My first visit left me with mixed feelings. Easiest way to describe it, is a Chipotle style of Cava. Choose your poison -- bowl, salad, platter? Same idea, choose your style, add your proteins, your toppings, and boom $8.50 + tax I went with the rice bowl, added chicken, roasted red pepper hummus, crazy feta and tzaziki, all the toppings except slaw and banana peppers. The flavors were just a crazy blend of.. crazy in my bowl. I couldn't really taste the individual flavors, it was just a burst of way too much going on in my mouth. I personally love the spicy harissa, the crazy feta and everything individually. If I were to go back, I might try it as a platter so I can taste each individually. I love all the healthy options here and that you can meet any diet- gluten free, vegan, paleo, etc. The fresh drinks are a bonus- I had the honey basil Green Tea and it was delicious. There are even healthy soda options (there's still sugar, but much better than regular conventional soda). I always have a great experience at Cava. I have it while visiting on the Kentlands or take it to go. Today I brought it back from Maryland to Pittsburgh since we do not have Cava or anything like it in Pittsburgh. The food is fresh and has great combinations of ingredients. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. The service is always excellent , but today was especially excellent. The person that helped me today,Yosellian, added a container of a feta and olive combination for me to try when I got home. And added extra salad dressing on the side because I was traveling today. I cannot say enough how wonderful they are , and I wish they were located in Pittsburgh as well. read more

Want something fast, delicious, AND healthy? Look no further! CAVA is a great spot for a casual lunch/dinner with it's bold flavors and fresh ingredients. I like this CAVA the best because, as many other reviews mentioned, there are plenty of parking spaces, the portions are quite generous, and the line moves pretty quickly. I am in love with their falafels! So tender on the inside and super satisfying. My go-to hummus/spreads are: roasted red pepper, eggplant and red pepper, and tzatziki, but I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of the others! I basically get ALL the toppings and the lemon herb tahini. I always get pita crisps to add a crunchy element! How amazing! My dad, sis, and I always go out for lunch, and we chose cava this time! How fantastic! We agreed we liked it better than chipotle cuz the portion is bigger, quality was better, variety was wider, meat quality was better, freshness of ingredients was higher, and customer service was faster. However, price was $3 extra, per bowl. But we didn't mind much cuz it was literally lunch and dinner. Although eating the food was fun, the process of going thru the line and choosing the food wasn't. Don't get me wrong, customer service wasn't bad or anything. But, we just didn't know the food. Although there were menus to look at, I wish like chipotle they had boards at the top of our viewing area, so we could weigh our options and choose the optimum meal for us. So I disagree that this is a $ pricepoint restaurant...but it is worth the money. This is the original Cava location that has lead to a few other restaurants and the fast casual version (which I don't like) here in the DMV. Ultimately, this is the best Mediterranean food until you get up to Baltimore (Zaytinya is also fantastic but more of a fine dining version). Ranging from perfectly cooked and seasoned meats (lamb chops!), to fantastic meze items (saganaki flambé!), to really everything on the menu...it is hard to not enjoy a meal here. The only downside is that it is a hard open space, so it gets loud. Also, the space is tight so you are basically eating with all of your neighbors. I would suggest getting a group together, ordering a bunch of food to share, and enjoying a nice meal at Cava! read more

This location is inside the Kentlands. It's usually a busy area but this location is next to the closed Kmart, so it's really a big empty parking lot. As you walk in, it's a very bright small restaurant with a long walk way to lead you into the ordering line. The first food station is a choice of brown rice/ white rice or veggies, and bowl or pita. The next station is if you want lentils (extra charge). They have choices of lamb, chicken, beef or veggies. I usually order the white rice bowl with beef meatballs and an extra order of side veggies. Delicious grilled vegetables! Next station is what dips you want to add and you get 3 choices. I typically get.... harissa, hummus and tzaziki. The last station is to add sauces, I ask them to squirt yogurt dill all over! You can also add pita chips with harissa, if you're feeling hungry! They have craft soda along with house made juices...such as watermelon or strawberry, which I believe are seasonal. All this for $25 lunch! read more

I'm a bit of a fight fan, and I've always leaned towards rooting for the underdog. I will try to keep the focus of this review on CAVA, but at this point it's going to be VERY difficult not comparing CAVA to Mezeh. For good reason, CAVA has become a bit of a juggernaut in throughout the DC Metro area over the past few years. In a world of food line style restaurants, Chipotle was king. CAVA came along and has been an absolute breath of fresh air! I absolutely LOVE the idea of what CAVA brings to the table, however I just continue to be disappointed by the lack of punch in the flavor of their ingredients. Crazy Feta & Harissa are the biggest reasons I still come here at all, but nothing else really gets me excited. This particular location provides quick, efficient service. Like to pick up good food for lunch for our work office and only comes here!!! They have the app which makes picking up right before the rush hour starts very easy and quick! Food is prepared by numbers and comes out correct always thus far which is rare these days with so many orders. There is a variety of greens to pick from and the rice portion is normal, about half what chipotle gives you. The grilled chicken is always fresh and juicy. The toppings and add on's have a variety of items to pick and the sauces are amazing!!!! Definitely get the pita chips if you can!! Usually give people who work for food retail a break because they go through so many customers a day. But the woman and man who were serving today (11:43 am, 9/21/2022) I'm calling them out specifically because the woman was rude when I asked for something extra, then the man was talking to another woman- who was also an employee, saying something about the chicken, and they laughed while making my order which made the man distracted and put pita crisps instead of what I asked for. Didn't even apologize or try to replace what I ordered, just walked away. If somebody had apologized or tried to even replace it I would have appreciated the gesture and just took this bowl instead because I did not want them to do more work. Delicious, large portions of build-your-own Mediterranean food. The options are limitless, with several different salad and rice bases, sauces, proteins and toppings. I've been to the CAVA in DC as well as at Montgomery Mall, and I'm not sure if I just got lucky here but I feel like they've always been most generous with portions at this location. There is plenty of indoor seating and you can pretty much always find a spot to sit at, since most patrons get their food to go. At lunch rush and even dinner the line can get pretty long, but it moves quickly and it wraps inside the store so I've never seen anyone have to wait outside. They offer typical fountain sodas as well as interesting juices. Overall, one of my favorite places to grab a tasty and filling meal for ~10 dollars. With so many options, you never run out of interesting flavors in your bowl. read more

