Woow what an experience and what an amazing service! I drove about 1 hr to get here (made reservations before coming) and found a lot of parking space. The gentleman at the entrance welcoming customers (unfortunately didn't catch his name) was very welcoming and friendly. I loved the dome dining (the highlight for me) as it offered a safe and comfortable experience. Angie was our waitress/server and she was amazing. She is super sweet and checks up to ensure everything is going well. I tried the pistachio Dijon salmon and the calamari. I loved the touch of sweetness in the salmon. I got it with pilaf rice and asparagus, which was a great pairing. The sauce that came with the calamari was the best and the calamari was delicious. read more

My wife and I decided to try a different place. I found Cause & Effect on line and thought we would try it. We walked in approx. 6pm on a Friday and the restaurant was basically empty, there was no one at the tables and 2 people sitting on the bar. We were talking to each other wondering why it was so empty on a Friday evening, it was a little concerning. We were seated at our table right away, as we were walking through the dining room I noticed how badly worn most of the seats were. Our server came over right away, she was very pleasant, and took our drink orders right away, then she came back and took our food orders in a timely manner. While we were waiting for our food i noticed the all glass lenses for the lamps were very dirty and dusty. Our food arrived quickly, we both ordered a smash burger combo and fries, We both took a bite of our burgers, and were schocked how salty it was. it tasted like someone emptied the bottled on our burgers. My wife complained to the server, she offered replace the burgers. when the new burgers arrived they were better, still a little on the salty side but better. We were drawn here from the nice cocktail and unique dishes on menu. We had the baby nachos, big Mac tacos, sweet chili Thai wings and the baked garlic shrimp. Baby nacho is perfect for sharing. It has a little bit of everything in it such as Nachos, waffle fries(my fav),taters and this other nacho shape chip(texture is similiar to taco Bell's cinnamon twists). Even the baby nacho is pretty large so be aware of that before considering the daddy nacho(the large version) The Big Mac taco is the way to go if you like Big Macs. It comes in three and taste just like McDonald's but better. The flavour of it is bolder and the meat/bun/sauce ratio is spot on. The wings are cooked right and not overly seasoned with Thai sauce. The baked garlic shrimp was delicious. The size of shrimp were large and when having it with the toast dipped in the sauce it's a beautiful thing. Enjoyed the visit here and would definitely drop by again the next time I'm in Hamilton. Patio looks great and would love to dine out there when whether permits. read more

Came to Cause & Effect for their patio during early September on a Friday night. It was a little chilly so inside was packed but the patio only had one or two tables filled. The service we received was amazing. Our server was approachable and answered questions about the menu. She dropped by every so often to check up on us and was prompt when we asked for the bill. We ordered the Nacho Baby which is a one-foot long platter filled with cheese, nachos, waffle fries - served with salsa (?) and sour cream. It was filling and comforting but not worth the price point. Their signature smoking drink was kind of a let down. I got the Gummy Bear Martini, which was cute but tasted very medicinal. The mojito was solid but also pricey. Very average place up the mountain. read more

I got mislead into coming here. I searched up "oysters open late near me" and they pop up, it was open late, some nice lookin' oysters did show up as the first picture and many pictures of the photos when you search a place up on google. So I decided to go, when I got there I looked through the menu and realized they didn't have them, asked the waiter to double check and she said they got discontinued a while ago and that it's a common thing people have been doing. I wish they were more urgent on updating their Google page as I was not happy about driving 20+ minutes for a specific thing that they ended up not having. Very disappointed about that. I did end up getting their Thai chicken bites and they were pretty good. Although it would've tasted better if I didn't come for something they didn't have. :/ read more

This place had a lot of hype and long lines so naturally I was intrigued. First issue we had was the noise level. The only thing exceptional about this place was how loud they think it is appropriate to play music. We stopped talking after a while because it was simply not possible to hear anything. I immediately assumed service wouldn't be an issue as the restaurant was maybe 1/4 full yet there was probably 10 servers working not including the bar staff. Well you know what they say about assuming... Again I was wrong apparently it matter how much staff you have it takes a little over 10 minutes for a server to come take your drink order, another 8 for those drinks to arrive and another 12 for the server to come back and take your food order. Wow. It was painful. We did consider leaving but wanted to give the food a shot. Let me tell you the food is the only reason this place has any stars. If it weren't for the very unique and tasty Hot Dog platter we had (with tater tots) this place would have got 0 stars. It was pretty good however the Hot Dog I had cake with mini Pierogies in it, when I bit in I looked at the Pierogie and it definitely was not your standard potato Pierogie but filled with meat, when I asked the server what kind of Pierogie it was they couldn't identify it. She asked the kitchen and still no answer as to the mystery meat. I don't like when a restaurant can't even tell me what is in the food they are serving. It tasted fine but I would still have liked to know what it was. Anyway on this one I wouldn't buy the hype. Save your time and money. read more

