I have an indifferent opinion to Peter M.'s review, this is a very independent hole in the wall…read morediner, offering one lady servicing all the tables in the restaurant. (Peter M you're a great person- I just don't agree with you =) ) To be very frank many breakfast places are overrun by chain restaurants and Toasters is one of the few locations that are non-franchised with pretty affordable options. For $6 you can get two eggs, toast (rye, brown or white with jam and butter) and homemade hash. Add $1.50 and you have meat added on the breakfast. Let me just remind you this is pandemic rates! And looking at Peter M.'S review on price from 6 years ago- it hasn't moved to much! Even when egg princes have moved from $2/dozen to $4-5/dozen. I stopped in for a meeting and often passed this place but never visited. It's situated at the end of Eagle, just after it changes from Pinebush. The humble diner is situated next to gas station. The parking lot is beaten with faded paint lines and a old fashion sign tells you it's a diner. When you enter, you walk right into the middle of the restaurant where the one server can see you and seat you immediately. What's nice is that the place has about a dozen of tables, a little snug for trollers and walkers but workable. It's just one server for ALL the tables and she was scurrying through. When I arrived 3min late for my meeting, I could see my client waving me in the window- I did not need to go through a whole pack of "security guard " waitresses to get to my table- it's a townie type of vibe. The interior is dated with tables that are functional. You can see the paint slapped on the edge of the black paint, likely to cover the cute messages teenagers left over the years. The chairs are old fashion but not restrictive to your size- you could be plus size and still get your bum into the seats. The portion for two eggs, toast, hash and three pieces of sausage for $7.50 was the same size as the $12 grand slam at Denny's. So it's gigantic. So if you're a little eater, $6 is plenty. What I like is if you ask for something to take away, the server is immediate to substitute it to not rob you of an item. During my dine- I was asked asked how my meal was while coffee was topped off for the other people at the table, and it was a quick hurry in and out as the server navigated around the strollers from the next table, the cute boyfriend and girlfriend and the young at heart friends sitting nearby. I arrived at 9am, bill was paid at 10am, we still meeting chatted right until 10:30am. I'm pretty sure if you had 30min it was possible to be in and out. Truly a hidden gem and for anyone who wants some small time vibe I will definitely return. I used to be a regular at the Fifties but somehow they seem to be some busy, loud and hiked their prices. This place is quant and I can get a nice meeting in, chat about life and the big plans to make it through 2023. Check this place out if you want small time vibes and more. It echos a lovely breakfast place in st. Jacobs but with better prices and fantastic service.

It tasted ok and the toppings were fresh. The fries are a reasonably comparable to McDonald shoe string fries. The lot is actually pretty difficult to get into. But if a toss up between coming here or a big chain fast food location. If you want to support local for the same/similar kind of food, this is the place.

I immediately added it to my bookmarks. Last summer, we met up in Cambridge at a local restaurant. I passed by this Fast Eddie's. My head turned. I then talked about it with my friend. She said that I had to visit it. I was too stuffed after lunch to even think about getting dinner from there. I never forgot about it. Recently, I have been enjoying driving over to the Waterloo region. It's nice during this lockdown to drive along highway 401 and not get stuck in traffic. I was at the Cambridge OnRoute rest stop and felt like grabbing a bite to eat. I didn't feel like Burger King. Fast Eddie's came to mind. Yay! I drove over there, which is perhaps a five-minute drive from the rest stop. Double that time if you don't have a lead foot. I was about the turn right to pull into the parking lot, but a car decided to position itself in the middle of what would have been for him to exit and me to enter. Ugh! On a happier note, I drove around the block and spotted a Hakka restaurant. I added yet another bookmark. I finally pulled into the parking lot. You have the option of hitting the walk-up window to place your order (so cool!) or going through the drive-thru. I did the latter. There were perhaps two cars ahead of me. There was a lot to look at on the menu. What should I get? I went with the double burger works. I made it a combo with fries and a Diet Pepsi. I looked at the milkshakes and thought about ordering it, but I wasn't feeling it. Next time! My combo was just under $9. That's pretty good. Debit cards are preferred, although it does accept any tap method. The man at the window opened it halfway and brought out the machine. I paid with my debit card. Easy peasy! Moments later, I got my drink and food. I thanked him. He wasn't friendly. He wasn't mean. It almost felt like he wanted to get through his shift without getting COVID-19. I drove down the street to the parking lot with HomeSense. I had been there last summer and knew that it would be the perfect place to chow down in my car. It was! I normally don't enjoy ordering fries as my side. There are exceptions. I had a single fry and the salt on it felt like it was dancing with my tastebuds. The fries are delicious here. They are crispy and taste so good hot out of the fryer. I had the whole thing and I now crave kicking them up a notch. The place has beef and pickle fries. It also has crazy fries that looks like there's melted cheese and other items, such as bacon. I want the bacon version. Yes, yes, yes! I had my double burger works. I'm so glad that I got it. It had two beef patties that are thinner than I had expected, but the flavour was amazing. I felt like I was eating a salad with protein in a bun. I needed it considering how I had inhaled my fries. The lettuce, onions, pickles, and tomatoes were so fresh. This burger had ketchup and mustard. I normally don't like mustard as a burger condiment, but I ate it all without scraping it off. I am a fan. I am now eyeing the steak cheese burger. I set goals that I know that I can achieve. My Diet Pepsi washed everything down. It wasn't watered down. It was just the way it should be. I will get a milkshake next time. I want the strawberry shortcake wild shake, but double chocolate sounds yummy, too. I do set milkshake goals, too. I will be back. There's so much that I want. Cheap eats. Delicious food. Happy me! (51)
