Crisp & Juicy is a quick-service concept offering an authentic Peruvian fare that features rotisserie chicken. In concept, it is similar to the other Peruvian-style chicken places that are abundantly available across the DMV. The customer service is good and so is the food quality. Their jalapeño hot sauce is absolutely delicious. If you are familiar with the original jalapeño hot sauce that Sardi's used to offer when it first hit the scene in Beltsville, MD, this sauce is similar to that one. Bought a Super Bowl Platter ($52) for take out. Includes two whole chickens and four large sides. For sides, I got the mashed potatoes, green salad, fried plantains and primavera rice. Everything was well-packed and getting the food to my car and home was easy. While there, I asked the counter person to describe the different rice options, since there are several. She was very helpful and patient as she walked through them. (There were some language difficulties.). The person who prepared and packed my order also was efficient and friendly. The food is very good. Each whole chicken is 4 huge pieces, each moist and flavorful. The salad was huge and came with a tasty, tangy dressing. The mashed potatoes were well prepared, the plantains delicious and the rice well cooked and tasty. We opted for the spicy sauce and received a nice-sized container of delicious sauce for dipping the chicken in. It's a great sauce. FYI: Groupon sometimes has coupons for this place, so take a look for that if you can. We reheated the chicken and sides a day later and the chicken was still moist and tender. read more

Ordered via UberEats from this location on a Thursday evening for dinner. Soo good!! We got the family platter that comes with 1 whole chicken and 3 sides. They were not stingy with the sides like some of their other locations (cough cough Arlington). The chicken was pull apart tender and very juicy. They were very generous with the portions. We were shocked when we opened the plantains box and saw how many there was. Primavera rice was also filled to the top. The hot sauce was delicious as usual. It's one of my favorite Pollo a la brasa joints., because their chicken is marinated to perfection, chicken is fresh, and very juicy. You can tell that it came straight from the rotating oven. My go-to dish is a 1/4 dark meat chicken with yuca fries. Their yellow house made sauce like crack, so addictive. I love dipping my yucca fries in them. I also ask them to make my fries extra crispy. There are 5 booths, a combo and 4 tables that seat 4 ppl. The establishment is clean and the staff I interacted with was friendly. The entrance and exit allows for proper flow in and out. The floors are CLEAN. There's no squishy or sticky sound when you walk and staff actively washed their hands ( glad to see it). The sausage does have pork in it so if you adhere to refraining from pork products don't order anything with sausage. Food review: I got my meal to the car and the yucca fries were room temperature. We heard great things, but the disappointment started with the ordering. The lady was very nice, but we had some language difficulties that apparently were more significant than I thought. The only change in either order was for the steak Ceasar salad. "No croutons please." It appears that didn't make it because there were a lot of croutons on the salad. In fairness, they were good tasting croutons. Salad was a bowl of lettuce and croutons with some overcooked and chewy steak on top. The house made dressing was good, but not really enough for me, I should have asked for a second tub. For the chicken platter, everything was as ordered. Black beans were ok, sweet potato fries were fried, so that was good. What they weren't is salted, not one salt crystal, and you can't salt them later, that's not how that works. Being a vegan, there was very little for me to eat here. I went in to buy chicken for my little one. The man that took my order was rude and unfriendly. Since I had never been there it took a long time to decide but there wasn't anyone else in line so I don't know what his problem was. The interior was clean & modern. Not a fan of chicken but was crazy the spicy SAUCE specifically? Placed an order online via the Yelp app - all items in bag as the order however I should've opened all items prior to leaving. They're located in the entrance right when you walk in and point towards the "exit" sign - when I walk up to the counter there's two more signs, under one were baby high chairs? And the other sign was pointing to space on the counter but all pickup orders were b e h i n d the counters. All signs were to the right of the cashier, was confusing and the employee behind the register looked at me puzzled as to why I didn't come directly TO the register. Today, 7/29/2023, I went to the Crisp and Juicy restaurant in Gaithersburg, MD (18328 Contour Rd), and saw a sign on the front window offering an "incentive" for people paying cash, a 3.99% immediate discount. Once inside, the lady cashier rang the order and I asked that if I paid cash, I would get a discount. She said, "no, this is your cost if you pay cash, if you pay with a credit card, then I would add a 3.99%". I told her that it didn't make sense, and she said that a lot of people have complained but that she was following owner's directions. I then asked her if the prices on their display, showed only cash prices because I didn't see it advertized anywhere, and her reply was that "I only work here". The chicken at Crisp and Juicy tastes better than Sardi's in my opinion. It's juicier and it's seasoned better. However the sauce at Crisp and Juicy doesn't match with the sauce at Sardi's. Other than that, their fried rice is really good. The give you plenty of chicken and eggs, however I kinda feel like you should receive a little bit more than what they give you for that price. Their sandwiches are really good. I've only had the chirizo sandwich. If you purchase a sandwich from them, I highly recommend for you to eat it while you're dining in or eat it immediately after purchasing it. If you decide to drive it home or have it delivered, the bread becomes a little soggy from the lettuce and tomatoes. Customer service at this location has always been top notch. read more