When my boss brought me here for lunch a few weeks ago, he described it as "a Mediterranean Chipotle" and I think that's accurate on many levels. Not only are they set up like Chipotle, but they offer the same average fare. I've now been here twice - each time ordering the falafel and a greens & grains bowl with mixed greens and brown rice. With the lack of true vegetarian restaurants in this area, CAVA was an exciting find at first, but really I think the food is only okay. There are lots of options, true. And you can pile on the veggies and the sauces. If you're looking for fast comfort food that's slightly more upscale than what you'd get at the drive through, this is probably your place. For less than $10, you can be full of grease and salt. I certainly wouldn't consider it "healthy", (as their website says!) The ingredients are relatively fresh and the serving size is pretty big. But, like I said, once you start adding things to your greens & brown rice, it's all fat and sodium. Okay for every once in a while, but definitely not one of my favorites. read more

Concept: Chipotle meets Mediterranean fare. There are Cavas all over Maryland now but this remains my favorite due to the fast & friendly service, as well as the generous portions. They definitely do not skimp here like they do at the other locations (*cough* Tysons Corner). I honestly don't think you could go wrong with any combination here and I have seen several people load on ALL the toppings for a truly ginormous bowl. The "Supergreens" here are delicious and comes with a mini pita. I also love the eggplant dip, quinoa topping, and sriracha yogurt dressing. Depending on my mood, I'll mix the protein up but I have always found their chicken to be well-seasoned and tender. The falafel is delicious too! My favorite juice of all time is the Kale-Apple-Pineapple juice that they have here. The Watermelon Mint comes at a close second but honestly - they are all delicious. The best part is that refills are free! Note that this location also has beer/IPAs on tap. Eating here makes me feel stuffed but also extremely healthy at the same time. Any cava I've gone to never fails me. This time I tried the shredded beef or pork.... I think it was beef. It was marinated in tomatoes and onions. It was so yummy. This is a great place to grab a quick lunch or dinner. It's practically a Mediterranean Chipotle. You first start with a choice of base (pita, salad, rice bowl), then 3 types of dips and/or spreads (you can double or triple up on a dip or spread), choose a protein, and finally add as many toppings as you want. I always get greens and grains as my base. However, I wouldn't recommend getting the pickled onions as a topping, because it's extremely pickle-y. I made that mistake and it made my meal taste funny. No matter what combination you decide to make, your meal will be very flavorful. Overall, I would recommend this place! The line can get pretty long during lunch and dinner time, so be prepared to wait for a while during those times. read more

How can you NOT love Cava Grill?! Mediterranean food, YESSSS! This particular location is usually the one I go to. Parking is never a problem since it's located in a huge lot. It's super clean, all the ingredients are always fresh, and everyone is friendly! I always get the bowl with half supergreens and brown rice. All of their dips and dressings are amazing and flavorful, so you can't go wrong with any of them. It's definitely not cheap, but compared to the portion size, I think it's worth it. Plus, it's healthy so you don't need to feel too guilty afterwards :). I always purchase my food using the LevelUp app on my phone. I highly recommend this app!! It keeps track of how much you've spent, plus you can earn free credit you can use towards your next meal once you reach a certain goal. Who doesn't like Cava Mezze! This place is phenomenal of course! Expect a long line around lunch time; but they have it completely under control. The line moves fast. It set up like a chipotle style restaurant; not like the sit down place in Rockville. Cava Mezze Grill is like the kid brother of Cava Mezze -- not quite as good looking or charming but trying really, really hard to still impress you. The first thing that impressed me were the variety of 'healthy' drinks available to try and refill at the fountain. Having kale-pineapple blended beverages and other similar items went a long way in motivating me to bear the long lunch lines that develop here on a weekday. It's something I'd really love to see done at other places, but again, Cava Mezze is always running a few laps ahead of its competition. Despite the type of congestion that the beltway area is known for, the workers at CMG do a great job of keeping traffic moving quickly along. After less than ten minutes, I was being tended to by a friendly creator who I implored to just throw something together for a first timer to try. My bowl had some lamb meatballs, rice, veggies, tzatziki sauce and plenty of pita and although I looked at it and thought, 'I'll be done with you shortly," it still got the best of me as I struggled to finish the entire bowl. It wasn't quite Cava Mezze level in its awesomeness but rarely can a little brother fill his big brother's shoes. This is the fast food lunch version of CM so just because CM grew up to become a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon doesn't mean that Cava Mezze Grill being an accountant at a big five firm makes it a disappointment.