Cause&Effect is amazing. It was my first time dining here and i was blown away. I will say it is on the pricier side but it was definitely worth it. I had the poke bowl as my main and the ingredients tasted so fresh. I also had the funnel cake fries for dessert and all i can say is WOW. I'm not a huge dessert person but they blew me away. They were definitely the star of the show. The staff were also lovely and incredibly kind. I would recommend this place to anyone and will 100% be back here myself. I really did not enjoy myself at this restaurant. The food was ok. Not many items on the menu. There were about ten servers but yet the service was extremely slow. No one checked up on our meal or seen if we needed drink refills. The servers seamed to have a bit of attitude as well. It wasn't very enjoyable. We had the hot dogs they were decent but a little light on the toppings. For a chilli dog there really wasn't much chilli on it at all. I would say this is more of a drinking establishment than a restaurant so if your in the mood for drinks and moody servers this is the place for you. read more

We tried to get in here on a couple of occasions however the wait was always too long. On the Tuesday after a long weekend I thought we could give it a chance. On this occasion the place was almost empty and we were seated right away. There were lots of staff everywhere. Some were congregating in group of chatter. There were some cleaning tables. There seemed to be staff everywhere. We sat there for fifteen minutes. While we waited we reviewed the very small and expensive menu. We made our selections and continued to wait. No one took our drink order. No one even spoke to us. Then we noticed a young couple sit two tables over. A waitress immediately brought them water and started taking their drinks order! We got up and left. On our way out, a nice young lady wished us a nice evening. We took our business elsewhere. read more

Cool place with lots of activity - but the kitchen needs loads of work. Attended with a group of 7 people on Friday night. Waitress was very nice but it takes forever for drinks to make it from the bar to the table- and we are talking beer. Then as the food comes- it came one plate at a time- there was no way you could be polite and wait for everyone to have food before you start- it literally took 5 mins. From first plate to the seventh. Burgers were good- chicken was over cooked but my friend said his steak was very good. Overall- there are much better places in Hamilton! read more

I give this place a 1 star because there is no option for a 0 star. We arrived and were greeted by an aggressive man who referred us to someone else who sat us in the back corner of the patio...... and we waited for 9 minutes before we left. As we watched other "servers" chatting up their tables of men, we sat there waiting for someone to come. (Perhaps this is the part where i say we were a group of 4 women coming from the ti cats game) I have worked in the industry for years, and would be embarrassed to work for a place like this. read more

Ok to start I'm not one to run home and write a review about a restaurant ... but this place is not very good, the floors are stupid slippery, food is terrible.... (tater tots) nuff said... the patio seats are terrible for women that wear shorts or a skirt, they leave a checker marks on the back of your legs, water drips from the pipes into your food, and the kitchen staff stand in front of the door smoking and sitting on the ground .... all together it wasn't all it was hyped up about ... decent concept but seems like it caters to only 19year olds read more

As soon as I walked in, I was unimpressed! The waitresses were scantily clad! I thought this was a restaurant??!! Thought I had stepped into a hooters. It's in a nice area in Hamilton, near the movie theatre. Families could go there for dinner. I would not take them based on the way the waitresses are dressed. Very inappropriate and so unnecessary in this day and age. They don't need to see all that! My husband and I were on date night. Not what I want to see at a restaurant on date night. The food and portions were mediocre. We order the entrée tuna salad and the nacho to share as our meal. The nacho's weren't as big as we though especially for the price. They tasted fine although not a lot of topping and it came with baby sides of salsa & sour cream. The tuna salad was not entrée size at all! It came in 4 small baby dishes. Maybe I read that one wrong but I was pretty sure it was an entrée. The drinks were great. We enjoyed those the most. Not sure if I would go back. Probably not just on the way the waitresses were dressed. When I go out I expect good & friendly service, good food/good helpings, good atmosphere. Also keep in mind that the tip comes from the women also and a decent person bases their tip on the things I mentioned above, not on how little you are wearing and how much skin you are showing. And your waitresses were all scantily clad women. Hire someone else. Change things up a bit. Especially change the uniform for your waitresses/waiters!!! read more
