I can't believe this company offers pick up for ease in their alley at the back of their store. Would seem simple right. Send ETA when you are on the way and get there and they bring it to your car. I sent ETA and then sat in the alley for 20 minutes and called 3x at which time they told me the first time they are short handed and then never came out which I had to call again!. Then when they finally came out they didn't know what my order was or have it. Finally I got it, but making this process slower and more complicated. A peak out the back when I arrived would have been ideal Just telling me it may take longer or they are short handed. Wont do that again. Bad service read more

Don't visit here. These associates are extremely rude. I walked into the store, was not greeted, went to the front desk to pick up my items. I was given no eye contact, no acknowledgement, not even a hello. Charlie, Yvonne and another girl with short black hair looked at me and ignored me as I sat right at the front desk waiting to be helped. Tim did not help me but at least acknowledged my being there and said someone would be there to help me. No one was. After waiting 10 minutes, I asked Charlie if I would be helped. Finally he looked up from his computer to assist me. As someone who was looking to refurbish the our houses here, I'm glad all I picked up was something small because I won't be providing anymore money to this disrespectful establishment. I was so disappointed that my Acacia wood outdoor dining table warped and is unusable. The worst part is that we used it 4 months per year and kept it indoors during the cold months. 3 summers and this one it's unusable. I called CB2, my husband called as well. Apparently they only replace within the first year. Customer service via text was hopeful. The agent said she would contact me in 24-48 hours. I believed her. We had such a weird experience here. It was almost like they didn't care if we made a large purchase or not. To be fair, maybe they really didn't. Who knows. We were looking to purchase a sectional or sofa and had been to a few stores in the area. The first employee we interacted with told us "good luck" and walked off after we told him what we were looking for. The next employee saw us very interested in a couch, stopped to tell us a little about it, and then walked away again. We had to go find any employee (that wasn't avoiding eye contact) to ask if we could buy a couch. For such an expensive purchase, we really expected just a little more customer service. In the end, the couch was backordered for several months and we decided not to look at other options. If you're just browsing or know what you want, I'm sure it's a fine location. But if you need any customer service or assistance, just know you have to get a little direct and persistent. read more

Although I did not purchase anything from here, my experience with Sara (an associate on the floor) who helped in the search for the right sofa, was absolutely excellent. This lady was SO nice and willing to help. I genuinely appreciated her hospitality and warm vibe. Truly - what an asset this store has and might not even realize it. We had a bad experience with their customer service when it came to our wedding registry. But, we didn't receive a dinnerware set I was really excited about. Unfortunately, at least 1 of every item has chipped so far and it's been less than 2 years. We follow the care instructions and don't have kids, so this really shouldn't be happening. I've shopped here a few times and today was the first day actually being acknowledged and it was by a guy working in the clear back of the store named Karl, he deserves 5 stars for his customer service and attention to detail. But the store itself with everyone else working never has reached out before. This place has horrible customer service each time I've been in. No one has ever acknowledged or greeted me. Literally until I've helped myself with everything and come up to make a purchase. It's like now that I can prove I can buy something it's time to give me a fake complement and try to smile and giggle. My review is specific to this store and not the cb2 overall brand and products. I placed a very small order via phone for some swatches last week. I do not live locally and was paying to have them sent. I was charged for the items but to date have not received. When I called the store to resolve the issue, I was met with smug condescending "customer service". For whatever reason, they have no record of the order. I was evenly sarcastically asked if I was even charged (I was). When I asked to reorder the items, he attempted to charge me again for items I've already paid for. His solution was to call my credit card company and dispute the charge. So they mess it up and expect the customer to fix their error. While it is just a swatch and a small charge-this is causing a major delay for me professionally. It makes me look incompetent. To him, it's a simple swatch and $26.75 charge, but for me it's a lost opportunity. Perhaps this store needs to figure out how to deliver the items/services that the customer pays for. The experience at this CB2 was far worse than what I've grown accustomed to at Crate & Barrel (C&B). I'm a big fan of C&B and their customer service, and I was looking for a black floor lamp. Although they did not quite have the modern style I was looking for, one of their associates kindly recommended CB2 just a couple doors over. Although I was initially excited to browse CB2's showroom for the first time, the pursuant experience left much room for improvement. Upon entering the store, the associates at CB2 seemed completely uninterested in helping me find the item I was looking for, as if I was interrupting their day. No smiles, no "how can I help you", just blank stares. After a few minutes of browsing, I did find a gorgeous floor lamp that I was interested in purchasing. However, when I attempted to further ask about purchasing it, yet again the reaction was far from welcoming. All three associates looked up from their iPads or computers in confusion as if I would have the nerve to interrupt them. Meanwhile, there were zero other customers in the store. I decided to leave the store empty handed and postpone my purchase. Regretfully, although I was interested in the lamp, I have decided not to purchase it. I wouldn't be able to justify doing business with a retailer who's associates seemed completely indifferent with regards to my purchase. As I am a fan of C&B, I do hope that this experience was a fluke incident at CB2 and that other customers are not leaving feeling the same way. read more

