As anyone who has read my other review of the store that was previously on Bristol was my long time place for all my accessories like hemp wicks, water pipes, papers, and all things smoking related. Today marks the day that I solved the quest to understand the connection of ALL the Up In Smoke stores!! First, a huge amount of gratitude to Bruce who filled me in on Mike and Murad, who are the original people that own and operate the stores. I used to chat regularly with Mike at the Bristol store and he always was solid on hooking up the great glass!! Bruce and the other guys at the shop are incredibly welcoming and the store is impeccable. They have everything you need, especially if you're like me and "fumble" your "piece" and it breaks at the beach. OR in case you accidentally loose track of your papers and they get "donated" to the sand gods Up In Smoke is right there off of Newport Blvd South just up on the left hand side a little bit past the liquor store also on the left. You can also access the store on the North bound side of Newport Blvd just past 26th Street. There are pay kiosks for some of the street parking so be aware of it so you don't get a ticket. The store has a great selection of pipes, water pieces, gear for vaping, also a nice selection of cigars should you be in "the mood". All the other accessories like protective bags for traveling with your piece, rolling trays, selection of tobacco for argile/hookah smokers, e juices, etc. Again, location, location, location! Literally steps from the beach, the bar, the restaurants, whatever your destination or reason Up In Smoke is right there for you. Enjoy!!!

The lounge is beautifully designed--comfortable leather seating, great lighting, and a layout that actually makes you want to stay awhile. The cigar selection is outstanding. Whether you're into classics or looking to try something new, their humidor is well-stocked and perfectly maintained. I asked for a recommendation and the staff nailed it--knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate without trying to upsell. The ventilation deserves special mention: you can enjoy a great smoke without leaving smelling like an ashtray, which is rare and hugely appreciated. The store clerk or manager was a bit of a stickler. He came into the humidor a few times to constantly tell this customer to stop smelling the cigars and even to stop touching them. I understand there should be a cigar store etiquette which definitely should be "No smelling cigars" and it's our responsibility as customers not to do those things but to again get asked NOT to touch the cigars; now that's slightly rude. It kind of gives off the type of vibe in here which is stuck up. It's a bit too quiet in here for my liking; people can literally hear your conversation. I wish there was some jazzy or Cuban salsa music in the background along with more people talking to each other but that's not what this place is. It's a quiet and intimate lounge. Their humidor has some good selections such as Padron, Davidoff, Tatuaje, Don Pepin, and even EP Carrillo. Price is fair I'd say but average price is about $20-$25 starting. I would come back again most definitely especially since it's one of the only cigar lounges around New Port.

This review is for staff member Michael (I hope I got his name correctly from his name tag; he is from France ). My brother is visiting from another country and wanted to buy a few bottles for his wine club. We know Hi-Time has a great selection. He asked a staff member for a specific wine bottle and he said they didn't have it. They spent a few more minutes talking and the staff member left without any convincing recommendations for my brother. My brother kept looking and then Michael showed up. Not only he found the wine he was looking for initially, but he also made some other great recommendations. The whole interaction was polite, friendly, interesting, and enjoyable. My brother walked out of Hi-Time with a smile. Thank you, Michael!

I was messaging with Shelley and upon finally making it to their store I was met a bigger set gentleman named Jake. He's like a teddy bear, was extremely professional, apologized for my past visit and went above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. It was unfortunate due to the new laws passing for vapes in California. Their store was cleared of their usual inventory and they now have special glass pieces for sale amongst several other products. I have not yet had a chance to test out any of my new replacements yet, however I'm confident that it'll work well. They will also be launching a website for sales shortly as I was told. I used to chat with Mike at the store he managed on Bristol Ave formerly. Now today I got the story straight from the crew at both locations and my guy Johnny at the location here on Newport Blvd North and Wilson in Costa Mesa. First, make sure that you're headed north on Newport Blvd back in the direction of Santa Ana. Then just past 23rd Street you'll see the stop light at Wilson. The center is immediately on the right, be careful as the parking lot is rather tight. Also there's the 7/11 right next door. My guy Johnny was also super nice and accommodating when I asked him if I could take some pictures. One thing I noticed was that this location also has a good selection of Kratom from various brands. Really nice to add to your coffee or in a protein shake. Also this location has a cool Zippo lighter display with a decent selection of cool lighters. A slightly larger selection of Hookahs than the Newport/Balboa store. Everything else is solid and quite comparable to the Balboa store. Fantastic service whichever locations you might find yourself visiting. What I personally like is that these are family owned and operated, veteran owned, and have provided the community around Costa Mesa, Newport, Irvine, area for over a couple of decades now. You can't go wrong with stopping by any of the stores, they have exactly what you need and the best crews in store there to help you get exactly what you want. I HIGHLY recommend the Up In Smoke stores whichever location is nearest you. Enjoy!!

"Congrats, You Lost a Loyal Customer Over a $1 Water Bottle!"…read more I've been going to this smoke shop for TWO YEARS, dropping enough cash on vapes and juice to probably fund the owner's next vacation. Easily over $2,500 in clouds of fruity smoke. So imagine my shock when one of the owners comes sprinting after me like I'm shoplifting diamonds... over a ONE DOLLAR WATER BOTTLE. Mind you, they've given me water for free before. But suddenly, this $1 bottle must've been liquid gold. The look of pure existential frustration in the owner's eyes was like I'd just asked him for his firstborn child instead of a sip of Dasani. I guess loyalty means nothing when they're counting pennies. So here's the deal: Thousands spent on vapes? Check. Loyal customer for 2 years? Check. Free water bottle? DENIED. I hope that $1 was worth it, because you officially lost a customer who practically pays your electric bill. I'll be taking my vape habit (and my thirst) elsewhere. P.S. Next time, maybe save the Olympic-level sprinting for actual shoplifters... not your regulars who keep you in business.
