This critique is specifically about the "customer service" representative who was working at CCI on Saturday, May 28. His customer service skills were horrendous, and I won't be returning to this place until I'm convinced they've upgraded the staff. Here's the story. A few weeks ago, I dropped in with a laptop issue (the screen had gone kaput). The individual I spoke with at that time (different than the young man who was in there on Saturday) did a quick (one-minute) visual inspection and told me the screen had died and that it would be $250 (parts and labor) to fix. Fair enough, so I left and later decided to replace the screen on my own. However, the screen I purchased still didn't work, so I dropped by CCI again on Saturday to ask a few questions (essentially, I was still trying to determine whether it was indeed a bad screen and whether I should still harbor hopes of fixing it myself). Here's where things started to go wrong. I was the ONLY customer in the store, so this CCI rep, in my view, should have been more than happy to verbally troubleshoot my problem in hopes of winning my business. Good customer service, of course, generally means that you try to work with your customers on a solution. This young man, however, immediately gave off that "I'm a smart computer geek and you're not" vibe. He was smug and unfriendly and had the gall to actually tell me, "You're just trying to get free information" since I clearly wasn't quite prepared to fork over $250 for a repair (I might have ultimately concluded that this was the most prudent course of action, but his behavior and attitude precluded me from doing business with him). I thought about this exchange for the rest of the day and stewed over it. I now realize this guy is the classic case of someone who might be knowledgeable about computers but has no customer service or public relations training. I would advise CCI's management to take him aside and either give him that training or show him the door. Until then, I would (and will) advise my many friends and colleagues to avoid CCI Computers. read more

CCI computers has been a godsend. I had been attempting to migrate a complex CAD program to a second, new machine, and was repeatedly frustrated. As most of us know, frustration leads to haste, haste to mistakes, and mistakes to seemingly irreparable effects. This is where CCI computers came to the rescue repeatedly. The new machine was relatively recently released, and the manufacturers repair facilities recommendations were laughably ignorant of this unit and its particular requirements; and their fees were exorbitant. More damning still was their suggestion of adding additional hardware for what was a software configuration problem. "Our tech will be in tomorrow". In contrast, Rizwan took care of the problem while I waited on more than one occasion; explained what had happened and how to avoid its happening again. All this for a modest fee, and even that was reluctantly submitted. Rizwan treats the people who come to him more as family than clients. read more

I took my computer to CCI Computer Jam after having been disappointed by a different computer repair shop. Riz was great. He knows his stuff. Riz explained everything comprehensively. And he was downright good company. He handled multiple jobs on my old and new computers, like transferring data from one computer to another and expanding my hard drive among other things. And he did a magnificent job. As far as I am concerned, everything went smoothly. From now on, Riz will be my go-to computer guy, and I will be sure to recommend him to other people as well. My laptop has been out of sorts and it was taking a lot of time to boot up. I had a lot of games installed on it and therefore it was getting harder to open up any file or folder. Rizwan did a great job of installing extra RAM and putting in a new hard disk. He moved the important files and folders and I didn't have to worry about a lot. He even set up some of the important programs and my system is now working like a brand new Ferrari :) Thank you for the amazing service. Much appreciated! Coming back whenever I did any fix. I recently upgraded my laptop computer at CCI in Walnut Creek. The additional memory and a fast disc drive greatly improved the performance of my computer. Riz and his staff are very knowledgeable and completed the upgrade very quickly. The cost was very reasonable and the staff was very helpful. I will use CCI again to service my computers. read more