There are some die-hard Crisp and Juicy fans out there, and after trying it again I just don't get it. It's not bad rotisserie, but there are so many other more flavorful options out there. My guess is that for people who prefer an unseasoned traditional rotisserie, this is their bird, for everyone else, there is Sardi's! There, I said it...the "S" word. You can't write a Peruvian chicken review and not refer to the best in the area. So here is the main difference, for me...a Sardi's chicken is rubbed with spices. You see them on the skin and caked under the breast plates. If you like that seasoning, and I do, you'll be licking it out of every nook and cranny once your meat is gone. It's that good. I'm sure this bird had plenty of salt on it and was probably lightly rubbed with seasoning, but I didn't see or taste anything obvious. My dark meat was juicy, my breast was very bland and dry. The skin was okay. Had a bit of that stickiness that people like, but wasn't crisp all around. The only thing I liked better about this bird was that I could taste more of the charcoal flavor from the lump it was roasted over. Otherwise, not worth going back in my book. It was served piping hot. I'm not sure if it was fresh off the grill or in warming oven as I didn't see any flames. (maybe that's why mine was dry) They do indeed only give you two half filled sauces with your 1/2 chicken "Super" meal. Just two. No more offered. The green sauce was nice and spicy and I liked it. I just needed more of it. They have less sides than other places, but the ones I tried were fine. I prefer the Peruvian assembly line where you can watch them hacking up a bird fresh off the grill and you can point to the sides you want based on how they look. I went today 40 minutes before they closed the cashier who was there laughed when I told about someone posting they don't charge for the sauces anymore, or at least was what I had read in here it seems to be the owner who said it and to be honest that is a misleading statement don't lie to your customers please because you do charge for them; I have been a faithful customer for almost 8 years now, but today I was disappointed chicken was not cooked on the inside and I ordered a whole chicken to receive only 6 sauces with it, I recall receiving a big container of sauce when it was a whole chicken. I guess things have definitely changed last time I got a sandwich so I will give the benefit of doubt, but from now on every time I will update my review until it reaches the 5 stars I had originally given. Crisp and juicy without being bougie! With many locations in Md and Va, this place is famous for their Peruvian chicken and sauces! I happened to be near the Gaithersburg location last week, so I made a pit stop. And boy, was it crowded during lunch. I love Peruvian chicken and this place did not disappoint. At~$12, the whole charbroiled chicken my friends and I ordered was tender and amazingly flavorful, especially with their magical crema de rocoto sauce. The chicken was definitely large enough to share with friends, and with each bite, I had to rethink my vegetarian goals. It was that good! To balance the meat flavors, we ordered the yuca, white rice, and cole slaw. The white rice paired well with the chicken, but it was the fried yuca that satisfied my taste buds. It was golden and starchy, just the way the yuca root should be. Make sure to get loads of sauce and though it may cost you, it'll be worth every penny. The cole slaw was a must for me too, since it was my substitute for a salad. It just made everything taste more refreshing! Cole slaw has raw cabbage with vinaigrette, so it must be healthy right?! Lastly, I had a cup of horchata that was a tad sweet, but twas perfect with all the meat and starchy foods. They have so many sides to choose from; black beans and rice, salad, yuca, and plantains. I recommend the 1/4 chicken white meat, yuca and the black beans and rice. If you want to go all out, order the plantains too. It also comes with a choice of sauces mild and spicy. Get the spicy. I like the spicy orange sauce and the green one. Ask for two of each sauce. I brought food that totaled $32.70, but out of my account they took $34.01. I called and spoke to the Manager, she tried to tell me it was a fee from my bank for using my card and to call the bank. I called my bank and they said they DO NOT CHARGE A FEE FOR ME USING MY CARD. So Crisp and Juicy is ripping people off by overcharging them for food. I was overcharge by $1.31, if they do this to 50 people, they have made an extra $65 from cheating people out of their money. I've eaten at just about every Peruvian chicken place in Montgomery county and I'll say this isn't the best chicken but it's good. What stood out were the plantains and the black beans and rice. Plantains were caramelized to perfection and the beans and rice were super flavorful. The skin on the chicken was missing the crisp and the chicken was missing the juicy part. It's fast. Convenient. The staff is nice. For four stars I need that chicken to be on point. For 5 I need to dream about that chicken. What I will say is that I would be willing to go back and try some of their sandwiches.
