DENIED WATER I've been to many other CAVA across MD + a couple in northern VA & PA. This is the only location who has ever denied a courtesy cup of water. I went through the steps of getting everything I wanted in the bowl. I told the cashier then the manager that if they deny the water, they won't get a dime from me. Manager said it was the owner and blamed me for not knowing their policy for 2 years to which I responded I've never been to this location. The manager was snippy about it. She wouldn't give her name or the owner's name or email and said just email CAVA in general. Ultimately, I ended up at El Gran Pollo next door paid full price of almost $16 instead of about $6 at CAVA (as I had a half off promo), which I'll get around to writing a 3-star review of tomorrow. As others have mentioned, the service at location needs some fine tuning. On at least two occasions, I was completely ignored while patiently waiting to place my order. A simple greeting would have made such a difference. Food is pretty standard and the portions are respectable. They keep it fairly clean and well stocked with forks and napkins. Rating based on service. So slow for no reason. It's not busy, at all. There are 4 people in the kitchen, doing a lot of talking. We ordered 20 minutes ago and still waiting. So delicious! I love how customizable the build your own bowls are and the serving sizes are large. You can definitely meet your protein goals and fiber goals with this meal. It feels very healthy, but it's so delicious at the same time. I got there grilled chicken and thought it was cooked really well, not overdone and very flavorful. The bowls come with a nice soft slice of pita bread. The pita "chips" are more like deep fried pita bread pieces, not crunchy like chips but they are SOOO good. The restaurant itself is very clean and well decorated. The staff was okay, they weren't exceptionally or kind but gave good portions and did their job. Nalley Fresh is right next door, but this place is better. Beware their harissa paste/sauce. It's actually hot. I was pleasantly surprised. Most places, you tell them you want your meal spicy, and it tastes just like everyone else's meal. My boyfriend was actually sweating, while eating his bowl. It helps to get the hummus or the crazy feta, to calm the burn. I got the Harissa Avocado Bowl (880 Cal - Harissa honey chicken + hot harissa vinaigrette. Crazy Feta®, hummus, corn, cabbage, avocado, rice, SuperGreens) and it was amazing. So much food! I swapped regular rice for their RightRice, as my boyfriend was recently diagnosed diabetic and we're trying to find vegetable products that he'll enjoy. It's an extra charge for RightRice but it's so tasty. It's worth it. The salad came with a small piece of pita. Carbs! I love them! But I'm on this low-carb, low-sugar, high protein adventure with my boyfriend so I'm glad it wasn't a bigger piece. I also tried the blueberry lavender lemonade. I was expecting shockingly sweet, but it's so not that. I liked it, but will try another of their interesting beverages next time. My boyfriend built his own bowl with double chicken, harissa, Crazy feta, pickled onions (so pretty in pink), RightRice, lentils, no greens with Greek vinaigrette. He regrets not getting the cucumbers and tomatoes. My mom got the Spicy Chicken and Avocado wrap (Harissa honey chicken, Crazy Feta®, hummus, avocado, pickles, corn, pickled onions, hot harissa vinaigrette). It was soaking wet when she unwrapped it. She had to eat it with a form. I think she regretted the harissa. She claimed that we should come back, but she only ate half her wrap. I LOVE Cava, but I will not order online from them! My build your own bowl and they skimped on everything! Barely any greens, rice, vegetables, and definitely didn't get any garlic dressing (usually you can smell it before you get it out of the bag) they don't even give you the free pita bread like you'd get if you were in person. I go to this location because of the convenience during my lunch break. The food is always hot and flavorful, and the staff is always pleasant. After my last visit I was disappointed because I noticed the price increase (which is understandable) and smaller portion sizes. I never get all of the toppings offered because of personal taste, so I was upset when I was told that there would be an extra charge for me to double up on the TWO toppings (cucumbers and olives) that I had on my bowl. I don't know if this is a new policy or the staff is just misinformed but to tell me that I can have one scoop of everything or be charged extra for two scoops of only two things is frustrating. If this IS the new policy I won't be returning as frequently because I believe the amount of food should reflect the increase in price. read more