Buyer beware. The poor quality of CB2's products is not worth the heartache. I've had numerous product quality issues but the most recent one has provoked this negative review. See photos. We received a replacement table last year from CB2 b/c of quality issues with new directions on how to care for it. Over the winter we stored it as suggested, clean with the cover purchased from CB2. This spring, about 4 weeks ago we uncovered it to find the top wood was peeling, the table was in worse condition than the one replaced. I contacted CB2, we've gotten the runaround. This week they finally got back to me with their solution... From CB2: 1. You can return the Artemis Rectangle Dining Table, but there would be a 25% usage fee. Then once it checks back into the warehouse, the remaining credit will go onto a shop card (of this can be emailed to you, as well). 2. You can keep the table as a final sale with a discount of an additional 15% off. You originally had 15% off when you placed the order. This credit would go back onto the original form of payment. Accepting a final sale, however, would void the warranty. This means the item may not be returned nor exchanged and it is ineligible for any future part replacements or repairs. Me: 1. I can't purchase another table with the store credit amount and given all the product issues I'm not sure I want to. 2. 15% back and a voided warranty? Where is the warranty now? I'd like the table fixed. Conclusion: Don't waste your money at CB2. The quality is on par with Ikea, maybe worse in my experience, not worth the price point nor the time and energy to make it right. read more

I adore CB2! The modern styling at an affordable price always has me coming back. It's great for tchotchkes, side tables, kitchen wares, flatware, seasonal decorating items, and even the occasional patio furniture or piece of furniture. The store is on par with West Elm, with more of an urban edge. The options are classic, contemporary, and of-the-moment. Today I went back to replace four broken champagne tubes and one martini glass. Total price: $14! I can always go to get decorating ideas or augment my serving pieces that will please the eyes and my wallet. Parking can be an issue at this location, but I've always found at least one spot in the cramped lot. Of course, I tend to shop there during a weekday when I have off and I'm in the neighborhood. If you can catch a seasonal sale, you're even in better luck. If you want to update your home, look no further than CB2 for inspiration. read more

