He went out to my property within a couple days to give me a quote. He set up an appointment to trim an unruly tree and pull out a palm tree that grew along side a walkway with roots growing under the concrete and around my sprinkler piping. I contacted CBC through yelp last week for a tree in our yard that had a broken branch with a lot of dead leaves (fire hazard)! We have a 60ft cypress tree on our property that was a big mess on our lot and our neighbors. It was old and had a lot of sap come off of it. Had 3 trees pruned and the crew did a good job, However the clean up process was not good. They tried to clean up when it was dark 730PM. I asked then to come back in the morning but they refused. It was so dark they even left some of their equipment behind. In the following days I discovered some damage to my fence. I have called Melvin 3 times and left him messages with no response. BAD customer service. It took me 2 days and one barrel full of twigs and branches to clean up the mess. Not a happy camper. read more

This week, we had an excellent experience with CBC Tree Services. We had a large street tree which needed considerable cutting back to get the branches out of electrical lines leading to our house. In the back yard we had a 60 foot pine tree needing to be removed - it was both dead (or dying), and leaning towards our house. It seemed impossible that anyone could get this mammoth pine safely brought down, and removed through our narrow side yard. Melvin the owner had come out the week before and given us a quick and very reasonable price quote for the work we needed done, and we quickly scheduled a time. At 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, Omar and his crew came out, first tackling the tree in front of our house. Lower branches were cut, as needed, and upper branches were thinned out, leaving a beautiful looking tree which is also no longer tangled in the power lines. By the end of that first day, the crew was taking down some of the large lower limbs on the pine tree in back. Day two was spent mostly taking down the pine tree which was done both efficiently and safely. Amazing to watch. The final half day was spent grinding down the pine stump, removing a small bush (and grinding that stump) and cleaning up any remaining tree debris. During each step of the process, the CBC team employed appropriate Covid-19 safety practices as well as tree-removal safety practices. I have nothing but good things to say about CBC Tree Services. The night of Saturday 10/26/2019 our power service was shut off by PG&E due to a high wind advisory and low-humidity conditions forecast for Sunday 10/27. And the weather predictions were 100% accurate. The winds were so strong that a major structural trunk of our 200'-tall cypress pine completely snapped and fell down. The trunk of the tree was the width of a car, and it when it made contact with the earth it sounded like a bomb went off. The top of the tree landed on our neighbor's roof, and the base was completely blocking our driveway, barricading us in our home. We immediately reached out to several tree removal companies in the area to schedule an emergency onsite removal, and, despite an area-wide PG&E power shutoff, Melvin and his crew from CBC Tree Service arrived at at our property in ~30 minutes. They got right to work, cutting the branches and grinding the trimmings. And not long after they started, a brush fire broke out less than 1 mile away from our home. Contra Costa Fire immediately sent out an area-wide evacuation notice. But we were unable to evacuate because the tree trunk was still blocking our driveway. Since the emergency notice was distributed to everyone with a cell phone located in the evacuation area, the tree removal crew also received the same evacuation notice. My wife and I panicked, presuming the crew would leave to save themselves. But they did not. I approached Melvin, and reminded him there was an area-wide evacuation notice and I understand if he wanted to leave. But he spoke with his crew and they ultimately decided to stay and complete the job. And they did. The removal of the fallen tree trunk removal was completed, and our path was cleared for evacuation. We paid $725 for them to prune a big oak tree in our backyard and to trim 1/2 of a redwood overhanging our neighbor's yard, and our neighbor paid them the same to trim about 4-5 trees back and 1/2 of that redwood. A team of 3 workers were at our houses from 8:15am to 5:15pm today, trimming away. After trimming our branches and such, They also cleaned up our whole side yard, where I had been stressed out about some yardwork I still had to do.
