Conlin has damaged trees in our backyard, destroyed our wooden fence, and damaged our grass and helped themselves to our lawn. They do whatever the person who pays them asks them to do with no concern towards the adjoining neighbour or the law. So they drilled rock into the back of our neighbor's yard to make it more dry during the pandemic and took out every single one of our fence posts ($2000 to rebuild fence). They leaned over our back fence and trimmed our back trees to the point that one became a tall stump with no top (it still exists, as a tall growing stump). And, they've trimmed my beautiful Maple tree on our side yard to the point that it started to lean on our garage, once again with their workers leaning over the fence line. I had to hire a service yearly to try to balance out their trimming, but they lean over my fence line about 3 feet into our tree and leave the tree branches on our side. I don't know if they know anything about Illinois laws regarding tree trimming--I'm guessing not. The icing on the cake was seeing their men on my driveway treating my front yard, without my permission, on camera, only because my neighbour (who has residency in Turks and Caicos Islands) asked them to put weed killer on my front yard. Unethical company. My tree company will not touch trees belonging to the neighbors. They've also installed a sprinkler in our front yard (?!) I had to put in a front yard fence to keep them off my lawn. I now have outside cameras and I've given them notice that I'm recording their workers (who of course all don't speak English no offence) trespassing on our yard. I get it -- neighbors can be not so great, but it's amazing what this company will do, in the name of making a buck. It's not like any of this would have happened if a normal landscaping company with ethics was doing the work. Something really is "off" re this company and when I try to speak to their workers, none of them will speak to me. I have to contact the owner every single time via phone or email. Who leaves workers with a tree elevator that lifts them up, with no English speaking person on the crew, and then they're lifting the person over the neighbor's fence to trim the neighbor's trees and I have zero time to even stop them. They only stop, actually, if you start videotaping them. And, then, they wait, and continue, if they think you're gone. Anything goes! read more

Our 30 year old law and landscaping suffered due to years of neglect caused by our assignments living overseas. We contacted CB Conlin based on a recommendation from a friend. Barry and his team developed an overall plan that included a partially replaced lawn and landscaping, as well as a replacement driveway and new irrigation system. They coordinated the overall schedule with the driveway and irrigation contractors. Barry and his team didn't skip a beat. Result was delivery of the entire plan exactly as promised, on schedule, for the price quoted. Colin and his team did a great job on our 14x38' Techo Bloc paver patio. Communication was easy and professional. They listened to our needs instead of trying to push us towards a cookie cutter design. The project was finished in a timely manner and the area was cleaned up afterward to our liking. It was a wonderful experience to work with Barry and his team at CB Conlin. From the planning stages to the work being completed flawlessly this company has the highest level of courtesy and professionalism of any business I have engaged. Barry came out this Spring to help me make sense of a muddy unused part of our garden and he filled it with beautiful shade loving plants, ground cover and large stepping stones. He has an amazing knowledge of horticulture and design- I did not have the least idea of what to do in that area. It's so pretty now it's my favorite spot! We were so happy with the work we decided to do a little more sprucing up before winter. Barry and his team re-set our brick driveway and path that had seen better days (original brickwork was done by another firm). They also removed some overgrown and dead trees, planted some lovely new ones, added sod and mulch and my garden looks presentable once more. This winter we will definitely be thinking of more projects for the CB Conlin team to do in the Spring! read more

We really enjoyed working with Carter and his team on our patio last spring. Carter is friendly, personable, and his attention to detail along with his honesty made him a pleasure to work with on our project, which was a complete overhaul of our current wood deck and landscaping in our backyard. CB Conlin drew an impressive mock up of what they would do, which is what we ultimately chose to go with. It was a 4 week project, complete with the tear down of our current setup and the polishing off of our landscaping to enhance the already gorgeous installation of our new patio. Update: I was contact by the owner, Barry two weeks ago. He saw my review and wanted to work to make things right. The stone was fixed by Mike Faraday at Unilock in Aurora last year, and we got to 95% satisfaction. The seal was added by Jim Urgo last year, and it is 95% to my satisfaction. Both men were brought on to the job by CB Conlin. The plantings were just replaced free of charge by Barry, the owner. He was a very nice man, and seemed sincere about fixing the problems. I was certainly not expecting a response to my review, so that was a pleasant surprise. Problems truly stemmed from the original designer's lack of experience with the Unilock product I chose, and errors in judgement when it came to customer service. I would recommend asking a lot more questions, even when you are working with "the best," and stopping the project when you feel something is headed in the wrong direction. Overall, it was challenging, but in the end it came out well. read more

I am a big fan of CB Conlin. I bid out a project in late 2011and it was clear they were one of 2 companies to actually listen to what we were looking for. Prices were competitive, they were a one throat to choke, and the customer service was outstanding. I then finished the original job w/ a second phase in early 2012 and we love the outcome. From our sales consultant (Heather) to the foreman (Mike) to the owner (Barry) we have nothing but positive things to say and they were always there to address our concerns/issues/questions and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable w/ the decisions facing us. I would recommend anyone looking to have some form of landscaping done to call them. I only have one regret ... I didn't find them sooner so they could've done our front yard too! read more

Barry and his whole team were just wonderful to work with. We had to regrade our entire back yard due to buying an older home with a lot of settling. From start to finish they were patient and clear. CB Conlin can't be beat! They took a torn up, shabby backyard and turned it into an amazing oasis. Their design took into account all of the characteristics of our yard: sun/shade, hot/cool, dry/damp, etc. The plantings thrived and after 3 springs they have matured into a beautiful design. From start to finish, it was great to work with CB Conlin. Carter came out to talk with us and get a feel for what we wanted. He continued to tweak his design until my wife had exactly what she wanted. The installation crew, led by Leo was amazing. They were thorough, both installing and cleaning up. They even helped with somethings that were not a part of the design. Like any kind of landscape, sometimes an occasional plant doesn't survive. Of the 100+ plants in our design, only 3 or 4 died. Carter saw this and had Leo replace them without question or issue. We were so pleased with CB Conlin we had them do our front yard last year.The job and result were once again a great experience. We're looking forward to seeing how the front yard looks in it's 2nd year. Price-wise, we believe we got a superb value. They are definitely not overpriced given the result, customer service and follow-up. read more

I am another BIG fan of CB Conlin! Barry and his crew are awesome. We had a deck from the 80's that had seen better days and decided to install a paver brick patio with pergola in its place. After meeting with Barry at our home, he listened to what we wanted and to some of our ideas and then met with us again with a detailed drawing incorporating those ideas and some terrific ones of his own. His input and style ideas were invaluable, innovative, and creative, and we have ended up with a patio and pergola that exceed our wildest dreams. His crew was very respectful of our property, and at the end of each day we couldn't even tell that they had been there--they left our property very neat and orderly. Barry and his team answered our questions, took the time to point out different things, and we are thrilled with the end result. One of your biggest investments should be in your own home, and this investment will provide us with years of enjoyment. Can't recommend CB Conlin highly enough--worth every penny.
