Ironically enough, Jules and I visited CBCB not 24 hours before we headed to Red Robin with our friends, while en route for a day of nerdity at Bookery Fantasy. In further irony, this review is going to sound a lot like what I said about Red Robin. When we arrived at CBCB, the restaurant was deserted. Utterly. A few staff members lingered about, but at 2pm on a Saturday, there wasn't a single customer in the joint, aside from us. That silence spoke loudly. You see, CBCB has a kind of "old school juke joint' vibe, complete with a Sopranos pinball table and a digital jukebox in the corner. They pride themselves on having a great number of beers on tap and a menu built on soaking up all that ale. And while this concept can be done quite well, CBCB brings over the worst habits of bar food--lazy, pre-made food with little flavor. I'll readily admit; my burger was well cooked. There's a talented line cook working at CBCB who knows how to get a good sear on an all-beef patty. That said, the patty itself was very obviously a pre-made, pre-formed, quarter pound patty that came out of a freezer pack. Our fries were crinkle-cut minis that you'd find in any supermarket freezer section, simply dropped in the deep fryer. Our pretzels very obviously came from a box, then were cooked in a fryer and dusted with the typical packet industrial salt. Yargh. With so many better, fresher options in the Miami Valley, I really have a hard time recommending CBCB, even though it wasn't *bad* Overall, it was just a mediocre burger joint from which I'd just as soon go elsewhere. read more

The food is bland. The potato skins were cold and the hamburger was absolutely awful. Really went downhill with new owners. Also were playing horrible music so loudly we could barely hear each other at our table. Basically this went from a decent place to a really cheap crappy dive bar with greasy crappy food. read more

Really Good Burgers! What more do you want? Forget fast food, forget red robin, get your butt to CBCB the next time you need a burger. Like the name says they specialize in cold beer and cheese burgers, do one thing and do it well is always a great philosophy. They have a large beer selection including many local/regional as well as seasonal brews. The service is friendly and attentive and the food is really good. I love their bacon chipotle burger, with a grilled beef patty topped with homemade chipotle mayo and bacon. I always get it with their excellent onion rings and some extra chipotle mayo for dipping. CBCB is a great local joint that does great food and beer, it's a home run. read more

This CBCB is located in a strip mall a little off of the main drag, so it is easy to miss. We came here on a Friday night for dinner and it wasn't too busy (or too empty for that matter). For an app we ordered the buffalo chicken potato skins. They have a few different topping choices for them, but Buffalo chicken is the way to go! The skins were done perfectly with the the right amount of sauce, chicken, and potato. I ordered the late riser burger.. I always seem to gravitate toward the burgers with egg on them for some reason.. And it was great! It is your typical super greasy burger, cooked well. I would have preferred my egg over easy, as it was over hard.. But I didn't specify to begin with. All in all it was a good experience and great for when you're craving that all American greasy burger. read more

What a great little place! We were in from out of town and wanted to eat at a local eatery, not a chain. Thanks to YELP, we found a gem. There was actually nobody eating inside because the evening weather on the patio was so pleasant. My hubby had some kind of Philly steak sandwich and could not stop talking about how much he liked it the rest of our trip. I got the turkey burger with chipotle mayo, which was quite tasty. Kiddo got a cheese quesadilla (we call it a Mexican grilled cheese) and fries. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, kids can eat for 99 cents (burger or quesadilla) so that was very nice to discover! I eventually ordered a margarita and it was very good as well. Our server was great at getting us refills and answering questions. The menu had quite a variety of choices, too bad we live too far away to try some more of then. Go check them out and enjoy a nice meal on the patio. read more

We went for the first time today. Our server was great. She understood it was our first time and let us try a beer sample and recommended a few things for us. We enjoyed the soft bar pretzels, but especially with the honey mustard she recommended. The burgers were juicy, greasy, and delicious. Never trust neat food!! Nice bar atmosphere. Ordered mushroom burger with a cup of chili. The burger was fresh and very tasty. Nice smoky grilled flavor and mushrooms were fresh. Lettuce, tomato, onions were extremely fresh. Chili was good with lots of meat. Two things stood out.. French fries were standard wavy cut frozen and blah. I was expecting lots of beer tap choices but they actually only have 4 beers on two... Red lobster up the street has 6 so way below average for a bar. Burger gets this place 4 stars. I'd give 5 stars if they improved their French fries, they suck and added more beers on tap... I'd expect a bar like this to have at least 10 varieties. read more