Salmon didn't seem fresh - very dry. Service started okay but when passed down the line it got worse. I had to repeat that I did want a bag because the cashier was talking to her co worker and she seemed annoyed that she had to take my items out of the bag. I had to ask for my complimentary pita that wasn't handed to me with my order... she responded with "did you ask for one"- which yes I had actually been asked if I wanted one - in which I replied yes, please.... THEN I get to my car to find they gave me one of the wrong dips. When I went back in to get the correct dip- there was no apology and the employee looked at me like I was crazy when handing him the wrong dip I was given. Also, the free pita was rolled up in its packaging and hard instead of flat and soft- I hadn't seen that before at a CAVA. Needless to say I won't be back to this location. Hi everyone, I'm a loyal customer to this particular branch. I love it here. The reason Is because the manager Carla is a wonderful person and the staff are very polite. I work in construction and am an electrician so when I come there usually it's after work. After a long work day, I'm tired but they all take care of me with patience, great service and great words of encouragement. This is important because most of us that come here, it's because we are trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Well, all of the ingredients that Cava use are healthy, fresh and tastes amazing. This is my #1 go to spot on days when I need something both healthy and enjoyable, which is most of the time. I cannot ask for anything more. Years ago there was a tapas spot in downtown Bmore on Fleet where 'BLK Swan' has currently set up shop. Previously, that was the location for CAVA. It was a fun, casual spot with high energy that served fantastic tapas. The weekends were the best bc the brunch was absolutely INSANE! Mimosas/ Bloody Mary's were like 0.25 cents or something crazy like that. I digress... As all good things / places in Bmore, eventually, it left the area out of nowhere. *le sigh* Years pass and today, while out, a friend suggested we go to CAVA. I was elated!!! I thought, 'OMG! It's still around? YESSSS!!! Let's GO'!!! Upon entering, my first thought was, 'where are we? What is this place? This isn't the CAVA I knew'. Essentially, CAVA now is akin to the set up of places like Chipotle, &pizza, Panda Express & the like (assembly line style). You choose your meal from behind the glass, and they prepare your meal. You can get your meal one of two ways: either a 1) bowl or 2) a wrap. Still in shock w/ the change, I order a Harissa Avocado Bowl... and I never looked back!!! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! This preparation was a treat for the eyes. All the colors of the fresh ingredients truly were laid out like a kaleidoscope in the bowl. Yum!!! The Harissa Avocado Bowl is: A fresh but fiery chef-curated bowl that's perfect for summer. It includes SuperGreens, Basmati Rice (I substituted brown rice), Crazy Feta, Hummus, Harissa Honey Chicken, Fire-Roasted Corn, Avocado, Pickled Onions, Cucumber, and their Hot Harissa Vinaigrette. SCORE!!! Turns out they were out of corn and feta at the time so I added Jalapeños, black couscous, pico de gallo, tomatoes and an additional Cilantro dressing. When I tell you this meal was 1) healthy af 2) super filling and 3) a party in my mouth... believe me! This was so incredibly flavorful. They offer canned and maybe bottled drinks, as well as a self serve soda fountain to get ur own drinks. I opted for the self serve and mixed several lemonades & tea to make a delicious concoction. The staff was incredibly well mannered and professional. It's nice to see employees that don't have a chip on their shoulder, in the area. My initial disappointment was quickly set aside once I had this melange of deliciousness to chow down on. Service was TERRIBLE!!!! 3/7/25 3:30pm This was my first time here, and let's just say I will NEVER be coming back! The kid serving the food had the worst attitude--he seemed like he was mad at the world and completely unwilling to listen. I ordered a falafel bowl and specifically asked for my sauces on the side, but he had the nastiest attitude. I also asked if a certain item was extra, and he said yes. I never said I wanted it--I simply asked. Then, I had to wait for the "crispy falafel." When the next guy brought it out, I asked how many came with the bowl, and he told me four. That wasn't a difficult question, but apparently, communication is a struggle here. Then, the first guy started adding the item I had only asked about. When I told him I didn't want it, just that I wanted to know if it was extra, he got mad, threw my entire plate--falafel and all--into the trash, and had to start over. That wasted so much of my time. Finally, at the register, I noticed my $11.99 bowl somehow totaled over $15. When I asked why, the cashier said the extra falafel was an additional charge. What?! I had specifically asked the other guy how many came with the bowl, and he confidently said four. Now he suddenly didn't know which bowl I ordered? How hard is it for them to communicate with each other to ensure they charge customers correctly and provide accurate information? This was the WORST experience ever! I almost walked away without the food, and honestly, I wish I had--because it was disgusting! Not only that WTF I HAVE TO PAY FOR A DAMN BAG ??? Along with your bowl, you also get a free pita! I would recommend looking online or in the cava app what they offer so you can have an idea of what you want so you're not overwhelmed ordering in person. I think this