We found this on accident last year coming back from the beach and have returned twice since then. Open seating area and you can see the kitchen area. Definitely where the locals go to drink coffee, have breakfast and shoot the shit. Waitresses have always been attentive and nice, the food is average diner experience, with no surprises. Didn't get a chance to eat the food because we were totally ignored by the wait staff that were doing " busy work". I tried catching their eye, waving, but to no avail. This place is usually great for breakfast but this is not a good way to start the day. read more

Loved this hometown diner vibe for breakfast. Really fresh & delicious- I had a spinach & Swiss cheese omelette, grits, & a great biscuit. We also had rye toast (love when a restaurant has rye bread as an option!) & eggs over hard. Coffee was great & frequent refills. Service was excellent! Only wish they served real butter & I'd have preferred my spinach just wilted & not cooked - but everything else was just great! Good portions and fair prices. This is a great old school diner/cafe. From the red vinyl chair coverings to being able to see the cooks. The wait staff are excellent. The food was hot and really good. I had the omelette and my wife had the short stack of pancakes. Both great. We have been here a number of times and have never been disappointed. We were seated immediately. Tables were distanced. Employees were wearing masks. This diner is in a strip center near DMV. Old diner style chairs. Our table wasn't even. It took a while for our server to take our order. We ordered omelets. I ordered the Philly cheese steak omelet and my husband ordered the Carolina omelet featuring sausage and cheese. We ordered cheese on our hashbrowns. The Philly omelet had little flavor even after adding salt. And neither hashbrown had cheese. We were charged for cheese so we told the server. She made sure we knew it was the kitchen's fault, yep got it, just don't want to pay for it. Had to ask for tea refill even though glasses were empty. I wouldn't go back. read more

Tip: This is near the DMV, in the plaza. The address on Yelp is correct but the map pin/directions are wrong. We've lived here for a few years and didn't even know this little gem existed. Showed up around 3pm on a Friday afternoon and ordered Garlic Knots and a Sicilian style pizza. The knots are great, a perfect balance of crunchy and soft. The pizza is huge. Sicilian is thick crust, pan pizza style, but the dough was cooked well all the way through and was overall pretty delicious. We can't wait to go back for the normal pizza, and breakfast! read more

I enjoyed working with everyone. I had to leave my job there to find my brother who was strung out on drugs. I have him in rehab and now I am enjoying time with old friends and my kids. The whole staff was very nice toe and we had fun. But one thing I learned I was not in the real south . No one cooks homemade country style steak .chicken and dumplings.beef stew.ribs....like we do here in VA. I Shallotte is not country food and Myrtle beach is drug infested. There are a number of places to go to get Breakfast or Lunch in Shallotte. But tucked away next to the DMV is this Diamond in the rough. My wife and I have been coming here for going on three years and we have never had a spotty meal. The service is as good as it gets, the food is fresh and it's really good. Coming here is like walking into the Bar at Cheer's. We enter and it's "Edddd" "Peggy". Hats off to "Wild Child", Sharon, Cindy, Whitney, Jackie, and the cook staff. Also I can not forget the owner (Pat) this guy is the salt of the earth and he can not do enough for you. If you want a good meal, at a fair price, look no further. read more

Pizza is the best anywhere around. We had been driving to Wilmington until Homestyle added pizza ovens and a master pizza maker. The crust is thin and consistently perfect. They use fresh mozzarella that stretches off the crust with every bite. All the toppings are high quality and very fresh. Maybe the best sauce I've ever had. I really can't stress how great their food is. One drawback is no beer. You can bring your own but that's it. The pizza is only available on Thurs, Friday ,Saturday and Sunday for now. Homestyle is only a few miles off Hwy 17 so if you're heading between Myrtle Beach and Wilmington it's well worth stopping in for a slice. read more