I didn't realize Chicago was so honored to have the only two CB2's in the world until I had a friend staying with me from Seattle last week. She insisted on stopping at 1 place before heading back home and to my surprise it wasn't Lou Malnati's, but CB2. I can see the appeal- modern, clean looking furniture! Okay, yeah, I got that couch here, but now, two years later, I hate it. The cushions are starting to get shapeless, and no amount of jury rigging it makes it stop sliding around on my hardwood floor. No, I don't always want to have a rug under it, esp. in summer. And it's not dog damage, 'cos I trained the dog not to sit on it - it's just not aging well. I went in here again today, and now most of the stuff they have here looks too bright, tacky, cheap and disposable. The stuff they offered used to look chic and European to me, but now it's a little too ironic and "aren't we so Lincoln Park Young Chicago trendy and fabulous" at times. This has been the worst experience I've had with a furniture vendor. I've always appreciated the quality of Crate & Barrel but I have to ask where did they go wrong with CB2? It's a great store, nice sales associates and cool furniture that's better than IKEA but no breaking the budget either. However my first purchase from CB2 will most definitely be my last. Here's why... I buy the Dahlia marble desk in the store in the beginning of July and am told the piece will be delivered the first week of August. Fine, the desk is delivered a few weeks later then promised but that's ok, it's a nice desk. Upon opening the two boxes I realize a few of the leg sliders have fallen off in transport. I glue them back on only to find that there's a huge crack down the middle of the marble table! I call up to get a new one sent and am given the delivery fee waived up as a concession for having to wait yet another month to get a replacement. Over two months since I've purchased the desk the replacement one arrives and I'm all set to assemble the desk and start to using what I've paid for... nope. Now all but two of the eight leg sliders have fallen off. Didn't even include glue for me to put them back on. They replaced my broken marble desk with another faulty product over two months after I've paid in full. This is the last time I choose to be a customer of CB2. Pictures below as proof of this shoddy manufacturing. I bought the Decker sectional 2 years ago at this cb2. I was so thrilled about it, it is a gorgeous (looking) couch. After 2 years I can now say I will never purchase another piece of garbage from this place again. First of all, I had it upholstered with fabric that had a rating of higher durability than the default fabric....starting piling BAD after a year. Now I have flipped the cushions over because I was honestly embarrassed about it when people came over. Second, the top pillows are down, but feathers are constantly coming out of them and they have lost their shape and just look sad at this point. Third, and what I am most upset about is that the leg broke off the couch. The metal snapped in half....happens I guess? After only 2 years? On a $2500 couch? Well, I got back in contact with the store to ask if they could send a new leg. I figure this should be an easy fix since the couch is still for sale on the Cb2 website. I reached out in November...it is now March and the problem still isn't fixed as I write this sitting on top of my expensive garbage couch that is propped up by old books (maybe I should have built my own couch out of books as they seem to hold up better than this couch???). I have reached out somewhere between 5-10 times. I stopped in the store when I was in the area and spoke with Jordan who I believe is a manager there. He was helpful for about a month. I think he actually called me back once. However, it took weeks to hear back that he did not have an answer from their supplier and was not sure when he would hear back. I spoke to him one or two other times with the same response. I have called back multiple times after and the store employees are always telling me they are not sure of the status and will speak with someone who is and they would get back to me, to never get back to me about it again. How do you run a business like this? I don't get it. Honestly, just send me the freaking leg and I will fix it myself...I have even thought about learning to weld so I could just use a blow torch to reattach the metal pieces of the leg so I could screw it back in again. Ridiculous. Overall, I just want to warn people of the disappointment they are in for if they plan to buy a piece of furniture that will be a staple in their home. I feel terrible that young people in their 20s are saving up their hard earned money to buy something they think they will love, only to be royally screwed in the end after it only lasts for a fraction of the time they had planned. Did I think this couch would last 10 years? Not really. Was I guessing it would last 5 for the price? Yep. Such shady business practices that this is what you are doing to your target market. Here is my advice: 1. Buy vintage and get it cleaned and reupholstered....furniture just ain't what it used to be. 2. Buy a used piece of furniture that is higher quality on facebook marketplace or craigs list...even if you buy a cb2 couch that is used at least you are not forking out all the dough you would to buy it new. 3. Do your research on quality of brands and materials....and be prepared to spend way more money than the prices at cb2 if you want it to last. 4. Stick to Ikea. That couch will probably last at least 2 years for a fraction of the price read more

Scam parking lot.The towing company removes your car meanwhile you are in the store. They have a person outside who tells you that your car was towed and the tow truck is around the corner parked requesting 200$ W/O receipt. CB2 is fully aware (multiple cases) Avoid to buy there (if you are driving, normally if you want to buy their goods you need a car....). CB2 didn't help at all. Awful experience read more

I do not recommend their furniture. It is expensive, for very poor quality products. I purchased a sofa that has become lumpy and the fabric is pilling. I've reached out multiple times and have been told someone from the store will call me to discuss, but then no one calls. Sister store to Crate and Barrel, but boasts a more distinctive and streamlined style. Look for unique dishes, cool glassware, big hourglasses filled with lime green or bright orange sand, atypical vases and odd candlesticks, minimalist lighting, etc. The first time I went here the power went out so I didn't get a lot of time to browse; I went back yesterday nearly a year later and got the full experience with electricity. Bought some glasses that were like a cross between a martini and margarita glass in shape, and several unusual, wide but shallow bowls with an interesting white speckled glaze. Their dishes and glassware are very reasonable in price; the few couches etc. that I saw seemed high. I'd stick to the small stuff here and look elsewhere for the big-ticket things. Staff was available but a bit remote at first. One clerk warmed up a bit as he helped me, saying how much he too liked the glasses I was buying etc. So give them a chance even if they seem cool initially. read more

