If you're looking for a steak, this is a great place to visit if you find yourself in Roswell. Great salad bar for any vegetarian/vegan guests. The salad bar was plentiful with two different soups and had a range of tubs constantly stocked by the staff. I went on a limb and tried the blackened catfish with rice. The blackened catfish was prepared adequately but the rice was inexcusable, surprisingly over and under cooked to the point that I was worried I would crack a tooth eating it. I hate to leave a less than stellar review but if you cannot cook rice then it makes me worry about the rest of the cooking staff's expertise. read more

I visited the Cattle Baron in Roswell on August 25th 2024 and my goodness I enjoyed the dinner was seated immediately by a very nice young lady and introduced to Terry ( the Gentleman waiter) Terry looks somewhat like an older version of 60s hippy and he turned out to be a great conversationalist and a fine server. I had been told the establishment was somewhat overpriced but I found it to be quite reasonable and well worth the money. I had the salad bar which was a meal in itself along with the chicken breast which was moist and flavorful. There don't seem to be many establishments in Roswell which are even close to being as good as the Cattle Barron. Kind of throwback steakhouse which is very comfortable with excellent service and quality food. What else can you ask for? read more

I enjoyed a 10 ounce pepper steak, a Long Island ice tea, and a insane visit to their salad bar. I would say their salad bar was 15 feet long by 5 and loaded with a variety for anyone's taste. I even considered cancelling the stead and spending the dinner at the salad bar. My total mean was $43 and well worth the prince. The lovely hostess was pleasantly attentive, and the waitress did not disappear after tacking my order and was great at making sure I had everything I needed. And you better bring your appetite. I could compare it to Black Angus or the Peppermill, but this place is a lot friendlier. read more

They were at capacity and said I could sit outside which I happily did. My waitress was Beck and she was very sweet but nervous energy it seemed. I got the evening special and everything was very tasty but when Beck asked how my steak was I was honest that it was a little over cooked but still had great flavor. OMG...We were driving through Roswell New Mexico, When I decided I had to have a good meal. We had been driving for 2 days. I spotted a law enforcement officer in a truck had a stop light. My husband called up beside him and I asked him what restaurant he would recommend. He did not even hesitate he said his preference was the cattle Baron. He was so right. The staff here is very friendly and very helpful. I ordered a ribbon steak with potato and Salad bar. When you order any meal there the salad bar is only $4.99. They literally have everything on their salabar. They even have The Choice of 2 soups. I got the chicken noodle soup and it was divine. It tasted homemade. None of the food was oversalted. Everything was wonderful. The service was Impeccable. I forgot to tell the law enforcement officer thank you. So if he reads this I hope he knows how thankful I was for his guidance. read more

We have only dined twice for more than the salad bar. The salad bar is always a great dining choice, not to mention that it is the only one in town. The entrees are always fresh and well-stocked. We were staying in the Fairfield hotel next to Cattle Baron, so walked over to have an early dinner on a Thursday evening. We hadn't been to a place with a salad bar in awhile, and Cattle Baron's is a good one. It's double sided and includes a couple of soup choices as well as fruits and pudding. The salad bar is included with most entrees, but costs about $5 with a sandwich or $10 on its own. If you love soup and salad, you can get a decent meal here for $10. We ordered steakhouse chicken and chicken fried steak. I chose the salad bar, while my husband asked for a caesar salad. His salad never came, and by the time we saw our waitress, he no longer wanted the salad. We were not offered a discount. While the food was good, the bill was rather high for what we got. Went to Cattle Baron for an early lunch during my visit to Roswell two days ago, and was not disappointed. Nyah, my waitress, was attentive and helpful! Super sweet, but not too overbearing. A good balance of "check on your customers, but let them enjoy their meal in peace, too". The...*ahem*...."gentleman" who brought my meal to me, though, was anything but polite! He dropped my food off, said here you go, and when I asked for ranch dressing (please?), he didn't even pause while he continued to turn around and walk away while saying "it's at the salad bar". I just kinda stared at the back of his head as he walked away with such audacity. Thanks for nothing! But Nyah must have heard my request, because she showed up a few moments later with a little bowl of ranch. She's the best. My steak was prepared just how I asked, the mashed potatoes may have spent a little bit too much time under the heat lamp, as they were a tad dry, but the steak fries I got, too, (yep, all the starches! Judge me if you must...) were perfectly salty and good. As difficult as it was for me to chew certain foods (I had just had my braces adjusted the day before - I know, I know, judge me if you must ), everything I ordered was flavorful and soft enough to manage well enough. Only thing I struggled with was the bread, but again, that was my own fault, and no fault of the restaurant or my waitress - it was perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, I made it work! I really liked this restaurant. I found it from Yelp and was sold when I saw they had a salad bar. I had that as my main entree. It had many dressings and a variety of toppings, however not stiff I would personally have in my salad. I did have the "croutons," red onions and cheese as well as 3 of the dressings: ranch, blue cheese and Chile ranch. There were also pasta salads and soup and such but I did not try them. I did have the desserts. There was 2 flavors of jello, ambrosia, bread pudding, banana pudding, and whipped cream. Son has ribs and sweet potato fries. No complaints there. Hub had the peppered steak with loaded baked potato. I tried the steak and it was really well cooked and tender. We also had the potato skins and fried ice cream. Potato skins were great. Both the skins and steak came with parmesan cheese which was different but tasty. Fried ice cream was as most are, not fried. Minus one star because with all the food we ordered not one plate was cleared off our table the entire time we were there. Including when the desert was brought out. This was my first visit there. I was very impressed with the salad bar and my steak was perfectly cooked.

TL;DR- Sort of an eh feeling establishment as far as cleanliness goes, careless wait staff but decent enough food. I ordered a "French Dip" roast beef sandwich and fries. It was a good sandwich. Enjoyable enough after a long day on the road. Wasn't too impressed with the service though. They were pretty empty and I thought the food, though good, took a bit long to come out. Also, our server was very clearly sick or had recently been sick. Coughing all over the place and wiping his nose all over everything. He jotted most of our orders down wrong or just failed to take note of the customizations we wanted on our plates. My sandwich was missing the Swiss cheese add-on and another member of our party asked for a sweet potato instead of French fries but she of course received fries. I had an Alien Amber as well. Can't really knock the restaurant too much for someone else's product but the Alien Amber was essentially a flatter Shiner beer if you're familiar.
