The hubby and I were on our way down to San Diego so we stopped in to get a gift for a friend. We wanted to get him a special bourbon but couldn't decide out of the dozens of bottles. One of their helpful staff came by and asked if he could help. He asked about a price range and recommended the Old Fitzgerald, which we'd never even heard of and never tried, but decided to take a chance. We were very impressed with it when we tried it with our friends later on that evening--the most smooth bourbon I think I've ever had. The cashier even went out of her way to find the branded velvet gift bag for the bottle, which was a nice way to present our gift. We were also glad to see that they had a selection of gluten-free beers, as the hubby had developed a gluten sensitivity recently. Great selection with a friendly, professional staff--it doesn't get much better than this.

I used to chat with Mike at the store he managed on Bristol Ave formerly. Now today I got the story straight from the crew at both locations and my guy Johnny at the location here on Newport Blvd North and Wilson in Costa Mesa. First, make sure that you're headed north on Newport Blvd back in the direction of Santa Ana. Then just past 23rd Street you'll see the stop light at Wilson. The center is immediately on the right, be careful as the parking lot is rather tight. Also there's the 7/11 right next door. My guy Johnny was also super nice and accommodating when I asked him if I could take some pictures. One thing I noticed was that this location also has a good selection of Kratom from various brands. Really nice to add to your coffee or in a protein shake. Also this location has a cool Zippo lighter display with a decent selection of cool lighters. A slightly larger selection of Hookahs than the Newport/Balboa store. Everything else is solid and quite comparable to the Balboa store. Fantastic service whichever locations you might find yourself visiting. What I personally like is that these are family owned and operated, veteran owned, and have provided the community around Costa Mesa, Newport, Irvine, area for over a couple of decades now. You can't go wrong with stopping by any of the stores, they have exactly what you need and the best crews in store there to help you get exactly what you want. I HIGHLY recommend the Up In Smoke stores whichever location is nearest you. Enjoy!!

Easily over $2,500 in clouds of fruity smoke. So imagine my shock when one of the owners comes sprinting after me like I'm shoplifting diamonds... over a ONE DOLLAR WATER BOTTLE. Mind you, they've given me water for free before. But suddenly, this $1 bottle must've been liquid gold. The look of pure existential frustration in the owner's eyes was like I'd just asked him for his firstborn child instead of a sip of Dasani. I guess loyalty means nothing when they're counting pennies. So here's the deal: Thousands spent on vapes? Check. Loyal customer for 2 years? Check. Free water bottle? DENIED. I hope that $1 was worth it, because you officially lost a customer who practically pays your electric bill. I'll be taking my vape habit (and my thirst) elsewhere. P.S. Next time, maybe save the Olympic-level sprinting for actual shoplifters... not your regulars who keep you in business.

My friend and I were in town on vaca and found Antoine and the shop. His customer service was fantastic. Not only recommended a place for us to eat and go smoke but called the owner to set it up. Selection was terrific as well! Will definitely visit next time I am in town. read more

I visited the shop several times and purchased a handful of cigars. Unfortunately, I happened to choose cigars that didn't have single-stick prices displayed on the boxes. While many boxes clearly list the price for individual cigars, a few do not. After doing some research and comparing prices with several other cigar shops in the Tustin area, I found that the markup on those cigars was significantly higher than elsewhere. That experience was disappointing and changed my opinion of the shop. Tony it's unfortunate because you lost what could have been a loyal customer for life. My advice to anyone shopping there is simple: always ask the price before purchasing, especially if it isn't clearly displayed. Tony likes to change the prices on cigars in the blink of an eye. What cost you $20 one day will be $30 some other day.

We spent 3 hours there until they closed. Afterwards, my dad said he hasn't talked that much in a long time and was pleasantly surprised that everyone was NOT an a**hole! We love that. Even if you don't smoke, they sell non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. I would absolutely return for the quaint and close-knit vibes and community that is here. So rare nowadays!
