salads? It's done by not being able to decide if this is a Mexican food place or a Souper Salad! What they did have was empty in many of the containers and we waited for a very long time for them to be refilled. The chicken breasts we ordered tasted like chicken patties in a convenience store sandwich. I had to go to the kitchen area for drinks!!