spot has figured out the formula for Mediterranean/Middle Eastern faster food concept as the previous spot, Zoe's Kitchen, unfortunately wasn't successful. For Cava, you have a choice of build your own or one of their curated signature bowls that have a variety of veggies and grains. We got a variety of "Build your own" Greens and Grains bowls. The Harissa Honey Chicken had a slight spicy kick with some sweet and was the most popular for us. Also enjoyed the Braised Lamb. Lamb or beef meatballs, grilled chicken, Falafel, Roasted Potatoes and Veggies round out the protein options. There is an overwhelming amount of spreads/dips & toppings to choose from. Enjoyed the crazy feta, roasted eggplant, Harissa dip and vinaigrette and Tahini Caesar. All with intense flavors. Bowls come with a pita. About 12:30 arrival, it was just us in line and in just a few minutes, there were about 20 in line. Service was friendly and they were patient with us answering questions given this was our first visit. Overall, a strong player in the "Build your Own" Bowl concept! read more

[Coronavirus review] Admittedly, this was my second choice because of the first choice's limited hours. It's a good second choice though, and with CAVAs all around the Baltimore-Washington Metro Area, I'm always thinking of them as a fallback plan if I really need a quick meal. They've been a leader in pandemic response, providing a quality menu and plenty of options to get it (they'll bring it out to you at curbside if you want). And unless you're sick, if you work there you've got a job (and if you are sick their published policies seem sensible). Of course, the central strength is the dips, the hummus and crazy feta which one sees at most of the finer local grocery stores. However, their variety of options for building a bowl-at one price-inspires creativity and confidence. They've got their lentils back, my favorite base for both nutrition and taste. There have been shortages, and I find it wise to order online and check what each location has available at any given time, as this place was missing some of their greens and the delicious hot peppers. Wouldn't really be fair to mark them down for that during a crisis. The other thing of note is that I ordered a blondie as I've never tried their desserts. I was a bit miffed because I thought they forgot it, only to find it hidden in a cranny at the bottom of a large bag (that I really didn't need anyway). I wasn't going out of my way to be rude or to make them miserable, but I did feel bad that I ended up questioning them and being wrong. CAVA opened its newest location in White Marsh, and it's a great clean restaurant with plenty of tables and an outdoor enclosed section on the side of the building. I ordered a Lamb Meatballs Greens/Grains Bowl, Harissa Honey Chicken with Lamb Meatballs Greens/Grains Bowl, Braised Lamb Greens/Grains Bowl, and a Braised Lamb Pita. The good: You're able to add up to 3 different types of dips/spread, and the toppings are unlimited! The Braised Lamb Pita was amazingly delicious. The pita bread was warm and soft, and definitely enjoyed the chewy texture of the pita bread. The braised lamb was very flavorful, and the drizzle went really well with the dish. With the Greens/Grains bowl, I tried the Lamb Meatballs, Honey Harissa Chicken, and Braised Lamb bowls. The different meats were all delicious, but definitely enjoyed the Braised Lamb the most, and would highly recommend it over the other meats. I decided to go with all of the toppings, and tried different dressings. My favorite dressing is the Lemon Herb Tahini, but can't go wrong with any of the dressings you choose. The bad: Nothing against CAVA, but the parking lot could be bigger since it will get packed around lunch time with all the other restaurants and stores in the area. My family usually comes here when we don't feel like cooking, so we come at least once a month. It's a better alternative to Chipotle simply because it feels healthier (e.g. I can choose half brown rice and half lentils, or half sweet potatoes and half vegetables), there's more options, and it's only like $11 for a rice bowl. We always order online, so can't speak for the in-store experience, and every single time I double almost all of the toppings I'm ordering. Portions-wise, it's usually enough to fill me up, but it's been inconsistent how much of each thing I've been given (sometimes I get an insane amount of food, other times it barely fills the bowl despite me doubling it). Their bread is mediocre, but on our last visit they said they don't have a supply of bread anymore to accompany the bowl. I usually get lemon herb tahini as a dressing (also doubled) and this past time it was a bit too salty. I swear upon their pickled onions. It inspired me to try and figure out the recipe on my own to replicate them. Their lemon meatballs are also quite good, but nowadays I typically go the vegetarian route with 1/2 falafel and 1/2 sweet potatoes and I honestly don't miss the meat with this combo. read more

The portions for the pitas are incredible which is usually my first choice. Their falafel recipe is very well rounded not too salty or too cakey which is the best I've tried yet.
