Absolutely one of the worst athletic clubs I have ever been to. I got a membership a few years ago for my birthday. This gym is horrendous. The General manager is truly a heartless, soul-less woman who hates life. Very rude. Now onto the gym itself. More than half the cardio machines either do not work or they have very poor maintenance. The basketball court is always so dirty. Dirt, grit, and grime is always a common sight to see on the court. The rims & backboard rusted out & broken. The pool is always freezing and also has sand & leaves in it? Very poop management, maintenance, and all the other little things. This place is a joke. I do not recommend in the slightest read more

I have a billing dispute that has gone on since March of 2015. Trying to cancel your membership is almost impossible. The accounting and management department lack follow up and don't help at all. The club was inconvenient and dirty. Nothing has been updated in years and the machines are broken. The kids club is always closed. Caughlin club decided to turn my disputed account over to collections and they want to take me to court over $202! The club is desperate for money and clients. This is an overpriced tennis club that even the neighborhood rejects. read more

We've been members of the Caughlin Athletic Club for several years and are quite happy with our experience. The club features several well run tennis programs, excellent tennis courts, and a nice cardio theater and free weight area. There is also a heated pool, hot tub, sauna, and an indoor basketball court. They also offer tennis lessons and various exercise classes and have nice little cafe. Weekly social events are also held, although we don't usually go to those. I knocked off one star because it seems to take them a long time to repair certain fitness equipment when someone breaks it, but other than that I really can't complain about the place. read more

I go mainly for convenience, but I do like that every elliptical and treadmill has it's own TV and I can change the channel. There have been several times I've gone that either the TV, sound, or machine itself isn't working for several different machines before I find one that works. The pool is great in the summer, can you can enjoy a cool brew outside at their snack bar! read more

It is so unfortunate we do not have a neighborhood club we can be proud of. The tennis and yoga instructors are amazing, but it begins and ends there. The front desk team and management are disrespectful, rude, and incompetent. We are hopeful for the day good management takes over and the club can live up to the rest of Caughlin ranch. read more

Back in March i got a cancer diagnosis...have been kick boxing and working out for a good many years...i decided to take a sabbatical from the kb and find another way to stay active....the athletic club is near my house so one day we dropped in and the fellow working the desk....a very nice guy...told me we could do a 30 day membership with no obligation...a trail run....it sounded perfect...the charge was reasonable so my husband and i signed up...we both attended quite a few classes ...all of the instructors were excellent....5 stars for them...now for the rest.. i like the place ...it could be great ...the facility looks mostly nice ..the equipment up to date but there is a general feeling of neglect and disorganization in the air...from the moment you walk up the first thing seen .....is the office with the most unprofessional curtains for a high class facility....dilapidated furniture.....and kind of shabby around the pool....every time we came nobody at the front desk knew who we were...and with a little digging they would find our info...id cards were promised several times but nothing came of it..the entire month was that way...after the 30 days i thought somebody would call us and urge us to join...or ask how we liked it....nothing....crickets...was a totally odd experience.. in a way i am glad it worked liked that for soon the chemo put gym joining on hold anyway... read more

This gym does not offer much as far as state-of-the art equipment. Classes are also limited and there is very little done in the way of consistent family-activities. Customer service is awful. Marlene (the general manager) is unfriendly and does nothing to even consider if her staff could be more customer oriented. When I voiced my complaint regarding her staff and a billing issue, she made a snarky comment "sounds like we just don't do anything right." Additionally, when purchasing my membership, the staff mislead me and made it sound like my son could use the gym, but in actuality, he is not allowed due to his age. I wish I could give less than 1 star. This is the worst gym I have ever belonged to, that cares little about their members and does nothing to look at if they could be doing something to improve the gym and the experience of their members. Don't join...if you have a billing issue...they won't be nice and I don't think the management cares about its members. read more

This gym is one of the worst gyms I have ever been to. I have a gym membership at three different gyms and this gym is at the bottom. The showers are dirty. Most of the employees are rude. The other half are very great employees. I have had a membership for years at this gym but I have canceled it. It is OVER PRICED for members and guests. I should not have to pay 10 or 20 dollars to bring a guest. They are very disorganized. Sometimes I bring a guest it's either 5, 10, or 20 dollars. I am very disappointed in this gym considering it is located in one of Reno's classy communities. This gym really disappoints me. If you want a good clean gym go to Anytime Fitness at the top of caughlin club. They are half the price and every time I am there they are cleaning the machines. read more

Gym is ok, incredibly hot during the summer and just ok equipment. Classes suck if you like classes, anytime they get a good teacher in there they seem to run them out - no clue if that is management or what. And, while they make it super user friendly to sign up not as much can be said to cancel your membership. All-in-all, it is overpriced for what you get. And whatever you do, don't eat the snack bar food. Totally terrible, overpriced and cooked by teenagers who haven't even been taught microwave 101. Definitely do not eat cooked food, stick to protein bars and such. read more

