There are a few CAVA locations and this one is located right in Melville Mall. This is like Chipotle or CoreLife where you can build your own grains bowl or salad bowl or greens and grains bowl but with mediterranean options. I chose to build my own grains bowl. First, you will choose your grain bowl base: saffron basmati rice, brown basmati rice, black lentils, or RightRice. I chose the saffron basmati rice. Next was choosing dips and spreads. I chose the traditional hummus, crazy feta, and tzatziki. You get a scoop of these. Next is mains and I chose the spicy lamb meatballs. The spicy lamb meatballs was not spicy and a little dry inside, but with everything mixed it in it felt less dry. Second to last was toppings. I chose the fiery broccoli, fire roasted corn, salt-brined pickles, and tomato + cucumber. Lastly, is choosing a dressing. I chose the yogurt dill. I felt like my bowl was drowned in yogurt dill sauce and wish it wasn't. I wasn't able to really try the dips in my bowl. There is seating inside and outside. Inside there are tables and countertops. Since it was raining outside, we sat inside and it wasn't too crowded inside. The meal was very filling. Service was quick and the line kept moving. I have not been to Cava since they opened, now I know why. Ordered online falafel pita and 2 falafel bowls. The app gave me a time when the order would be ready. We arrived to pick up our order and we were told five more minutes by the time we got our order it was actually 15 minutes later. The place is a zoo, dirty with tables, not cleaned there is not enough help. When we went home and had our falafel's, they were horrible three small falafel's in the pita with the rest being stuffed with cheap salads. Even the bowls were lacking falafel flavor. I was excited to hear that a CAVA location was opening up nearby. I visited one of their locations in Manhattan several years ago and enjoyed my meal there. My co-workers and I decided to make a pick up order and do a picnic outside since it was a nice day. Ordering on the website was straightforward and easy. There are options for customization of some dishes. Pre-payment via credit card. The orders were ready at the time that we specified. My strawberry citrus drink was pre-filled, but there were several choices of fresh juices to choose from self serve dispensers when you arrive if you order the fresh juice option. Eco-friendly plant based forks and paper straws were conveniently next to the pick up area to grab, although I would have preferred if the forks were individually wrapped. I had a Harissa Avocado Bowl. It was a great combination of fresh ingredients. Spice level was comfortable as the Harissa seasoning was definitely present, but there was no urge to guzzle down a drink to cool off. The pickled onions and feta cheese contrasted well with the Harissa. The bowl was $15, but it was worth it for the quality of ingredients and portion size. It could have easily been two meals. Strawberry citrus was delicious and not overly sweet or sour. I will definitely return to try more of what CAVA has to offer. read more

It's been over a year since I ate this Grains and Greens bowl of goodness, and let me say it did not disappoint! It was packed with all my fav ingredients and so fresh and delicious. Love the food from Cava but the service isn't consistent. Sometimes the employees are great and other times they're not. For example, when I go, they've given me pitas for free but when my parents ordered for me they skimmed out on half the bowl and didn't give them the free pitas that go along with it.
