While there were options to accommodate a gluten-free diet, the selection of dedicated gluten-free items was somewhat limited. On the plus side my family enjoyed the ribs and crab balls. On the negative side, the fish in my fish and chips was painfully thin and small. Normally you get a nice chunky piece of fish when you get fish and chips. Not only that, l've never had fish and chips where the skin was on the fish. I left most of the skin behind, but ate some of it because the portion was so small. I had to eat something. Please have the chef look up what fish and chips is supposed to look like. Despite being the only server, our wait person was outstanding - it wasn't their fault that they had to handle the entire dining room. . Also appreciated the carafe of water on the table - but why no ice -had to drink lukewarm water. Make sure to ask for prices upfront and verify-for a single crabcake entrée, we paid $63 when it's advertised online as 30. Let the buyer beware.. Wouldn't feel a need to return at this point, too many other better options.

They must treat their employees well, as all the staff seemed excited, happy, engaged, outgoing, and smiley.

I had a feeling that there would be a lot of things that would catch my eye and I was right, but we were good and stayed on mission. A friend was having a Halloween party and I wanted to bring an on-theme food item. World Market had the coolest pumpkin shaped noodles, so I made macaroni salad. The noodles were flavored and multicolored and the macaroni salad seemed to be a hit. We also could not resist these weird spongy blue sour egg shaped candies because Jeremy loves blue Raspberry anything. He's been trying to get me to try one ever since because it's a texture sensation, but not necessarily in a good way. But we love to share experiences and make fun of the bad ones, so I may relent at some point. We signed up for their loyalty program and received an instant discount. And there's already a coupon waiting for me in my email box. That'll come in handy when we return to buy a bunch of unusual international snacks for Jeremy's little brother's upcoming birthday.

You can technically get 3 meals for under $30 when you order for delivery. I order the spaghetti with meat sauce and get a second one for $6. Those are both for me. One right away and one for the next day. Plus it comes with soup or salad. I get either/or for my dad. My dad is newly obsessed with the Minestrone soup. He says it's the best soup he's ever had. Their spaghetti with meat sauce is probably the only restaurant spaghetti I actually like. I've tried many other places and none of it is good. The employees at this location or great and I don't think I've ever had a complaint in the over 30 years I've been coming here. I like sitting in the middle part that has a full wall on one side and a half way on the other. It's more dimly lit in that area so it's more relaxing. P

I asked for waters while we look over the menus. Hubby ordered the unlimited soup and salad and breadsticks, while I tried something new, the Calabrian steak and shrimp Bucatini. We were able to dine in peace when our soups, salad and breadsticks were served. By the time hubby got his 2nd bowl, my meal was served. Then a family of 4 was seated next to us and the sleepy toddler started to have a fit. Which made it hard to enjoy our evening. Then another family of 4 were seated next to us with their toddler, who was also not in the mood to be there. Making it all uncomfortable for us to dine in peace. So I then asked our server for a to-go box. Bringing our evening to an end.

I suspect Captain Jim runs his ships all the same, no matter where they are located, so I'll put it here - but if the Captain is still in the same spot next year, I'll start the new Yelp page then. My grandfather lived in Dundalk all his life, and he was a tremendously important person in my life. He passed some time ago and is buried at... one of those cemeteries on German Hill, right across the street from Captain Jim's. I like to visit him on his birthday, and Christmas if I have the chance. This year would have been his 99th birthday. I put a box of Butterfinger candies on his headstone because they were his favorite, and decided that I would get some steamed crabs in his honor because they were also one of his favorite things (and I had the money). We were originally going to get the crabs somewhere else, but figured, 'hey, Captain Jim's is right here. Why not give them a try?' We weren't disappointed. It took about 20 minutes for them to freshly steam 3 dozen small males, and a pound of shrimp for us. It wasn't much more than $50 (which is what I had on hand from my grandmother, who has been without my grandfather for at least 15 years now). The scent of the (I'm guessing) J.O2 seasoning filled our van, and the steam from the crabs actually fogged our windows. I spent about 8 hours picking crabs. I find the activity so calming, and could do it all the time if my arthritic elbows and shoulders didn't throw an absolute fit the next day. The crabs were delicious and made me happy, and isn't that the point? We got two different butters to dip the crab in, but that's not really my thing. My boyfriend said that the plain butter tasted woody, and he didn't like that, but the garlic butter was a hit and he has used the leftover butter to make at least one dinner so far. The shrimp were lovely, and came with cocktail sauce, and steamed onions because what's the point of steamed shrimp if not to get some onions as well? I think we did right by my grandfather. Would recommend