Caughlin Club is a typical athletic facility located in an upscale suburban neighborhood. That's what gives it the one star. Outdoor amenities include tennis courts and a pool/Jacuzzi area. I have never played on the tennis courts so I can't really speak for them. They seem fine, though. The pool is a bit chilly, even when heated. However, considering the deplorable public pool situation in Reno/Sparks, it's basically a beggars-can't-be-choosers scenario. Also, heating an outdoor pool in Reno would be a costly endeavor. Basically, it's nothing to complain about. Nor is it anything to write home about either. The rest of the club is decent. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done. Raquetball and basketball courts are fine. Weight equipment is fine. Really, it's all fine. The only reason it gets a one star from me are the employees. Most of them act like you are a bothering them if you ask a question or have an inquiry. Some of them are ok, but most of them seem to be completely annoyed that you are disrupting their personal space. Having said that, even annoyed employees are not a total deal breaker if the location is good and everything else is fine. The deal breaker for me was the membership manager, M. She would be better served working at Guantanamo where her callous character and unpleasant disposition could be useful to the DOD in dealing with the 'enemy'. It is truly mind boggling that this woman is in a service industry. Especially beware of bait and switch membership contract shenanigans. You'd get more transparency from a transient grifter. Basically, all I can say is buyer beware on this one. read more

By far the WORST customer service my husband & I have experienced!! If you like to be talked to terribly then this is your gym! The general mngr is awful, she must sell a great membership to the caughlin community only to dog them later! BEWARE even the owners Craig & Brett also owners of Tanemera do not care how she treats their paying clients so dont waste time with them take it to social media where it counts most these days!! The ONLY thing this place has going for it is the Kids Club,& tennis! Don't waste your $$$, there are plenty of better gyms who hire managers that actually don't lack social skills! ,) read more

I used to be a member there but found I really only used the membership for the pool during the warmer months. Enquired about a "summer-only" pool membership, but they do not offer that. I don't use any of the other features there, so it would be WAY too expensive to get a family membership we would only use for 4 months. Please consider a summer pool membership for people like us! I know it is heated in the winter too, but I have no interest in swimming when it's cold, unfortunately. read more

I have been a member for over 10 years. This is a great place with friendly people, staff and management in a great neighborhood. Excellent facilities with Pool, gym, basketball court and lit tennis courts. You can find an open tennis court just about any time. read more

This is a great athletic club in a nice part of town. The club has a sizable cardio theater to go with an ample weight room, heated pool, hot tub, steam room, and tennis courts. There is also a nice cafe and an excellent tennis shop, which offers great deals on rackets and other gear. Regular classes are offered for free and members get reduced rates on many Pendola fitness classes. There are also a lot of activities available for families and adults, which are little to no cost for members. read more

I joined this gym because it seemed to have a nice blend of activities for the family. The pool has been great and the snack bar is a nice addition. Where the rating really falls is in the gym. The weight room is in sad shape and poorly maintained. Aside from the ancient equipment, lack of weights and stations, the clientele apparently has no idea how to clean up after themselves. I've spoken with the staff multiple times about it, but I walked out tonight and won't be back. read more

The Caughlin Club is an outstanding facility as well as family center. The facilites are always clean and organized. The staff is outstanding and all have a great sense of guest service and interaction. The club has everything needed from personal trainers to the kids club. Our trainers are some of the best around. And from Pendola Training to a relaxing massage you can find just what you need. The Caughlin Club has 7 great tennis courts, raquetball court, basketball court, an outstanding pool, steam room, hot tub, and is located in a beautifully landscaped area. The club even has a cafe located right near the pool where they serve everything kids and adults can enjoy. All the food is healthy and never fried in grease. Fresh vegtables, fruits, and for the adults a well stocked bar as well as an assortment of red and white wines. The club hosts family events and wine dinners every month. This club is honestly the whole package. A one stop shop. Excellence at its best. read more

Caughlin Club is clean and there are lots of machines, equipment, and classes. Do not expect the business office to help you if you are unhappy for any reason. And do not purchase the personal trainer packages. The trainers DO NOT listen to you - they think that we should all achieve the same goals with the same fitness routines. If you are young and in great shape then I recommend joining Caughlin Club. What can you lose? If you actually need some guidance on attaining physical fitness, then don't go to Caughlin Club. Agree with other posters - AVOID this place at all costs! I had two months left on my membership contract which would have cost me $140 total and cancelled due to pregnancy and not able to work out without getting sick in March of 2014. Cancelled in writing as contract requested, even paid for a month that I didn't use as courtesy, gave back access key card and never thought any more about it. Over a year later - I got collection letters for over $700!!! They just kept charging my account with no statements mailed, no contact, I let collection service know I did everything by the book, they refused my explanation and stated they would report it to my credit, I said go ahead I will dispute it - they never did. Another year passed and I am now getting threatened with being taken to court and being served at my place of work!!! Bring it - I'm contesting them all the way!!! I will post to let you know how this ends...If I were Caughlin Ranch HOA, I would make them change their name - I wouldn't want to be at all associated with such a slimy place. It's a pity a place of business threatens their former clients with lawsuits and collections. read more

The club was okay at first. After a while we saw that it was not being up kept as much. The number one reason we used the gym was because of the kidz club. The last time we went there was six months after our one year contract started. My husband dropped our son off at the kidz club, after an hour I went to get him. They told me he had gone on a field trip and was not there. Come to find out he was in a room "resting" for three hours! The staff said he had gotten up and played, but not one could tell me what he had played. they could tell me he had crackers and rest time! which is what my son had told me. Then they had the nerve to get upset at me for demanding an explanation. HORRID! if I wanted my five year old locked up resting for three hours as a form of day care I could find it a lot cheaper at a druggies house! I could not believe trained professionals would put a kid in a corner resting for three hours and tell the parent he was not there! They had forgotten about him because the other kids that attended the pre school were not there! For half the price we use Sports West that have classes, a fun area, and a pool that kids can participate in. the gym is cleaner, and the staff is nicer rather than rude kids.the snack bar is open for more than a few hours a day, the pool is indoor, and as of now they have never forgotten they had my son! read more