The stuff in store is really cute and the people that work in store are all really nice. I bought a kitchen table, chairs, and a coffee table because the sales associate was so helpful/convincing. The two stars are for how I have not received a part of my order yet. I placed this order on June 18. I picked up 3 of the 4 necessary boxes from the store itself the next week. While picking up the boxes, no one working informed me that the last box was backordered. I learned 31 days later that the legs for my coffee table are backordered and they do not know when I will receive them based on warehouse issues. For the price I paid for this coffee table, the store should be much better about updating me on the whereabouts of the legs. Obviously, using a marble slab that's on the ground doesn't work super well for a coffee table. Will obviously not be shopping here again or recommending it to my friends. read more

Between a book shelf, Marshall speaker and other things for my office, they do have nice things. The prices are some higher than expected but others are very reasonable due to the craftsmanship. The absolutely worse customer service ever!!!!! No return calls, slow if at all responses to texts, waiting to speak to an agent for greater than 30 minutes on average when you call at their start time. Recently ordered 3 pillows. Cancelled 2 pillows which were not scheduled to ship until October. Received the 3rd pillow but wanted to return. Received a receipt indicating 2 pillows cancelled and one still active. Went on line to return but all 3 pillows were cancelled. Again, endless amounts of wasted time trying to make contact to return an item. Love their products but getting answers on any matter is so time consuming and frustrating it doesn't seem worth it. read more

Be careful shopping here. I parked in their lot and went to get coffee across the street quickly before going into the store. I bought a few things then left only to find out my car was towed. The store would not help me with the tow company even though they contract or subcontract the tow company They employ a predatory towing company so if you shop here DO NOT GO GET COFFEE. My original review was for the old Lincoln Ave location, and since they are now closed I think it's time for an update. CB2 is growing on me. Yes, certain things are still quite expensive. However, I love going here for housewarming gifts. I can always find an inexpensive vase that looks like a million bucks. Recently, I found a super cute one for $4!!! I loved it so much I got one for myself, too. When I moved, I upgraded my plates, bowls, flatware, etc. It was more than I wanted to pay, but I do love everything I purchased. I mostly like that you can buy each piece separately, instead of in sets. And their sales are killer! Usually it's just accessories on sale, but it's an inexpensive way to add a few new pieces to your apartment without costing a fortune. read more

Ever wish you could get to Ikea but don't feel like the distance, hassle or crowds? Hit up CB2, it's about the same thing and will take a fraction of the time. It may cost a little more, but you can find all the random knick knacks you knever knew you kneeded. Ever miss those days at The Gap when five randomly-placed employees would accost you with greetings and follow you around until you either bought something or left? Yeah, it's like that at CB2 too unfortunately. Dishes, glasses, rugs and decor are all reasonably priced but the furnishings are overly modern (the uncomfortable, small couches for short people or Euro-style homes). CB2 is good in a pinch if you need supplies for entertaining, and I intend to return to buy a few of their carpet squares ($7 each) so I can finally replace the rug in my bedroom. Handy. read more

Although the quality of most of their stuff isn't good, they have great taste. I love to look through their windows at the modern/chic displays. And oh lord, they love green. That means it's my heaven because green is my #1 color! Green, green, green everywhere! They have some cheap accessories, but the prices can add up real fast. I love the CB2! I recently bought a small computer desk and chair for my sun room. CB2's furniture was made for urban living and their furniture is not super sized so it can fit into smaller spaces. I also wanted something that blended well with my decor and I found the perfect desk and chair! The sales associates are very helpful and our items were in stock! I just pulled around to the loading dock and the friendly sales associate put my purchase in the car. Everything had to be assembled but it was a breeze. CB2 has great gift ideas and nice accessories for the home. Check it out if you are stopping in at Trader Joe's! Just be ready for a very full and busy parking lot on the weekends. read more