They specialize in burgers but they don't ask what temperature you want it cooked. That is telling. This isn't a wings and beer place. It's a beer and burgers place. Quick hitter: CBCB is a serviceable, but not extraordinary burger and beer place with a wonderful staff. Recently decided to try this place for something new. Walking in, it feels a bit like a bar entrance - squeeze through to the right and you're in the dining area and have access to the patio. There's a small area beneath the tv which I am assuming functions as a dance floor/standing area when (if?) the place gets busy. The decor is a bit mishmashed. Something of a 50s diner and a more retro bar look with beer signs and old coke ads. No clear identity which I think could really help improve the place. Ordered a guacamole burger with the fries and a local draft beer. My company for the evening had the spicy garlic burger and another beer. Her beer tasted a bit flat and skunked - there may have been something up with the keg - but otherwise the glasses were clean and not soapy and the beer was cooled appropriately (not freezing, not lukewarm which is surprisingly uncommon). My guacamole burger was delicious, and I can understand some of the hype for their burgers. Something of a home-made burger heartiness meets restaurant burger taste with more topping options. The garlic burger was pretty good (sort of a Tabasco garlic mayo on top), but not amazing. It's relatively spicy, but not unbearably so. The buns were a bit thin and I think they could use some beefing up in the bread department (these are store bought, bake your own goodness and use it as another burger option!). The service was prompt and helpful. The bartender greeted us when we entered, and our server was gracious and helpful (even apologizing for a minuscule delay in the food coming out). The price was very good. Cheap, even. They also had specials and deals throughout the week. For 25 bucks you can get out with a few burgers and sides and a couple good beers. Overall, I'd say this place was an adequate dining experience. I can't speak to how good it is for sports viewing or later at night, but it's not bad for eating. A few suggestions for them: Drop a good portion of the menu. It's cluttering and unnecessary to what I think is your overall goal. I like that you have different options, but you're needlessly burdening yourself with niche items that likely don't produce much profit. Focus on your burgers, and keep a few of your favorite "other" menu items. As a burger place, you have a stiff market to work in - you need differentiating factors. Unique topping choices (fried plantains? Crab salad? Crunchy peanut butter? Multiple bun options?) and suggestions on how to use them would elevate your burgers from mundane to unforgettable with ease and relatively low cost. Work on your image, as you need a true identity (are you just another diner? A young person's beer tasting spot? A grungy burger place?) Your staff is fantastic, but your product is holding you back. read more

This is the second time we've visited CBCB. We stumbled upon it looking for another restaurant and were very pleased with our choice! CBCB has a great menu with lots to choose from. On both occasions we were given recommendations of drinks or dishes and they were spot on. I really love their drink the Mermaid. On this last trip we ate it all! We started off with 2 appetizers, the Cheese duo and the pulled pork potato skins. They were both great! They have different things to put on top of your skins as well. The family had the pulled pork and Mac and cheese fish and fries, the chicken tenders and I had a Reuben burger. All were great eats! I love the crinkle cut fries. We ended with cinnamon sugar sweet pretzels that were served with icing! Sooooo good! It seems not a lot of people know about this place as both times we went it was not super crowded. They also have a full service bar. Before we left the waitress also told us that appetizers are half price on Tuesday's and Thursday's. Thanks to YELP -- we found this little gem! My husband bases out of Wright Patt...so I'm always looking for a new place to eat when we are there for drill weekends. CBCB was everything we were looking for. Excellent beer list, even the small draft menu was impressive. The food selection was very broad and the food we had was delicious. We shared the Buffalo Chicken Potato Skins and the pub pretzels. Hubby got a salad - which looked very good. The service was perfect as well. And to top it all off.. domestics are $2.00 all day, everyday! The place is kind of small - - but still nice for a small group. Great little sports bar! read more

We didn't get a chance to try the food but I would not go back based on the attitude of the bartender. I think her name was Tara. I had read on Yelp that this establishment allowed dogs on the patio. When I went in to doublecheck if it was okay, there was only one other person in the whole restaurant. And no one on the patio. The bartender told me that she would prefer I didn't bring my dog on the patio, even though there was no one out there. She was concerned that someone would get hurt even though explained that my dog is a 10 pound mini doodle. She also told me the owner doesn't care either way. So, I'm not sure why she said no, maybe she didn't have the energy to wait on us. I guess she would rather stand behind the bar and talk to her one customer. If I were the owner I would not want someone like that looking after my business. read more

Found this place thanks to YELP! Great little place right off the main drag close to the Mall. One of the best Martinis I've ever had, and a great beer selection on tap as well. We ordered the queso and chips appetizer, it was alright...seemed like it was melted velveeta, but still good. The burgers were delicious, and the burger selection was great. The grilled chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly, even though I got the small portion. This place would totally get 5 stars, except for the fact that the side salad and the french fries were both bagged instead of fresh. read more

The burger was pretty good, I had the chipotle bacon burger with onion rings (delicious). My only pet peeve of the place is that they advertised "college night" specials with a college ID but until the waitress said it was only for WSU students I had not seen it posted. Living right down the road and a possible frequent customer, the idea of advertising a college night but limiting it's participants will not in any way entice me to go back anytime soon. read more

The food is usually pretty good. The biggest problem I have seen the last 3 times I have been here is they have one person waiting tables, busting tables and acting as the bar tender. She is very nice and not at all the issue. This is way more than one person can handle and the patron leave feeling good about the experience. If you have more time than you know what to do with then this is the place for you. It is obvious the management does not take a lot of pride in the service. Loved this place!!!! The bartender was amazing even though she was by herself and quite busy for a Monday night. The food was prompt and the portions were impressive. We noticed someone left their dog unattended on the patio, which was disappointing, but that isn't the bartender's fault. We have been going there for two years, always get the same bartender, and have never been disappointed. Try the local craft beers....they generally have a great selection,.although they noblonger have the oatmeal stout I normally order, I was able to find a close second choice. read more

My girlfriend and I visited CBCB on a whim while passing through the shopping center. I had the portobello burger and she had a standard cheese burger. The restaurant was not particularly busy, which made me question why none of the tables were bussed. After a long wait, we finally received our food, and it was of very low quality. While the produce was ripe, our buns were soggy and the greesy. The fries were also of poor quality, resembling what you'd find in the frozen food department. Service was fine, but could have been better. We will not be returning. read more

Good bar food at a reasonable price. They have a decent beer selection; about 12 beers on tap. They serve the beer in an ice cold glass; this was a nice touch.
