So my girlfriend and I visited this location as first timers to potbelly and as soon as we got there you could sense a air of hostility after we decided what sandwiches we wanted we went up to what seemed like somebody who is new working there and my girlfriend described what saying she she would like since she didn't know the sandwiches which then the person replied multigrain or French bread which she said multi grain and then proceeded to ask if they had wheat instead the worker laughed at her and said that multigrain was wheat. After we had both ordered our sandwiches we went to go get our toppings from a worker named Jose and he showed my girlfriend her sandwiches and asked if it was hers she said yes but that it wasn't the sandwich she ordered, which Jose insisted that it was her sandwich when it wasn't after that, he became mumbling under his breath and no longer talking or communicating with my girlfriend and instead of making a new sandwich, just put the same sandwich through the toaster and added chicken that my girlfriend wanted so the bread was very hard. Then I had to wait at least 10 minutes at the cashier. Could have just left and no one would have noticed as all they were focusing on was the online orders. Many customers waiting. Asking him for extra vinaigrette seemed like a bother to him too. I get that life sucks now with COVID-19 causing so much disruptions in our lives, but his bad mood shouldn't transfer to me. Hope for his sake he has better days. If I don't feel welcome at a place, I do not care to come back. I won't come back to this location. I have been coming to this potbellies for many years and I've always had great customer service, but not today. Today my boyfriend and I went into this store and were greeted by this very nice young woman with long hair who I did not catch her name (SHE WAS GREAT). She made both of our sandwiches immediately while her two coworkers a boy and a girl with red hair stood in the corner and yapped the whole time. I asked for an Oreo shake the same time I ordered my sandwich. The nice girl who took our order asked her two coworkers to make it while she did our sandwiches. We were the only ones in line with maybe 3 other people eating in the establishment. Once our sandwiches were made by the same nice young lady, the two individuals still had not made my milkshake as they were still talking about their outside of work problems. They didn't start making it until after we had paid. I sat there for probably three minutes, watching them talk while she very slowly made my shake (she couldn't multitask). She then proceeded to continue to talk with my completed, shake, sitting next to her without handing it to me, completely oblivious to the fact that I was standing there waiting. The nice young woman noticed I had been waiting for a while and went to check on my milkshake. When she realized the shake was just sitting there done while the other two individuals just kept talking she mentioned to them "Hey this girl is waiting" The girl with the red hair replied "sorry" and the nice girl said "Don't apologize to me. apologize to her". Which, in fact, they did not apologize they just gave me this look like I was the problem. I just shook my head and walked out. The sandwiches made by the nice women were great. I wish I had caught her name! The date that we were there was 6/8/2025 at around 6:15pm. This has to be my go to spot for a good wholesome deli sub sandwich. Located right off the Rio center by the lake with curb side parking. A great place to grab and go. Every time I come here, I seem to always get the 'Wreck' sandwich with everything on it. And if you love a little spice in your sandwich, their brand of peppers will do the trick. I usually order online (they save may previous orders, which is helpful since I like to re-order the same sandwich), but you can also order by fax or of course on site :) They have three sandwich sizes, which is great, because you don't have to over eat: Skinny. Regular, and Biggie. I really like their sandwiches, but the one time I tried their salad, it was awful. The lettuce was wilted, the chicken was unappealing, and the worst part was that it contained bacon! I specifically asked for no bacon, but there were more then just a few pieces of it. BP and I had to throw it away after we found the bacon for religious reasons. On the positive side, their cookies are delectable and I love their shakes. I ordered my salad, soup and strawberry milkshake on Potbelly's website at 7:47 pm tonight. The meal arrived at 8:55 pm after I received numerous notices that it would arrive at 8:20. . Although I did receive my salad and soup, I did NOT receive my strawberry milkshake. The website says to call the store directly for problems with your order, so I did. The store manager yelled at me, told me he was too busy to deal with me and then hung up on me. He hung up at my request to be emailed confirmation that I would receive a refund. Instead of being apologetic and accommodating, he yelled at me about how busy he was. . This is NOT how you treat a customer who spent her money at your establishment and did not get the item she paid for. This is not how you treat customers!! Horrible experience!! read more

This is a nice place to grab a sandwich, located right on the boardwalk of the Rio lake. It's kinda expensive for a simple sandwich and the employees never look happy to be there, but the sandwiches are tasty and filling and always ready at the store when I order ahead. I did have an incident at this store where I received a chicken salad sandwich with no chicken salad - literally just bread and mustard. Not sure how their system is set up to allow that mistake to even occur, but they fixed it quickly when I brought it back. read more

I haven't been to this location in a while but the only reason I'm giving them 2 stars is because of my experience at lunch the other day. I understand that lunch rush gets hectic but you need a better system. They had someone taking the orders which is good but they messed up my order. The guy in front of me never placed his order with her so it took longer for me to move along with the line because he had to order his food. They also forgot my coworker's order so she had to cut in line and remind them for it. To top everything off, my sandwich was not put well together. It looked rushed and the hummus was all over the place. I need to try the new location in the Gaithersburg Square. Hopefully I'll have better luck there! read more

I've been to this Potbelly a couple of times. The sandwiches are delicious especially A Wreck, but really all the sandwiches are quite good. They have Zapps potato chips, which is one of my favorites. I always get the BBQ ones. Additionally, their cookies are huge & incredible. One noteworthy occurrence was a friend meeting me for lunch in Jan. 2017, who told me that her job had fired her for having one wine during her lunch break. Days later, she passed out from drinking way too much for her birthday. It seems she doesn't drink as much in 2018-19. I will always associate this location with her drinking and consider it a viable option for lunch or dinner while at Rio. read more
