I love the food, the prices are a bit high. But every time I visit this location I'm standing in line for about 20-40 minutes. The staff takes each bowl slowly one at a time and there is never enough staff for the crowd. Other places like Panda and Chipotle do this build your own system too but this Cava location hasn't quite figured out how to do it efficiently yet. If I could give a negative star I would. This is HAND DOWN the WORST LOCATION in San Diego!!!! We love Cava, it's on of my daughters favorite place to eat but this location is just awful. The service is terrible and slow. The staff just seems incredibly lazy and unhelpful. The tables are so sticky its disgusting, like every single table. The floors are a mess, covered in trash and food, even the drink counter is filthy. The first time we went there I insisted we eat at home because I was so uncomfortable with how dirty the entire restaurant was. Even the back area that we can all see, just absolute filth. Every time we have gone the service is so slow, it's dirty, and something is out of stock. Last night we went before 8pm, they were out of garlic sauce, ice, and towels in the restroom. This is the ONLY location I have been to that does not offer you pita bread btw. As the paying customers we should not have to tell the staff that the machine needs ice or the bathroom needs to be stocked and cleaned because it's gross. How can they consistently be so bad? Is there no GM or management at all? The MOD on staff last night was just as lazy as the rest of the staff , so maybe they need new managers because it's just embarrassing. How can every other location be so great and this one is so awful, just awful. In the future I will drive 30 minutes to go to a different location. I've been to this location many times. Typically I order off the app for pick up. Today I decided to go into the store and order. I was served by Abigail who was very attentive and helpful. She helped me stay on track of my order as I was contemplating options. I made a mistake on an item, and she gave the option to build another plate. I declined as I will be back to correct the item on my next order, and I did not want to ask her to correct my error as she did such great job with customer service. Love Cava, but as others have said-this is the worst location by far. After visiting many times, things have just progressively gotten worse. Tables, floors, windows and doors are always a grimy, sticky, filthy mess. Trash literally overflowing and stacked high. I've never seen an employee wiping tables or emptying trash-ever. Service in the line is always slow...despite the many, many employees. Some are nice...others who work all the time (will not mention names) are always moody. Today TWO different employees said (after making mistakes), "it's been a long day." Then one of them apologized to the person behind me saying, "I'm sorry if I offended you. It's been a long day." I don't know what's going on, but this is not a good look! If you order for delivery, the order is totally wrong. The line is dirty (I worked previously in food service). AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I had a little situation today in that I made a pick up order online and for some reason, my order went to the Delmar location rather then the Carmel Mountain location even after verifying that this was chosen correctly. Once I go to the Carmel Mountain location, I called the Delmar site, spoke with there manager who didn't even want to try to do anything at all to help. The Carmel Mountain manager Mike noticed that I sent in my request to have the order cancelled and re-imbursed but was having a difficult time with the Delmar manager. Mike went wayyyyyyy out of his way, asked if he could see what my order was, made it HIMSELF, and made sure that I was taken care of which in no way did he have to do at all. Amazing customer service, excellent manager, and you have to be a good person in general to go out of your way to act upon something that wasn't his fault at all. Finally a healthy local fast food alternative! I've tried several different combinations now which keeps life interesting! The food is fresh, delicious & the quality is consistent. Friendly service with the best smile going to Lorraine! I'm not much of a soda fan, but I do enjoy their healthier options and especially love the Juice selections. My favorite is the cucumber blend. My only criticism is Cava should allow the employees to receive tips. Unless they'd like to pay them an additional $2 per hr. That would work too! read more

Let me start by saying I like the food here so I keep coming back, but every time I do, I'm always disgusted with the dining area and lack of customer service. I refuse to dine- in and instead just pick up food and take it home. About 90% of the time the waste bins are always full and there's water and ice on the floor near the drink stations.There's always a minimum of 5 people waiting for their pickup orders which are about a half hour to forty minutes behind the alleged ready time. The dining room is always a mess with used napkins on the floor and tables. The very sticky tables by the way. I feel like it's a Petri dish waiting to grow bacteria. The manager should be fired. Some of the employees are clueless. Ive seen two employees fill their own drink cups 15 minutes ago and the drink station hasn't been re-filled yet. I let at least two employees know that the drink station was empty. The first employee shrugged. The second employee told me, "what we have out there is what we have." and if I don't like the drink selection, I should call corporate. I know it's usually busy in there but, they should know their peak times and be be better prepared . Today my order took 45 minutes from the original pick up time. Also, they told me to call corporate again when they had to substitute regular chicken because they had no Harissa chicken. I am disappointed with a lack of customer service on site and constantly being told to call corporate. I can only give you so many chances, and then I'm just gonna start spreading the word. On top of that, they didn't put a receipt w the name on the outside of every bag so everyone is going through other people's bags trying to figure out if it's their order. My boyfriend and I ordered here for the first time and were incredibly disappointed. First, my bf went to pick up our online order he waited for someone to help him and said that the girl at the counter just stared at him and continued to not help him. Another group of people then walks in and she proceeds to help them first?? My boyfriend continued to wait and still nothing the man who was refilling the drinks was the one who offered to help him not her. So the only person working had to go out of his way to do what the front register person should. And then I look at the pita and think wow that's so tiny and again look at the Yelp reviews and that's not the amount I'm supposed to get...Fast forward we're eating and he realizes there's no broccoli in his bowl which is when I realize that there's also no broccoli in mine. One of three (sierra) proceeded to give her two friends free pita and dip BEFORE acknowledging us and taking our order (we are paying customers). While I recognize labour may be hard to obtain, there was blatant employee theft and a severe lack of customer service. I did relay my feedback to the manager on my observations with a response being "sorry to hear this"...please pay attention to the service you are providing. I did not end up getting anything as I did not want to reward an establishment that demonstrated such poor service standards.
