ALRIGHT!! I was trying sooooo hard to give this man the benefit of the doubt but I was just about fed up. I dropped my heels off on June 2nd and I wasn't able to pick them up until June 18th and by that time I was waiting on my second pair of heels because he misplaced by broken buckle I had originally brought in to fix. I brought in two pairs of heels. One where the bottoms were just flapping around and another pair where the buckle had broke. Although both heels were eventually fixed it took forever to get them and that's the main problem I had. Luckily I didn't need them right away but imagine if I did. Every time I went the store it was either closed early or closed on the days they said they would be open. I stopped by the shop at least 3 times hoping they would be open. Honestly I think a text or phone call when the shoes are ready would fix this problem right away! Saying they will be done in a couple days doesn't really help. When I received my shoes they were poorly done. Glue was smeared onto the shoes but at this point I'm just happy I have them back in my closet. Paid around $49 for both heels. read more

Yes, the stories are true. Yes, the crotchety old lady is rude. Yes, the place charges a bit on the higher end. I visited this establishment on September 4th, dropping off my shoes for a heel replacement ($43) and polish ($20). I scheduled a pickup for two weeks later, on September 18th. I wasn't able to get to the store on September 23rd. When I got here, apparently, the work had not been completed and I was told to return in 20 minutes. What's the point of scheduling a pickup time if work isn't completed at that time? I did get a "sorry about that" from the old lady after she exclaimed "NO AMERICAN EXPRESS!" so loudly that some folks walking outside peeked into the store to make sure everything was okay. In summary, you might get some good service if people mistakenly suspect you of assaulting an old lady. read more

Second pair of boots done and I'm just as proud of these as the first. Absolutely beautiful, comfortable, quality resole. The good-year heel is perfect, the construction of the new bottoms are perfect. Customer service: in a world where everyone is entitled and expecting to be worshipped, a straight to the point, direct and honest elderly woman might be offensive or considered "rude". I agree, to today's standard the counter person may seem cold but I find her helpful, concise and a straight shooter. On a side note, I silently noticed the severe arthritis in her hands. At her age and work life history, I imagine she's probably enduring a great deal of day to day pain all the while still working. I think people should be less quick to demean and judge people because they're not being cuddled for once in their California lives. Just from the initial contact with the old lady behind the counter there, just gave such an awful vibe... she was rude, not the slightest bit friendly, an presented an awful image. I gave them a pair of my good Athletic shoes that have a specific shoe-lace system that needed a repair of a hard plastic clasp piece. They called me some time later, only to tell me they COULD NOT fix them and for me to come pick them up. Upon my arrival of picking up my shoes, I encountered the lady again. They used to be the best in town. I took my LV tote bag there for the strap to be sewn back on. I didn't think I needed to tell them to keep it original. They sewed the strap on backwards and were ready to send it out like that, I had to point out@ this is backwards" so I left it for another week. I've used it for 1 week and the strap pulled off , and it's not packed with heavy stuff, because it was glued on instead of sewn. Not even one star worthy. My nephew dropped off 3 pair of his Nike shoes... picked them up 4 days later, looking the same. They couldn't even pretend they did something and clean the bottoms. I brought in some old hiking boots that were coming loose from the sole along the instep of one of the boots and the leather had come unstitched for about 1 inch. They told me they removed the sole and glued it all back together. . . . I honestly think they did nothing at all! When I first saw the "repair," I showed them a remaining 1-2 inch gap where the sole and boot should meet. The other parts looked OK at the time. They offered to fix the gap with more glue and they took off $5 (down from $15). However, I didn't want to wait another whole week like I had just done so I took them with me. When I got home I looked more carefully. The worst hole (in the leather itself) was actually still there. (How had I not noticed in the store?) Plus, the soles were not as securely attached as I thought they had been. So, if they did anything at all and used actual glue, it must have been Elmer's!!! This "repair" accomplished nothing at all. Now I have Shoe Goo and that is what I'm using to fix my beloved boots. I'm not doing a pretty job but we're talking hiking boots. The so-called repair gets a 1-star review, but I added a 2nd star because they were nice to me about the whole thing. Go there for a chat if you want, but do not go there for shoe repair. read more

Ok,I only went here for stellar shoe repair......well done! I bought the boots I took in here @ Bloomingdales in New York several years back & I LOVE THEM they were "pricey" but they are pretty! When the heels & the bottom started falling apart I took them here! I paid $49 For the repair (& the heels & bottom were thrashed) & I'm soooooo pleased. I get so many compliments on these boots often & they are lovely & I'm so totally happy w/ how they turned out. Went there today,to simply have the soles of my Birkenstocks reglued. The soles were slightly worn,no where in need of replacing. I used to really love this place & have supported it for years however it appears to be diminishing in customer service. As a long time customer, it is incredibly disappointing when you bring in a very expensive leather backpack purse and ask them to fix the strap which is coming out only to find they have GLUED it with I don't know what and charged me for stitching it into place (as I expected it would be handled). From reading other reviews, I gather this is not the place to take Uggs to be cleaned. I wished I had read the reviews beforehand. I took in a pair of Uggs to be cleaned since I had accidentally stepped in some water. The rude woman at the counter at the counter asked me if I'd ever put protector on my shoes, which I had. She said she couldn't guarantee if they could get them clean. When I picked up the shoes, they looked worse that before I had stepped in the water. They looked very worn which they hadn't before. I'm usually very careful with my Uggs (other than stepping in water at the cemetery). I'm not sure if the result was because the water ruined the shoes or because of the cleaning job. My daughter's black Ugg's were in need of repair, they had a small hole on top of the toe. I brought them in a couple of weeks ago, the lady at the counter tells me I have to go to a fabric store and get a patch for the repair. I ask her, "what are your hours?" She tells me, "they are posted on the door." Apparently telling me was a bit too much for her. When I picked the boots up, the patch was just glued on the boot. Now they are worse than before. I brought in my favorite pair of ankle boots that had a damaged heel. Only one heel had the missing top piece, but they replaced both so they would evenly wear together. The repair was completed beautifully, they replaced a few more damages on the base of the heel and cleaned them very well! They look great! $12 so not bad at all. I brought in a brand new pair of leather sandals and asked if they could be stretched. They said yes. When I picked them up they were ripped and the white sole was not white anymore. The zipper repair waa done good but when I looked at the heel block replacements it looked like they slapped shoe goo (the same color as each heel) on the heel and added a cheap block. I am PISSED! This used to be the best shoe repair place in town. I've taken purses there as well throughout the years. I recently bought a leather backpack and wanted the adjustable straps on each side glued together so that they would not slide and adjust on their own.. When I picked it up it was a disaster. Not only did they decide to stitch it (which I never asked for) the stitching is crooked almost everywhere. Also the thread was a different color from one side to the other and on one strap you can see they added horizontal stitching and on the other side didn't even try to match it. It's a total mess. To add insult to injury, the purse was not ready on the day they said to pick it up. They said to come back the next day which I did and it was still not done. I went back the following week. I decided to call ahead of time and was told not to come in for 30 minutes because it would not be done until then. I've done business with this establishment for 40 years and sadly will never return read more
